But HAPPY to have seats on the Clayton End??...NEVER!!! |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
I wore my avatar shirt but too cold to protest it fully but will wear it if i have to guard my stand spot! Its got fluff all to do with the FL its about the plans that they had last year & then because its the cheapest easiest option sod the fans whom may i remind have stood there thro thick & thin, we were good enough then tho. Im not standing further back [as much as i appreciate the ultras work on the noise to gear up the lads on the pitch i dont think they'd want me either they need room too y know:D] so leaves me cowshed then, no im not happy but then again will only be coping with it till end of season then its a case of reviewin the situation payin on the gate.

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Yes of course SR is happy about it - its not where he perches as do many of the people that support the idea, clayton end looked empty enough last night - gonna be a lot emptier once seats are there. Logistically i cant envisage a good view either as that wall will have to be taken lower behind goals anyway!
|
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Where I have said I'm happy to upset loyal fans and people who I'm proud to call friends????
All I want, like the loyal fans (I hope) is for ASFC to punch well above its weight in the FL. I accept that 2000 seats really aren't required on average gates of 1800. BUT I'm senisble enough to know IF you want to play in the big boys league you MUST play by their rules!!! So 5K capacity, bright floodlights, full time staff, 2000 seats and all the rest!! SORRY, i'm happy to toe the line!! Iwant to go to Bradford, Bury, Lincoln and Rochdale, it sure beats Ashton Town, Darwen and Rhyl!!! |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Missed the point there SR, readin what u think im saying, its not about any of us wanting asfc to go down, we knew & worried about the FL rulings on ground for the past 3 seasons, now taking it back to least last season - there was no talk of putting seats in clayton end, there was talk of a new stand ... poss relocation......poss seats in covered coppice end BUT NOT in the clayton end till past few months!! Trouble is asfc have left it late purposely to find out our position in the league around xmas tho at beginning at the season because of the huge penalties Luton, r'ham & bournemouth recieved sort of cushioned the stay in the league on that merit, now means club have to get the ground sorted, rushed & without consideration before the 1st May or we're a stevenage boro & out like they were.

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Why the dreaded seats!!!!
Without extra seats we reprive Bournemouth and Luton Do true and loyal supporters want us to be the 1st club to be relegated from the FL because we haven't fulfilled their requirements???? I DON'T There are 900 seats enroute from Scotland, as I write. I KNOW, I've organised the movement. Another caring official was clever enough to do the deal with St. Mirren. The blue Maine Road seats are probably NOT required, but are available IF needed!! The top men at the club DO CARE, but are mindful of spending the clubs cash sensibly!!! |

Why has the club left it so late - we know why? The club are doing it now & rushed cos they now have to because Luton & Bournmouth have dictated that due to their points loss. Fans arn't stupid:( |

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Judging by the shirt colours and picture of the St Mirren stadium pending proposed redevelopment those seat won't be red either

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!

