thats how i see it, being at the forum, that makes to me a "Poor"/"Wrong" Assumption, nothing else.

The national fund raising initiative designed to secure the future of Accrington Stanley Football Club.

Accrington Stanley is sending out an SOS to all football fans! The initial agreement between Stanley and HM Revenue and Custom saw the club set to repay the unsettled tax bill of £308,000 in the next 12 months. However this has now been reduced and confirmed to just 8 weeks.


Now I have no idea ???????????????

Wish somebody could tell us straight :rolleyes:

The story seems to change to meet the present requirements of the club on an almost daily basis.

The above statement is true,inso much as that was what was said at the forum....................however todays statement says something different :-

"Club chairman David O'Neill explained "Whilst we continue with the current fund raising activities I would like to point out and clarify that at no time has Accrington Stanley Football Club and HMRC had any formal agreement in place to pay its outstanding arrears over a twelve month period, and that the previous regime had only reached agreement to be given time to implement a structured payment scheme"

Therefore, if there was no agreement in place, how the hell can HMRC 'move the goalposts'?..................Makes no sense to me Im afraid!

I think the key word there regarding the agreement is 'Formal'. I have no idea what went on in the club's negotiations with the HMRC, but maybe an individual told the club that it seemed that a 12 month deal was possible, but then the powers-that-be over-ruled that and demanded the repayment all at once?

One thing I do know, though, is that supposedly anonymous people on internet forums shouldn't cast aspersions in the belief that they can't be traced.

think its all in the wording uk, a verbal agreement aint a formal agreement as far as i'm aware.

Generally speaking, verbal agreements made by inland revenue officials tend to be spoken in invisible ink :D

12 months 12 days 12 weeks whats it matter now anyway we need £308k pretty fast. :eek: They might give us more time if we raise most of it so I think thats all that matters at the moment. Khans said he will match the money the directors put in with no strings so thats always there as well.

I was negative at first but I suppose we have to trust them to get the club out of this mess and if they do shaft the people of Accrington in whatever why I' sure a few of us will track them all down :uzi:;)

Does anyone know why the £45k in loans given to the club haven't been transferred to the SOS fund yet?

Does anyone think that getting Steven Gerrard involved in an all-star friendly would help the club raise some money towards the SOS fund? Given that he has a good friendship with Ian Dunbavin I think this could be achievable.

Because the SOS fund is for donations, and loans aren't donations. I would guess the loans would be used to make up any shortfall from the SOS fund.

I think Gerrard should pitch in with a weeks wages, as a donation for Bavs and Bobby taking the rap for him.
