Phil Edwards

.... apparently the stumbling block with Phil is that he wants a 1 year contract and we want to give him a 2 year contract. he has agreed terms and conditions just not the length.

he is 23 at the moment and will be available on a Bosman by the end of next season if he only signs a one year contract .....

..... or, now if he doesn't sign anything, presumably. :(

Surely we're better signing Phil for one year rather than not at all, with the cut in wages the lads are being asked to take you can't blame him for not wanting to tie himself to it for two years.

We will be lost with phil if you just watch the amount of work and effort he does in 90mins is quality! You cant blame no player for wanting to take a pay cut! Quite big proberly aswell! Surprised no other club has offerd him a new contract yet. top quality player!

We will have to face facts on this one, in the long run we will lose him, next season Bosman, now for free!! So lets at least get him signed up for next season and get another good season from him. We will have to hope for improving gates, top 10/play-offs, good cup runs and maybe some generous donations... ;) :) But either way a Stanley defence with Edwards in it is a better one - just on another note, with all of our "Club Captains" transfer listed, awaiting trial Etc. surely Phil is the ideal candidate for the armband and I was always of the understanding it was a job you were paid for?? Maybe not?? (Sorry for stealing your thunder MCR:D) Just a thought....

Not sure? I thought it went from Cav to Mullers then Proccy to Rocky ????? Phil has had the job recently, but that was in the main because Mullers was not there. :):) Either way give it to Phil next season :):) In his absence - which is not very often - Kenny :)

top player but not captain material in my opinion, if there is gonna be a change i would prefer to see kenny as he is more vocal than phil. thats phils only fault in imho he doesnt really organise the defence

Have always thought Leam would make a good captain, but that's academic - let's get the lads we need signed asap and then the pecking order can be decided.

If we manage to get Godwin then he is big enough and loud enough for the Captain's armband. He did a lot of organising of the defence when we had him on loan.

I did to actually until a mate of mine saw him in town, he just talks in shouts apparently, on the field makes it look like he's organising :P
