Re: Vs Rochdale match thread
Well done Accrington - you deserved to win today and played the best football I have ever seen from Stanley. We were shocking though and the worst I have seen from Dale this season. Your fans did you proud as usual and I really hope you will not be going bust. I am looking to our return match next year and hopefully get a better result than today.:)

Re: Vs Rochdale match thread
Utterly exhausted from lack of sleep, got bloody wet through on the walk, done my leg in celebrating Symes' scorcher and have lost my voice from singing for the 90 mins.
Today has been awesome. |

Re: Vs Rochdale match thread
We played well today.
After the first half, I was worried Dale would continue to dominate us physically but we continued our effective inter-change in midfield and it paid off. Symes lead the line very well, holding the ball up, bringing it down, winning headers - he is a key player for our team with the general lack of height in midfield. I though Mconville didnt really get invovled today, although fair play to the lad he doesnt have a left foot so you couldnt expect him to be running past defenders down the outside. I also though Joyce was quiet. Our full backs where strong all game both defending and going forward. Our MOM has to be Symes although Lees was impressive. I doubt Dale will play that badly again, based on todays performance you would not predict them to be a top 6 team. Dont forget, it could have been more than 2 goals. Kenny Authur made 2 good saves. |

Previous posters have said it all, but I have to point out Stanley's fantastic attitude today from front to back - never stopped chasing, harrying and pressing the Dale. Awesome!

Re: Vs Rochdale match thread
Part of me wanted the whistle to go. But I fought back against that feeling because I wanted to savour life as Accrington Stanley in the Football League. Secondly but for 3 superb saves by Kenny Arthur the match would have been way beyond redemption for Rochdale.
I thought Winnard played really well with some deft interceptions. Cool play intricately getting out of some dangerous situations and good work on the flanks. Symes goal one of the best I have ever witnessed first hand. Here's a brace he got against Sheffield Wednesday: YouTube - Bradford City 3 Sheffield Wednesday 1 Oct 29 2004 Stanley were absolutely superb. If that's the last memory of Accrington having a league club at least it was a great performance. I thought it ironic that such a strong playing side should be hanging by a thread. Was it inevitable that things would turn out like this? |
