interested onlooker

Hi guys

I know you lot are going through the mill atm with your tax problems. I have been trying to understand what is going on exactly but not sure I get it so can somebody explain please? I know you need to pay 300k in tax but

a) i presume this is PAYE, so how is it possible to get that far into arrears, do HMRC not collect this money on a monthly basis?

b) is it fair to say eric whalley has to shoulder the blame? was he responsible for ensuring the books balanced?

c) there was a rumour that there was 25k donated which never made it to HMRC and that your new owner is investigating. this is probably a legal minefield so don't answer this one if you can't, but does anybody know for sure if this is true and if so, where the money went?

Cheers and good luck

Dave

Thanks for the interest Dave !...It's a long story and the answers are to be found on this Forum...if one searches diligently!.

BUT !....do let your football loving friends know about the on-going situation with 'The Reds'
...have a look at the S.O.S. on the Official Site...and if, like so many other Fans up and down the country, you feel able to make some financial statement of your concern...then I can assure you of eternal gratification ( Oooops, I don't think that's quite right !)...I can assure you of the eternal gratitude of all at ASFC !.

From what I can tell the answer to b) is yes and the answer to c) is general running costs.

Part of the answer to a) appears to be that it actually hasn't been paid for quite a while and now includes interest/late fees.

Is it fair to say that the playing squad was over-invested in, leaving the club in a loss-making position they are struggling to get out of?

From what I can decipher, the tax debt was built up from our conference winning year, probably meaning that players bonuses etc will have pushed the bill up higher than usuall (we won quite a few games that season!!)...........this is NOT an official statement, merely an observation on my part and conjecture:)

We are in dire straits at the moment and desperatley need all the help we can get, however small................so please if you feel the wish to help feel free to do so :-

in simple terms dave as i see it, the reds rose too quick too soon, if that makes sense, given the fact it was n ameatur set up, they had to go professional with all extra cost that entails, lowest wages in league no doubt about that, lowest gates, etc etc, so in fairness over investing in squad aint really the case, Mismangement by previous owner can be levied, fact remains to me any team that gets promotion has earned it no question, since our league entry the "Ultras" have gained much praise from many places QPR recently to name one, these fans certainly do not deserve to see the demise of one of the founder members of the football league, nor do owd gets like me, hope you lot down Dagenham feel the same. regards.:);)
