get in there Reds - great result from a potentially tricky tie.

Hopefully there will be some more games next saturday where top sides play each other and Torquay can echo to the sound of Stanley celebrating entering the play offs (if it hasn't happened tuesday night)

Tues night promises a humdinger v. Burton. Provided we do the business and then don't banana skin at Torquay, we could get out head above the parapet as Shrews have Rother & B'mouth next up.

Re: Match Thread; Home v Bradford City

A better performance from the Redmen, still cried out for a sub towards the end just to freshen it up a bit.

Looked a bit better balance with Luke Joyce returning to the starting line up, I would still like to see more use from the wings first half we were predictable high ball down down the middle that the two central defenders of Bradford lapped up.

Second half started keeping it down and playing it more around the pitch which eventually opened open the game.

Well done Milesy for his goals and the Reds for a much more rounded display:)

The game was poor, we were poor and the ref was worse. The good news being that for the first time in a few games we turned a couple of our chances into goals. Would've given the motm to Kempo but the goalscorers will always get the accolades. Well done reds, now let's see about resurrecting our passing play and our winning form. And of course absolutely stuffing Burton Albion.

Well must admit a VERY welcome 3 points indeed but Bradford agreed where shockingly poor.

If only their side could match their support.

Still cant believe Miles scored 2 and got MOTM.
He does nothing for 10 games and then does that, typical.

Thought Coley was abit OTT for celebrating right in front of us as if to say

"I told you so"

He needs to remember we pay our cash to watch the team so everybody has a right to complain about a bad performance.

Looking forward to Burton on Tuesday.

Like you, I was in the section by the dugout in the second half. Sticking two fingers up to the home fans was out of order IMHO, however, I forgive him. But isn't John Miles the most frustrating player Accrington Stanley possess. Does nothing and most fans in the block next to the dugout were calling for him to be subbed and then he pops up with 2 goals. I agree with other posters though, MOTM should have gone to one of the defenders, both Kempo and Mr suntan were outstanding, Tom Lees had a solid game and Dean Winnard was an excellent attacking back player. How Clarke (6) and Rehman (5) of Bradford managed not to get booked is beyond me, they looked like they were trying to tap up Symesy and Grant with the way they were hugging them in the penalty areas. Referee was totally blind to that and how the liner on the Whinney Hill terrace could give offside when a player is quite clearly 2 to 3 yards on side is beyond me. Totally and utterly clueless, the lot of them. Great to see the side get back to winning ways. Looking forward to Tuesday and Saturday now. Mucky weekend in Torquay here we come.

Turner is a great player was a breath of fresh air last season just like grant and symes have been this season, he gives us that option of wing play, picks up the ball and runs down the wing with it, skipping past defenders and good at crossing aswell, a loss if he goes,

Chris was very unlucky to get released by Burnley when he did IMO. He could definitely be the difference between Stanley getting the play-offs and not doing so this season.

:oAt that rate that puts home fans down as 1518 down 400 from the morecombe home game:( now i know that the away end and half the whinney hill hold's 1300 +100ish in the other half for away fans and that 100 seats was made available in the main stand next to the changing rooms for bcfc fans today, that makes 1500 which sounds a bout right to me not the 1878 they've reported. But i might be wrong:confused:

Chris along with Billy Kee still have the potential to be key figures in the run in of games from now till the end of the season, they are young and have a natural ability to influence games, please the crowd and change the pattern and shape of the side as well as games.

But to be able to do that they have to be given a chance

Couldnt get to the game today but a great result. Sounds like Bradford werent up for it but grateful for the three points. Did Coleman actually put two fingers up to the fans? If so thats unforgivable. People pay good money and have a right to air their opinion. Glad that changes were made from previous two games but someone might need to explain to Coleman what a squad is and not play his favourites week in week out when they obviously have tired legs. Thats my opinion.

Pretty sure that turner got a two year contract along with edwards and ryan so dont think he will be moving on. If hes fit he surely deserves a place in the team if last seasons performance was anything to go by.

No he didnt put 2 fingers up, but deliberately ran in front of the section that where rightly having a go at Miles when he scored. Abit childish if you ask me. Yes you made your point Coley but remember we have been paying and watching Stanley alot longer that you and Jimmy have!!!

Fair play to Miles for picking himself up and scoring 2. But lets see how he is next week shall we. As no doubt he is in the team till the end of the season now.

Must say that I like what is going on with the website and this sort of post match report! Keep up the good work :)

Match Reaction.

Sunday 21st Feb 2010.

Boss praises performance.