They, like Kiddy, Macc, and Alty never got promoted 1st time around. Also your other post is totally incorrect!! Please re-read my 1st post on this thread, nothing has changed apart from the fact that the St. Mirren seats have made the blue MCFC seats not required:) |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Thanks SR - yr post confirming that you really do think the paying fans are totally stupid!
I got that info from a boro fan before we got promoted warning us of the rulings i shall direct yr comment to him about that. BLUE SEATS we PLAY IN RED COLOURS AT HOME - how flippin tinpot, not only do we have to lose our standing position to seats but bloody blue ones an all :( |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Quote:
Mel, Where are you getting the idea of blue seats from???? The blue seats were a cheap option. Now because of some clever work we have enroute to us loads of red and white seats from St Mirren. NO I DONT THINK PAYING FANS ARE STUPID, I class these people as my friends:rolleyes: Stevenage have never been in the FL, fact!! The seating of the Clayton End is a Plan B, because Plan A to put a new stand on the Whinney Hill is currently more expensive than we can afford.FACT!!!! |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
FACT FACT FACT very condesending Mark insinuating im stupid cos im wrong, maybe but the club have been wrong for many a times this season - lack of correct info being told to fans, proven that listening & being proactive to critical comments or as i like to call it constructive, leaving the very important part of said critical seating issue being left to the last minute & wonders why its no bloody money - certainly since 2-3 games have been postponed due to weather conditions............need i go on im sure the rest of the paying fans whom have found disappointment on & off the pitch with stanley could add to.............& thats before i go on about exhibition late shirt launch & lack of taking opportunities or capitilising whilst the fans & potential fans were waiting with baited breath pre season...nowt to do with failing gates & apathy....! etc!
Now would that be based on fact or im i again stupid & wrong in everything i say?? I only go now to support the players on the pitch & just hope, cos the rest of asfc has lost me. |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Mel
Now I see why the forum link has been dropped from the website!! I still think of you as a friend:) Yes mistakes are made by the club But why this rant??? The club have to add the covered seats at minimal expense, because we have no money. Its nothing to do with postponed matches, its to do with issues that even I'm struggling to get my head around! Please let's not fall out, I do believe we all support the same cause?? |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Friends can disagree or even agree to disagree if the case as it maybe, seriously i have lost my faith in the club as in backroom, the fellas on the pitch are still obtaining my faith in them atm. Im a fan supporter, even got a season ticket on the strength this year would be a positive one from all sides, slowly draining maybe seein the stuff i have & the frustration that keeps fueling, things that are positive was drained, ie the documentory prog, the media launch, the connection with the club to its fans have been at its all time low - removing the link from the website has only infuriated that. Sorry that there is a few of us that will voice our opinion out loud but because maybe we dont feel heard or its brushed off, ie like u cant see the grumbles from those in the lower clayton end - maybe u should stand with us for a few games see what we see? [but ok yr in the hospitality so suppose u cant], ok look at the pics of games that goaline least with people there supporting the team & kenny...we have a role too, i simply cant see the seats improving the fes [yes i know we need them] as far as the energy & support that area gives as in atmosphere as wynonie says. Those are the points that u dont get is the feeling about it not the fact we need it YES we know we do!
As far as boro yes im corrected slightly as not in league but getting to league. Im riding out this season then next season im backing off in all fronts, maybe a highly motive feeling for the little club needs a break. |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
SR, you have said yourself on a number of occasions that we knew from the moment we won that match at Woking in 2006 that we'd have to meet football league rules by installing the extra seats. So why didn't the club start planning from that moment for those extra seats? Why didn't they capitalise on the wave of positive feeling and enthusiasm that surrounded the club that summer by perhaps running a "Make A Stand for Stanley" campaign? But, no, it was the same old flying-by-the-seat-of-your pants, "summat'll turn up" mentality. And so, the issue was put off time and time again. In fact, when a rumour did surface about seats on the Clayton End, the club got all indignant and said it wasn't going to happen.
...and so time went by and nothing was done until we've now reached the moment when the quickest and cheapest option is the only one available, neatly allowing the club to take the higher moral ground with their "if you don't want seats on the Clayton End, you don't want the club to stay in the league" approach. So, that's it, we'll just have to like it or lump it...I just hope that too many don't do the latter. :( |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
I think there should be a questions and answers night about the ground etc soon! So people there and then can voice their opinions to the relevant people!
|
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
yes ill come to that and bring some seats
1 new stand as well |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Quote:
That Fc is an excellent post, speaks sence i wonder if the club will volunteer that or as wynonie says its lump it attitude will continue to privail  Think that also goes back to the point of withdrawing the link providing the club with excuse to distance themselves from any level of discussion, tho its ok for Eric to slag off the townspeople for not coming to the FES - he still doesnt get actually why  Its a two way street Eric! |

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
but if asked would you take over the website again?
|
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
I know that I have asked this question before:rolleyes: but at the risk of repeating myself, why can the seats not go to the left and right? As it seems to me that not as many stand on the outer edges, most seem to (in my experience) huddle together in the central 3/4rs ish:confused: There was an answer posted that the view was impaired to the outers, but checked it out and it aint:confused: I know it may not be the perfect answer but I feel that it would be a better solution than what is proposed!! I know it might not suit everybody but, we - me included have to accept that its going to happen so lets have it the best way for most of the fans in the stands:)
|
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Quote:
The experts have advised the cheapest, safest and simplest way to install the necessary seats. The RED AND WHITE seats (NOT BLUE) are going in where we have been told they are. No amount of slagging off of anybody will change that. We will just have to get used to it. We are a football league club now not a non-league outfit where you can walk around the ground. We have to abide by the rules and that is that. Of course the club left it to the last minute, probably to see how much money was available. We may have had a good cup run, we may have had television money. Unfortunately that did not happen so it has to be the cheapest option. It is going to happen so stop moaning and get used to it. |

