Re: Tannoy Man
Aw shucks - thanks for the comments folks!!!!
Let me put the record straight to avoid any confusion. On Thursday morning I received an e-mail from Rob Heys, saying: " We have been offered a deal with 2BR which would generate publicity for us on the air together with a payment to the club, however they have asked if they can run the PA announcements on a match day." He asked me if I was OK with this, and thanked me for my services. The club have very kindly given me a season ticket for the rest of this campaign, and although I would have loved to carry on, it is in the best interest of the club that they gain this extra revenue, and radio publicity. I have enjoyed the last 3 years immensly, met a lot of nice people, and made many friends - but nothing is for ever. I have had a lot of fun, and wish I had a recording of my many gaffs!!!! I thought the new guy was brilliant, and his immense radio experience will improve the PA announcements on match days. The comment about me having to pay the admission fee whilst being the announcer is obviously not the case, and the club have done nothing that I could complain about. I will still see many of you on match days, and on poker nights, and thank you all once again for your kind comments. This is The Tannoy Man's last message, and I will never come in your ears again!!!! John XXX |

Not sure how much the Burnley jibe has got out of hand but if he has been taking the pee and continues to do so then Doug may get his wish and Stanley will be the only matches commentated on by 2BR :D |

Re: Tannoy Man
At least the club did things in a proper way, which is something at least.
All the best for the future. BTW... people keep goinbg on about the clarity of the tannoy, but I seriously could not hear it on the Whinney Hill side. There seemed to be no sound from the halfway line up to the top corner. |
Re: Tannoy Man
Shame so many of you where so eager to think the club had done something wrong :(
I would keep posting as Tannoy Man mate.. i think the new guy did an excellent job but I find it hard to say without feeling like I am being dissrespectfull to you.. but now you have said it then its OK ...:) |

I would have thought announcing a last match from Tannoy Man would have been a good idea. Give him a chance to say his goodbyes properly, playing one last "Cart On", etc.etc. |
Re: Tannoy Man
and you shame the club for that ?
sigh.... |
Re: Tannoy Man
I take it you don't think the club should inform the fans Mr.K?
Sorry, I do. |
