Leighton McGivern

Leighton McGivern is now playing for Waterloo Dock in the Liverpool County Combination. To date (23 Sept) he has scored 15 goals in just 8 games.

You could give him his Sunday name, Leighton Terence McGivern-Henshaw, like they do on Wikipedia.:D

well how come he has scored 15 in 8 games either he is playing in the blind league or that he can get a shot/s on target

Isn't the Liverpool Combination about 5 levels lower than football league

Re: Leighton McGivern

Googling shows quite a few match reports where Leighton's scored. Try here: "Waterloo Dock" "Liverpool County Combination" mcgivern - Google Search.

One of the posts shows that he was also a top scorer for Waterloo Dock in 2005 before his move into league football.

Posted via Mobile Device He was a good player like said wasn't given the chance he needed shame he didn't get even a conference club which is a shame as he has the talent.

He's probably a good player at the level that he is playing. Rocky would be a good player if he was playing at that level. Doesn't mean to say that he is a good player at football league level. It just shows how good he is when he can only get a game for Waterloo Duck in the Liverpool Combination.

I remember the great goal he scored against macclesfield and then got his leg broke,he never got a chance after he recovered.I for one wish him well, hope he goe's on to better things.

Leighton McGivern made 22 appearances for Stanley (5 starts and 17 substitute) and he scored 2 goals.

Leighton McGivern made 30 appearances for Rochdale (2 starts and 28 substitute) and he scored 1 goal.

Not bad for a striker in league football is it? 52 appearances (7 starts and 45 substitute) scoring 3 goals. That is how good he is. I think he has found his level - Liverpool Combination not Football League.

And Coleman thought that form was good enough to sign him for Stanley as a much needed striker?

You're overlooking something Bagpuss. Where was he born? No you're wrong, it wasn't Manchester.

I was being sarcastic as I'm one of those who thought Leighton wasn't given a chance to prove himself but it does seem now that he has found a level of football where he should attract some interest so maybe another club might take a gamble on him.

He was a fans' favourite because he was quick and put a lot of effort into his game. This blinds the fact that he scored once in a blue moon. The stats don't lie. I agree that he has found his level. At best he's a Conference North player.

But to be fair (and why not), as I recall most of his appearances for Stanley were only for the last 10 or 15 mins in games that were already lost ....

He was never fit enough. When he was an Everton trainee he was super fit. He never got back to his best shape.
