The club being around next season is good news :) Just not too sure about Eric still being in charge  Just hope it all works out :):):)

I think the fact that Eric Whalley is sticking around is a good thing. Give the bloke some credit.

We ought to kiss Eric's posterior, I don't fancy it much myself, but it had to be said!

I'm fed up of doing that. Everything is so cryptic. If you are implying that there never was going to a 'take-over', then it doesn't surprise me.

You get nothing cryptic from me, there was never a take over from O'Neill, it was all just a sham.:(

It's not a good thing it's the worse news we could get, give him some credit, ok, for getting us into the FL, after that no chance.

Tin Monkey 29-05-2009 18:53

Re: Take over off

I know what you mean Bagpuss, mistakes have been made and ignorance shown. But all I can think about is Stephen Vaughn at Chester and thank the stars that we don't have someone like him.

What I meant by 'credit', was that at least Eric is going to be there to guide us through this and not walk away like some jonny-come-lately. Eric alienates people, me included, but his heart pumps Stanley blood.

This from the Ilyas speaks thread......

Re: Ilyas speaks ..... What an unmitigated disaster. I am embarrassed and sick to the pit of my stomach after reading the statement. Bagpuss, you are absolutely correct in your surmise (about Mr W concocting a story about there being interested "parties" for his shares only in trying to generate money into his pocket. How sickening). That sham, and more has now come to light, as has the fact that the club has been negligent (putting it mildly) with its obligations. I am also really quite shocked at the tone of the statement. Someone somewhere has to wake up and smell the coffee. Sorry guys, but I just dont know how to react other than to share the deep regret of all true fans.

One thing, however, is for sure. This club will not go down. Not whilst we are around. The club is bigger than any one individual, and its time for the board to act in the interests of the club, and not the interests of a Chairman who has been found out like the emperor with no clothes on. How on earth can we owe the taxman £300,000 and be taken to court. What other debts are there ? Lets have a full disclosure and lets then get people to subscribe to a new share issue and save the situation. I am ready to lead the way with at least £250,000. And you can quote me on that.

A very sad and sorry Ilyas Khan

As I say, it doesn't surprise me. We said the very same thing in the car on the way to Rotherham (or Sheffield if you want). We were actually hoping that wasn't the case.

So has Eric explained how Ilyas with his offer to buy £250,000 worth of shares and his business acumen, is going to be involved in all this? :)

So he was wanting to sell, but did not have any buyers. So make up a pretend buyer and hope someone else comes in with a better offer???? Hence when Gordon Burns asked Eric, "Who has just sent you the text" saying '' Do not sell until you have spoken to me" It was all just an elaborate charade...

If I am not wrong Baggy, please do not reply to this message - well at least not yet.....;):)

Here f@kin here, the guy got us here with his own bloody money

Yet Accyweb constantly make sly digs like he was a John Friggin Bathchelor......

Without Eric, half the posters on this board would still be Rovers, Burnley, Liverpool etc etc

1999 we had 300 on the gate remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Take over off

i think the lines get blurred as to whose club it is Willie.

we think that the club is 'ours' as it 'belongs' to Accrington but Eric actually owns it and technically can do what he wants with it at any point (just like Mr Harchester!)

It's not Erics fault that Fraser Eagle went tits up, it's not his fault that the world is in severe financial decline, and its definitely not his fault that Lord Mawhinney (or Mulwhinney as Eric called him) saw fit to enforce the ruling on ground grading.

However as Chief Custodian of the club it IS his fault that the club has consistently failed to develop any meaningful revenue streams, other than matchday, during his 14 year tenure, it IS his fault that the club didn't spend 3 years trying to find a better remedy to the seating problem, it IS his fault that HE has consistently alienated many fans and many small businesses in the borough.

Eric is the nearest human equivalent of a double edged sword. There is no doubt that without him we would be playing in the BSP North and dreaming of the National version but on the other hand it is the penny pinching or bare minimumness (is that a word?) that has led us to reaching our pinnacle without any real way of making any money other than by having a succesful team - which we can't have cos we can't afford one!

I've never known what I truly think of the guy because he tries his damndest to rebuff endearment - but I do find his honest way of talking to be 'very Accringtonian' if not entirely honest

Re: Take over off

It is also not Eric's fault that some fans entire Stanley experience revolves around moaning.... which in turn makes others moan....

Accrington Stanley with all its faults has come a long way since 1999. Probably too fast. Anyone remember the old club shop..... remember the old programme..... half time draw prize was a bottle of wine etc etc

Everyone forgets the MAJOR progress, yet everyone remembers the MINOR flaws in the commercial side.

Its ****in hard work running a football club especially inthe current financial climate. Its even harder when SUPPORTERS are calling you a **** for trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Must agree with both of the above, fair and honest assessments :) Lets just all (who really want to) pull together for The Stanley, and put this thing behind us :)

It is also his fault that the taxman has not been paid. The buck stops at the top and lets face it, the TV show last year did him no favours, nor the club IMHO. But rather than pointing the finger, we should all help and offer solutions to the problems. It is now time for Eric Whalley to stand up and listen to the fans of Accrington Stanley et al and accept offers of help. That way, it will supply a solution to the take-over problem and maybe offer him a way out.

Stop pointing out our faults and work together, when you two can do that, then you work towards working with (Eric) the club to find a resolve. I don't think that any one man can solve this issue, its going to be a team effort.

Am I right in thinking you're comparing Willie Miller with Macca?

From my experience Mr. Miller's posts on here are mainly self serving, whilst Macca ........... well his head just explodes with ideas to forward Stanley.

You're right it needs to be a team effort, that needs team players though, and a bit of maturity.

Working with the Club/Eric is another question again, and therein lies the rub.
