An alternative anthem/ music for the boys to run out to

After looking hard, but not finding the previous post for music for the team to run out to, I'm just wondering, having not posted in the previous thread, what folks think of what of what's been bugging me for a while......

With the obvious Scouse / Liverpudlian connection to our club and added to the fact that, although the milk marketing advert made us the butt of a nationwide "joke" for years (although it made the club vital revenue) What about running out to what some may consider the "Anfield Anthem" ???

I refer of course to Gerry and the Pacemakers version of " You'll never walk alone" which as I'm sure many may be aware has also been adopted by Glasgow Celtic. I am sure that the Ultras (Along with all others that see fit to join in)would be able to replicate, albeit on a smaller version, the atmosphere generated at Anfield or Parkhead. Flags, banners, scarves accompanying this would show just how passionate we are for the cause. I'm not knocking the Celtic Cross anthem, but given the fact that we have a Scouse manager and assistant and numerous playing staff originate from the Merseyside vicinity, maybe this would serve as a little extra motivation for the lads??

For one that stands as a regular on the Clayton End,bear in mind my next statement. (and it's just my opinion!!) What we may lack in numbers (at the present) we more than make up for with the passion and commitment showed when backing our team. This may (or may not!) strike a chord with the current players and management and motivate,it may (or may not?) intimidate, bemuse or motivate the opposition, but maybe it's worth a try??:o

Any thoughts??

Bad idea, sorry. It needs to be sung immaculately to be any good anyway! "Cart on" is great but just needs to be pushed a bit more by the Ultras.

I think we tried it a couple of years ago when we had the first 'raise your scarf' day. It only really works when the whole crowd sing it and that is the reason why things wouldn't work at the FES. Twenty peoplein the middle of the Clayton End can't even begin to replicate what is one of the most hair-raising, goose-pimpling moments in football.

Cart On has to be the way forward but Sixty Eight Guns that Pendle Red suggested a few weeks ago sounds top in my book.

Trouble with 68 guns
The chorus is OK but the vocal line of the verses is cack.
If people dont sing along to a simple tune like Cart On
How the F will they sing along to that weird tuning key whichever Peters sings
I`ve thought long and hard about the reconstruction
And the more I listen to it the less I like it.

With the way we have been playing of late why not the Laurel and Hardy theme tune. Coleman could put a little tash on and Jimmy bell could spike up a bit of his hair(Dead ringers tactically)!!

Having temporarly returned to my old post of "Tannoy Man", I had a chat with Coley against Chesterfield, and asked me to play "Swords of a thousand men" as the teams came out.

It seemed to do the trick!!!

nice to see you back coming in our ears again!

I'd love to hear nowt but known football anthems all the way up to whatever it is they want to run out to. IMHO it's all about atmosphere building and as it is a footy match most people can abide that sort of music. The problem with playing any other kind is that one sort of music will not wash with the young/old/seated/stood people and if you try to play all types to suit all types it just comes across as mish mash.

Sort of agree with Macca, even though he's not there till kick off. :)

It's just nice not being at the mercy of commercial radio, feels more like going to a football game. ;)
