Re: The unofficial official v Grimsby thread..
I'd be surprised if we see Clarke in a Stanley shirt again, despite today's goals.

Good result today; if we'd not got the three points it would have been a travesty of justice. Thought Edwards and Charnock played well ..... :hehetable |

Re: The unofficial official v Grimsby thread..
Well, first of all a big well done to Jamie Clarke. I hope he gathers confidence from his hat trick today and takes it into the forthcoming games he plays for us.
There is however a very long way to go. I don't mean to sound cynical here; but the team played no better than usual - they just met weaker opposition. I am worried about Paul Mullin's performance. He seems to lack confidence and is not playing with his usual degree of gusto. John Miles. John bloody Miles. Why he can't stick on the left wing and do his job is beyond me. He doesn't just drift inside, he makes up an entirely new position (about the only thing he does create) between the wing and midfield, successfully contributing nothing at all to the game. Chris King ran the whole left side today (a job well done might I add) and against better opposition we'd have conceded many from breaks on the right flank due to Miles' absence. I was impressed with the defence though. They seemed to protect Dunbavin a lot more than the last match I saw against Rotherham. We needed the points today, well done Reds. |
Re: The unofficial official v Grimsby thread..
I know Clarke isn't the greatest, but maybe he was encouraged by the early loud shouts from the Cowshed Mafia of "B*gger off back to t'Rovers you bl**dy dope."
Those guys are an inspiration to anyone!!! |
Re: The unofficial official v Grimsby thread..
Despite the half lack lustre performance in many spells, im certainly not complaining about the result made my new year amongst the great welcome received at the hub of stanley behind the scenes - have to thank Mick Shultz a million for making my day:thankya:

Re: The unofficial official v Grimsby thread..
Whilst it was 3 points won, the performance was totally unacceptable. No spirit and at times the team looked lost. Grimsby's goal was a joke, why on earth Bav's didn't kick it clear is beyond me. However, Jamie took his 3 goals well but at times didn't seem interested and other times wanted to take on the 11 men of Grimsby. I think a spell in midfield with brother John would suit Paul Mullin, he has been a great servant to the club but I amongst others think he has lost his touch up front. Jimmy Ryan for me was a sensation and Cav played well, but how that referee missed so many fouls by Grimsby players is beyond me. I haven't a clue what he and his assistants were watching, but it wasn't this match. Lets hope this win instills some confidence for the match against 'Dale next Saturday, because it didn't instill much confidence in me.
