Re: Stanley Bit's & Bob's
Transfer Latest: Akande THE last time we updated you on the potential transfer of Nigerian striker Alex Akande, Accrington Stanley were awaiting news on a work permit for the 21 year old. Stanley were hoping to wrap up a permanent transfer for the front man, who impressed manager John Coleman on a recent trial in East Lancashire, but paperwork proved to be a stumbling block. Due to Akande's Nigerian nationality, coupled with him currently living in Hong Kong, the club required a work permit to allow him to join the club, but as Vital Stanley understand, the club didn't hear back from the home office in time to beat the 6pm transfer deadline. There could still be a loan deal concluded however. Akande is currently playing with Tai Chung of the Hong Kong First Division following an unsuccessful trial with English Premier League newboys Blackpool. Whilst with Blackpool the 6ft 1' striker played in one game, when he got a second half run out against Scottish Premier League side Hibernian. Full name Alexander Oluwatayo Akande, he is sometimes known as 'Alex Tayo' or 'Alex Akande', how about you just choose one instead of trying to confuse my research mate? He has had one previous spell in England, when he played for Waltham Forest who play in the Isthmian League First Division North. During his 16 appearances for the club in 2007/08, he managed to score 10 times. |
Re: Stanley Bit's & Bob's
A couple of nice pieces in the M.E.N.:
About our 'mean defence': Oxford United 0 Accrington Stanley 0 - Manchester Evening News About our 'cool headed' penalty win: Tranmere 1 Accrington Stanley 1 (Stanley won 5-3 on pens) - Manchester Evening News Good to have some positive press for once. :) |
