Invasion

I live in Stockport and watch Stanley every home game. Many of my friend sfollow County and they all say they are coming on the 17 Feb.
They have nearly 3000 season ticket holders and have sold their allocation of 1400 allowed by Stanley.
Obviously many of their supporters dont have tickets but they are still making the journey.
I hope that there isnt any trouble.
It could be the first game I have ever been to where the away support was higher than the home support.

Re: Invasion

what about Bury on boxing day? that was close as they sold 1400 and had fans in and about the other stands

What about Chester in the season they were promoted from the Conference? That was embarrasing.

I don't think we can get any more embarrasing times, the Club is one big embarasment. We can't get players ,we can't get a Roof. we can't get a striker. we can't pay the wages required to get players of the calibre to keep us in the League. No wonder the Gates are going down, as Eric never heard the saying you have to speculate to accumilate, at least give us a roof to watch in the dry, at what ever level we fall to, or we will be back to gates of 600, again

Re: Invasion

Can anyone explain why the away fans are ticket only, yet the home fans are pay on the day?................to my way of thinking it would surely be better to make it an 'all ticket' match that way the club would have a possibility of at least reducing the amount of away fans that may attempt to get into the 'home 'ends? It would also make Policing/Stewarding an easier task and reduce the possibility of 'trouble' (not that I envisage any btw!)............Just a thought :)

The home fans are not all ticket probably because they wouldn't get sold, and the Clayton end would be half empty. I have no problems with away fans mingling with us, after all we have been doing that for years.

Errrm, probably because it would make sense

I work with a load of Bury fans , and the concept of half an all-ticket game was new to them :) . Stanley, innovators again.

Have patience. The roof will be on before you know it (Clayton end anyway) why do we need a striker when we have the 3rd or 4th best strike force in the league - I have said it before and I will say it again, it is defenders we need and the signing af MA de SA ( the portuguese chappy) is welcome addition in my book. Why is the club embarrassing  We have Rommy almost back to full fitness and other injured players coming back. This will be like having a new team. My only worry is the goalie situation. If you think the club has money to burn, fine, you run it, however I think 1963 and all that will ensue very quickly. The one thing the fans do not want is that again. If we happen to get relegated, so be it, we have been promoted once and we could do it again (Barnet have done it). As regards the crowds, Accrington Stanley have always had the problem of being between Blackburn and Burnley with other premier league clubs within a 30 mile radius. It is a problem that is not going to go away. Which in reality is why Eric must be applauded for keeping the club on the level and accounts in the black.

Loved it M8. Won't be too long afore I am back in NZ, probably within the next couple of years and for a hell of a lot longer. Came over for the Lions tour last year - though I have to admit not to watch the Lions - Too embarrassing.

Of the clubs mentioned with regard to having a larger away support than home support, the difference with Stockport is that they aren't the most pleasant of supporters

Surely that's a Burnley thing though, you have history with them but then again they are nearly mancs and I've never liked them.:)
