Full house today. Gates were shut before the match. We got there at 2.55 and were turned away. Not too bothered for us as we are not Stanley supporters but there still quite a few fans walking towards the ground with red & white scarves on when we left so it could be the real supporters haven't got in.

From where I was standing I could see he was a couple of feet outside the box, still it was the turning point of the game. When we didn't have worry as much about defending due to their 10 men we played some half decent football at times.

Just for the record, definitely not a penalty.

And Antwi? Awesome, and deserves a lot of the credit for Cav's free kick going in. Can't say too much, it might work again. :)

Excellent day despite the weather, the lads where well deserving 3 points and god did it take a long time to come. Antwi? (sp) Well done, welcome to the club, hope you enjoyed it, get this lad signed boss.

A good team selection today, a good spirited performance and 3 points to drive off the cold wet weather of an Accrington spring day. Bloody marvelous.

Can we do it again next week please.

Re: vs Torquay

Gotta say, Antwi was a revelation, and I cannot remember going to watch Stanley when our own goalie has had so little to do! Defo not a penalty, was a couple of feet outside the area, however, there were other shouts in the first half when there was a clear handball, even those in Preston saw it. Referee was a prat, but at least one liner had a decent game (Whinney Hill side). I even sold the winning 50/50 ticket to an Accy fan (not Jimbo I hasten to add). Nice to meet him though. We will have to get Michigan Red abnd Kiwi John over next. Now that would be an achievement.

But yes 11 good performances today, in probably the most tense game seen at FES, Procky and Jay battled for everything.

Its a bit sour on the Torquay forum :D

Quote:

As far as todays game goes just a couple of observations as the scoreline was totally predictable.
I think Accrington gained an unfair advantage by being allowed to charge nowt to get in - playing away in front of their usual 1,200 - 1,500 abysmal crowds would perhaps have made our job easier today.
Having said that the fact that they only got 3,500 of their own fans when it is absolutely FREE to get in speaks volumes - pathetic really for a club that should be on an up in their 1st season back in the league.
They better enjoy their league status because with their fanbase and income it will be shortlived.

Bitter pill by the sound of it. The best they could have hoped for was a 0 - 0 draw, they where out played and given that the ref favoured them throughout the match they where lucky it was only 1 - 0.

On Stanley On.

I thought that when Jay Harris's great shot went just wide that we'd missed out after completely outplaying Torquay, but after Shaun Whalley had wasted his free kicks I said to my mate that Cav used to score from these free kicks, and BINGO!
I was too nervous to really enjoy the game, thinking Torquay would break away and steal the points, but needn't have worried with the awesome new boy at the back - sheer class he is.
How about a fiver for the Hereford game to keep the bandwaggon rolling?

Great win today guys !!!! :D :D :D Well done and a good 3 points - but we must guard against complacency. We are nowhere near out of this relegation scrap yet - and remember, we have four very difficult away games to come, and the possible points deduction hanging over our heads.

Not trying to be defeatist - just a realist - and we need to play like this every week.:)

Enjoy the celebrations tonight ! :D

It’s all very quiet at the moment there was a nice bit on the evening news with half a K.S.H. at the edge of the frame. Most of it was shot in the main stand and appeared to be rather negative in some aspects, but the FES look good full’ish.

But yes 11 good performances today, in probably the most tense game seen at FES, Procky and Jay battled for everything.

Just need to keep it going, anyone know what's up with Rommy?

Spoke to Rommy after the match in the bar. Hie will be out for 2 to 3 weeks with a knee injury. Must say, Leighton Mcgivern looks as though he might make a comeback soon, but where was Mauro Almeida?? anyone got the answer to that one?

Re: vs Torquay

well i will prob get a rollicking off you guys for this , but haveing been ,seen and enjoyed today my one concern (having not seeing them play for a long time ) is IMHO although they played really well and kept full control of the game , when it came to being around the goals they withered and spent too much time passing instead of taking chances , now that is just my opinion and there are many out there that understand the guys and thier ways much better, but thats what i saw and felt.correct me if im wrong because im no expert, although still pleased of the way they controlled the game today.
