These...........

O’Neill has also declared his intention to get all parties interesting in investing in the club together for talks - including the newly formed Accrington Stanley Supporters’ Fund, which has not yet tabled its own anticipated £250,000 bid for a controlling share..

but nobody has approached us with anything.

I suppose that the papers can put their own twist on things though....;):)

Same confusion here. It's all gone quiet on the Fund. I see that your last question on that thread has not been answered, Valairian. It's 3 days since you asked. Has there been a meeting between the club and the Fund representatives?

I think the rule is 5 Shaker, so we are OK with him, also I think Coley is looking to bring Alan Martin in on loan as a keeper so we still have room for a couple of defenders, just not Charnock if the other post is correct :(:(

:) GoOD LUCK TO THEM :)Cherries earn winding-up reprieve

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/image...emouth_203.gif
Bournemouth have had a winding-up petition against them adjourned for at least three months. The League Two club have been given the time to make a payment to HM Revenues and Customs, who had issued the winding-up petition.
HMRC confirmed they have given the Cherries time to ensure they can service the debt, and the case will now be heard in 12 weeks' time.
The Cherries are now looking to get their League transfer embargo lifted.
The south-coast club's new chairman Eddie Mitchell revealed earlier this month that an interim payment was made to HMRC soon after the Murry Group completed their takeover at Dean Court.

Re: bits n bobs

riddled with inaccuracies - but I agree it's a devent write up without the usual condescening tones that others insert far too easily.

I hope the bookies still agree that we are favourites to go down because it'll make my tenner go a bit further (I think we might make the play offs this year).

goalkeepers

Arthur was a huge loss and Dunbavin simply isn't a replacement. If we can get a solid replacement then we have a good chance

Defence

Chris King was outstanding until he was injured, Leam would have been a more than adequate replacement but he too was injured. Keep both of these fit and left back is nailed down.
Cavanagh or Murphy at right back doesn't fill me with a huge amount of confidence but Murphy could turn out to be a revelation
Edwards, Kempson and Winnard at centre half - any two from three will do me nicely. Winnard was sought after by a few clubs so hopefully he will be the signing of the season for us.

Midfield

Chris Turner will hopefully carry on the massive progress he showed last year whilst Bobby Grant simply has to have a big season and realise the potential that Coley saw in him to make him Stanleys youngest ever player. Jimmy Ryan will also carry on proving Liverpool and Shrewsbury wrong to back up why Notts County link has him down as one of the brightest young talents in the division. Add Luke Joyce, Andy Proctor, John Mullin and we have a reasonably competitive midfield.

Attack

Paul Mullin will probably be used a little more sparingly this year and I would expect it to be his last. But we know what we will get with Mullers and that is 100% commitment and a fair share of flick ons for a little, fast ****** such as Billy Kee. The reports we have read over the last couple of days suggest that this could be the biggest rabbit ever pulled out of Coleys hat. Provided that Mullers can get his flick ons, and that Turner, Grant and Miles can get the crosses for him, provided that Ryan can thread balls through the eye of needle, then we may just see Kee bag an absolute sack full. Miles, Symes and maybe Lindfield will all have a part to play but I wouldn't imagine any of them will contribute a great deal.

Last season we were close to having a good side, we have lost one good player (and we expected to lose more) but have added three fantastic signings. The main one being Kee. If we had scored more last season we would have challenged, its as simple as that.

Football is all about luck sometimes, and I dont think we have our fair share. If we can avoid silly injuries and suspensions then the squad can settle.

I'm optimistic this year

agree with all yer post macca, i am also optimistic even more so if a good keeper is sourced, that with the squad as is, i see as vital.

He turned down the deal because it meant a pay cut.

VALAIRIAN 29-07-2009 20:07

Re: bits n bobs

I know it was a pay cut, but he says he wants to stay at the club, so if he does then accept the deal and stay for longer, thats all I am saying. As I stated I love Mullers and think he is an important part of our recent history and if he wants it that much then he would sign up.

shakermaker 29-07-2009 20:19

Re: bits n bobs

I'm sure Paul would accept any reasonable pay cut that he could afford to take.

Oldgobbin 29-07-2009 21:58

Re: bits n bobs

I may be a bit thick here, but I don't really think it would be beneficial to the club to give a player a two-year contract because "he is an important part of our recent history". Surely that suggests that a large part of his job might now have been completed and now we should be looking for young, hungry players to take us forward. As I have said before, I agree with most folks on here that Paul has been a great servant to Stanley but he's done his job and now is the time to move on.
