New Penalty Taker

"Although Alan Martin is now one of our most promising youg goalkeeping talents he can't shake his old love for scoring goals. The 20-year old has adopted the role of penalty taker with Accrington Stanley after his loan move from Leeds. He added "I still train outfield once a week with the Leeds squad, the Under-19's or the reserves. Kicking the ball about is brilliant. I was named the new penalty taker at Accrington earlier this season. The other boys weren't happy about it. However, we've had three games without a penalty since then so I haven't had the chance to score yet. When we finally get a spot-kick I need to make sure the ball doesn't rebound. I will have one hell of a run back up the park if the other team counter-attack"

Well one is most certainly needed Jeff!!..and, having seen many keepers taking penalties do you know I can't remember seeing one miss!!.

But I bet others won't share in this message of confidence !.

On the contrary my friend! I agree wholeheartedly :)

As you know, us Scots are a frugal lot, and, I am sure that young Mr Martin would not allow anyone a 'free' shot on goal and so am most assured that a penalty miss is NOT on the cards..............honest :D



However if Phil Edwards could stay on the goal line..........................just incase!

to be honest, "Long John Silver" would make a better penalty taker than "Proccy" so young martins fine by me.:D

just hope Coley has the savvy to get t'other 10 strung across our goal-line while Alan is upfield trying his luck !

Apparently Luke Joyce was supposed to take the penner but he was substituted before it. Well done Phil. :)

Great penalty, hard,wide and high - two keepers would not have saved it :D :D Well done Phil :)
