Accrington Stanley v Bury

Johnstone's Paint Trophy
Venue: Crown Ground Date: Tuesday, 10 November Kick-off: 1900 GMT
Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live, BBC local radio

TEAM NEWS

Accrington are not expected to risk John Mullin (ankle) despite the midfielder returning to the bench for the FA Cup win over Salisbury. Leam Richardson (groin) and Chris King (knee) remain sidelined.
Bury defender Efe Sodje is suspended for a fifth yellow card and strikers Andy Morrell (ankle) and Andy Bishop (groin) are unlikely to feature.
Damian Allen (virus), Danny Carlton (Achilles) and Tom Elliot (hamstring) are all out.

plus Worrell out to for 4 weeks. Down to bare bones is an understatement matey.

No excuses our 1st eleven is still pretty decent and capable of winning.

Biggest problem is that we only have 1 fit striker at the club and Knills trying to get a loan player in quick. Tonight youll see a winger played upfront (Jones), a central midfielder (Baker) play wide and Buchanan whose a left back playing at right back in a 4 4 2.

Sounds like us, but every game. Winger at Striker. Check. Centre Mid at wing. Check. Right-back at left-back. Check.

Only difference is we choose to play like that week-in, week-out.

A decent cup tie with kamikaze defending, raucous challenges, plenty of Blood & Thunder and a win to boot, I must say the link up play between Symes & Grant is fantastic to watch probably something that has been missing since our return to the League

Would like to avoid Leeds till the Area Final as then it is over two legs so more pennies in the kitty and then should we survive that MK Don's or Norwich at Wembley should prove a healthy attendance and another good pay day.

To dream costs nothing:)

Tbh it was a poor match, with some sloppy play. At least we are through. Cant believe we didnt work out to stop crossing the corners to the BFG on the other team.

A great cup tie. Yellow cards, tons of goals with some shocking defending by both teams.

Agreed some of the play between Grant & Symes was again superb.

Myles obviously isnt fit, and shouldent be keeping Gary King out the side, but i cant really complain if we keep winning :)

Roll on saturday

Miles was really poor tonight, but coley knows hes one of those players that can play poor for 89 minutes but a touch of magic in the last minute could win us the game, thats why hes in the side in my opinion

Midfield poor tonight and at times over-run tonight in my opinion..And why, oh why pump long, high balls towards players marked by a 6' 5" centre half?????

However, that said, the partnership between Symes and Grant looks to be flourishing, another step further in the competition and a few quid more in the pot....

A home tie in the semi's to anyone other than Leeds and there's the chance of a big pay day in a two legger in the Northern Area Final, T.V. cameras may and probably will be involved.:)

Good following from the Shakers fans tonight....incidentally....just what did the Ultras present to the Bury fans tonight???? I was round the back of the stand getting a coffee, heard some sort of presentation and wondered what they'd given the Bury fans as a thank-you for their help???

Pmsl blimey a text war lol. Can beleive stanley score before i get in the ground lol. Enjoyed the match and so glad it didn't get to pens. Think the lads did very well despite a heavy schedule and discovered there is bi polar goal keeping disorder lol going from one to other extremes lol. Miles looked sore but but in a great effort and dont want to get on wrong side of kempo lol tho had a great game. So is this the furthest we have gone to so far in the jpt ? And yep main stand did a bit of singing along too :)

Miles did not have a good night, nor did Proccy, as grimps said though symes scored from milesys corner, as were 2 goals on sat, agree with nickleson about not using subs, fer me Coleys only weakness, overall a good win tonight, Symes n Grant are proving a good combination, n even dunbavin kicked a few in the right direction tonight.:D

shakermaker 10-11-2009 21:39

Re: Accy V Bury team news

Pretty poor game to say it hosted five goals. The ball spent most of the time in the bloody air. The ref was a donkey. Both sides looked cream crackered. I thought Kempo should've got man of the match. Winnard played well again as did Joyce. Ain't it good to win int'cup :)

Reamer 10-11-2009 21:55

Re: Accy V Bury team news

Would agree with Cashy and Shaker. After a great start we lost our way. One of the great attractions of this season's footy has been the passing on the ground so why oh why did they start lumping it up in the air, against two very tall defenders ? Miles didn't look fully fit and a few more looked a bit jaded. Agree with the comments about Grant and Symes. All in all they made hard work of it but got there in the end. I was dreading it going to pens

Outback Ozzy 10-11-2009 21:56

Re: Accy V Bury team news

Just got back myself, missed the first goal, but to be honest, I though John Miles did not have too good a game, but as others have said, his play from corners gets Symes the goals. Symes and Grant are on fire up front. At least we did not have to suffer penalties especially as Phil Edwards was hobbling towards the end of the match.Good banter between 2 sets of friendly supporters, just a pity there had to be a loser. Well played Bury for making a match of it. Thought the crowd was somewhat larger than the 1637 put out over the PA, looked nearer 2,000 to me, but I do not count them. Great atmosphere throughout the night and it was nice to meet Yonmon. Another Accy webber to whom I can put a face to.

When Jimmy Bell was doing an interview on 2BR towards the start of the season (I think was in the preamble to an away game), he admitted that the subsitutes that they made tended not to work very well. That had been noted on this forum in the past ... maybe they've learned from past mistakes ;)

Fair point.
But there is no doubt Coleman and Bell have learnt so much in the past 3 years.
One shocking sub comes to mind - We brought on Wiliams as a striker/right midfielder when 2-0 down at home. I cant remember who we where playing but Coleman got rightfully slated for it post match.

Interesting to read on the Shaker's message board ( the fans version)that the winner of Tuesday's game got £12K... (sorry folks...no link)

Whether that is true remains to be seen, but if so........QUALITY ££££££:D:D

The Shakers fans seemed to be miffed about going out, maybe the £12k (if true!!) and the result of yesterdays draw may be the reason!!