I've moaned with the best but the question that I've always wanted to ask is "Why Eric did you not keep your promise and step aside when we got promoted to the FL?"
He said he didn't have the "clout" (money) to enable Stanley to progress if we ever got into the FL, offers were made to him but he didn't go. My own view is he is old school and not forward thinking enough and now has become a liabilty to Stanley. |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Watch this space on seats update tonight.... The blue seats were plan B There is going to be NO plan B as 900 Red and white seats have arrived in Lancashire and will be at the ground tomorrow 90% are Red so Colour problem solved.
I have this on good authourity has i saw the seats at a previous ground on Tuesday morning and have photo's which i will at some stage forward on to Kippax and Macca for club archive. They come from a current Scottish Premier League Club who have re located thanks to Tesco:rolleyes: they are the same style as we have now and will match up nicely. Anybody who can help keep an eye on this thread later as SR is posting an update... Lets keep positive chaps and chapesses (Is that how you spell it) - Most people are giving there best Trust me... |

Well it looks like they have finally arrived,
Ground development Friday 13th Feb 2009 http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/ball.gifhttp://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/line.gif The seats have arrived, now we need your help! Accrington Stanley have taken delivery of over 900 plastic seats from St Mirren, and we need your help to off load them from 9.30am on Saturday morning! Meeting at the Fraser Eagle Stadium we will be taking them from a large articulated lorry and storing them ready to begin fitting in the next week or so. As many people as possible are required to help with the task, with a free pint or equivalent for those under 18, at the end for all who help! Fitting date don't you think:rolleyes: |

I know that'll be seen as a cop out, but I don't see what's so daunting about asking Rob a hostile/awkward question...what's he going to do...launch a kung fu attack on the questioner?...ban them from the FES for life? However, like Bagpuss, I think there's only one question to be asked now...why doesn't Eric Whalley make good his intention to step down and sell the club to someone who has the financial clout and the ideas to take us further forward (and I don't mean that Horace Batchelor feller!). |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Quote:
The Blue seats were always Plan B. Can't say we havn't got them, because although they aren't yet at the FES they are 18 miles from the ground, gathering moss!! they've been a plan gone wrong from some 3 years, and now we don't need them are likely to be there for another 3 years!! I don't think I have ever said seats had arrived at the FES, just knew I could move them cheaply and quickly if no other option!! Brand new seats cost £25 each to buy without fitting, the blue ones were free, hence the interest. The blue ones numbered 300; they WOULD have gone on the cowshed, Whinney Hill. We always planned to put RED seats on the Clayton End, when it became clear (from the experts) that was the cheapest option!! Modular seating was around £80 per seat, and the space on the Whiney Hill at 3 deep would not have given us the required number to satisfy the FL. The St Mirren seats are costing considerably less, and based on their average gates of 4K most of them will have never been regularly used!! |

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
The Kop The Stretford End The Longside - All legendary terracing, ten years ago or so they were compulsary made all seating and yes the fans had there say but took to the seating and made the best of what they were given and although it will never be the same again they are still great places to be.
Ten years later Accrington Stanley are being asked to comply with the League requirement which we all accepted on gaining promotion, nobody on the magnificent day said "I dont want FL promotion we will have to fit some seats" Lets face facts here... You the fans dont want seats, The Directors dont want the seats but we must comply, this seat buisness will cost the club a lot of money it hasn't got. What would you say if The Board ignored the seat regulation and the club were asked to leave the Football League ??? You would rightly come on here in droves and destroy the Board for neglecting the seat issue and will probably ask them to resign en mass. Dave O'Neill, Mark and all the board have worked hard to ensure the seats will be fitted, two or three rows of seats across the front of The Clayton End will be perfect for the Ultras to drape banners on stood behind that the singers, the terrace will still be a great place to be just like The Kop and the Longside. It boils down to two things 1, Seats or 2, Football League expulsion the choice is yours. I am trying to be positve here and yes the situation is far from perfect but it is what we must do to to maintain Football League Status. |
Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!
Quote:
I'm afraid I don't agree. The only reason the Kop makes any noise and the same with the Stretford End is because as big clubs they are allowed to break the law and remain standing. I can tell you first hand there are times when we had 2 or 3000 on the Longside and it was 100 times louder than it is now. Seats have helped to kill the atmosphere, and even to this day one of the biggest and most constant complaints among Burnley fans is about the constant eviction of home fans by over zealous control freaks in orange jackets who seek every opportunity to enforce the seating rule. The majoirty of fans would still vote for standing areas, myself included. Yes it's a league requirement but it doesn't mean to say people have to like it, and in defence of those Stanley fans on here who do object to the seats, for some to suggest they would rather see the club be demoted is an insult to them. |
