As Shankly said """Football is a simple game made complicated by people who should know better", and what you said is as simple as it gets. The only thing I would add is that it takes longer to win them back than it does to lose them.

Another own goal from the Stanley school of customer services I think

What a statement to make "stay away fans responsible if stanley drop through the football league trap door" all I can say to that is b******s If we do drop back out of the league the blame must surely rest with the way the club is run both on and off the field don,t get me wrong I and many other are quite aware of what it takes in both time and money to maintain the club but with statements like that do they really expect people to spend hard earned money to get stabbed in the back?
God I,M bloody raving mad that mad that at this moment in time I could quite easily say b******S to it all

Stating fact maybe, but how about he said " We need more people to come and support us so we can push on a bit more". Yes it's stating the obvious and will probably be ignored by a lot of people, but I can bet people will notice what he has 'allegedly' said about where the blame lies if they go down, which is a total negative and only gets peoples backs up.

The other thing to bear in mind of course is that it is a newspaper story, is it all directly quoted or 'interpreted' ?

all he was saying was if he we had more fans equals more money than we could by better things. like instead of shopping in netto we could shop in waitrose! more fans means better wages to offer players who we make a bid for etc, means better football, better off the pitch things! and before you know it we will be lifting the premier league cup! after beating united 2-0 on the crown ground! ryan and p.mullin score!

Must agree.

One thing's for sure. If we get thrown out of the Football League over these bloody seats, all we have to do is muck about in non-league for 40 years until we get another big gate ;):D

But surely no-one can ignore the fact that the club seems to treat its fans so badly. The evidence is clear to see in so many other threads. Letters and emails unanswered, agreements not kept, etc, etc.

K-P is partly correct - a winning team will attract fans. The problem Coley seems to ignore is that loyal fans feel so badly treated that they no longer feel as committed as they once did. Some of those who would turn up, win or lose, are no longer doing so. The club MUST address that fact. We know that Eric Whalley is no Abramovich. No-one imagines that. But we would like to see him running the club in a way that shows its appreciation of the loyal fans.