John Coleman had nothing but encouragement for his players after they defeated Bradford City 2-0 at the Crown Ground.

The victory came thanks to a brace from John Miles and was the perfect tonic to a run of three games without a win including the midweek disappointment at Lincoln.

“It’s a massive three points,” said Coleman. “We knew we were getting progressively better with our performances and thankfully we turned a decent performance into three points. It makes up a little bit for Tuesday but we can’t pass up too many more opportunities if we want to get where we want to get.”

Both goals came in the second half after a cagey first 45 minutes that was a long way from a classic. But the show of resilience and patience from his men left the Stanley manager delighted.

“I thought it was a very professional performance. They worked ever so hard and we produced some good passing movements. We had a little bit of a let off early in the second half when the lad blazed over the bar but apart from that they haven’t carved out a chance in open play.

“We scrambled a corner away but that was about them then; that’s all they had. We were a constant threat all day, on the front foot and wanted to take the game to them even when they threw four up front at the end.”

Having only made one change from the side that lost at Sincil Bank, Coleman admitted that he was happy with the response he got.

“I think the players should take all the praise because they’re the ones that have worked their socks off to get the three points and they realise how big they are.”

Re: Match Thread; Home v Bradford City

Right, I see. I'm getting fed up of all this moaning. I suppose the same "fans" were having a go at Miles when he was brutally catapulted into the snow drift by one of Bradford's heavies when challenging for the ball? People who say we were poor obviously weren't at Northampton. Every game in this division is a physical battle and Stanley won this one. If Bradford were poor it was because Stanley made them look poor. The way our front men came back at their huge centre halves after taking a battering all through the first half was admirable. All credit to Coley for motivating the team, and I don't blame him one little bit for reminding the moaners that it doesn't help the lads one little bit to give them stick during the game. By all means criticise them after the match, but for crying out loud lets celebrate a massive 3 points. The Ultra's support for the team has been worth a hatful of points this season. Just think what a difference it would make if the main stand would take a leaf out of their book.

Stanleymad 21-02-2010 11:41

Re: Match Thread; Home v Bradford City

I now take residence in main stand and THEY do sing and clap along to the ultras we are loving the new songs which i cant get out of my head atm! Just cos clayton end is louder doesnt mean we have no voice and dont get behind our team, we do all hail main standers!

I was at Northampton and ill have you know ive only missed 3 games all season home AND away.

I never said we where poor yesterday, I thought the whole team played a good game (with the exception of Miles for 70 mins ish,)

And yes whilst I agree it was a great 3 points yesterday and I have nothing but respect for what Coley & JB have done for us over the years, the manner in which Coley conducted himself yesterday was slighty over the top, in my opinion. (and nobody else's)

Only the fan's are the constant at a club at not the manager or players and If I feel somebody is having a poor game ill voice my opinion to do so.

That is a given right of a paying SEASON TICKET holder dont you think???

Oldgobbin 21-02-2010 11:42

Re: Match Thread; Home v Bradford City

I totally agree, Redraine. Mind you, I was interested to notice when leaving the ground that the former Cowshed Mafia now seem to be housed in the main stand. These guys, if you remember, were noted for giving loud verbal abuse towards their own players at every opportunity. Hard luck, Main Stand - our area is certainly more pleasant for their departure!

Well done the lads yesterday - and, though Miles is by no means one of my favourite players, well done Coley for sticking to his guns!

Re: Match Thread; Home v Bradford City

I don't understand why fans in the main stand get on the back of coley and moan at who he plays! E.g John Miles yesterday! Do you not think that coley knows best? Theres a reason why we are doing well this season! and alot of it is down to him! Yes you have payed your money and have the right to voice your opinion but Coley and Jimmy know best! Maybe that was their tactic to let miles just sit in and not do much and then once the Bradford players had ran out of steam a bit after coming out all guns blazing second half that Miles would have more time, space and energy to get more into the game and score a goal! But maybe instead of saying " SUB MILES, HES RUBBISH" maybe a bit of " JOHN MILES BARMY ARMY" would be more appropriate :).

Coley knows best, as its being shown this season!! :)

Not the best of games but a wins a win. Superb following by the Bradford fans, just a shame that they have a small majority of dingles that are absolute prats once they've had a drink.

On Stanley On.

They are right in the corner now next to the changing rooms, and I have no idea who they are, but they do go very over the top, not what many of the main stand want really, but oh well they pay their money not alot can be done.

Nobody gets on the back of Coley mate. Nobody could do what he has done for us. He is and forever will be a Stanley Legend.

Its just the fact that the team (in mine and alot of others opinions) has been carrying Miles and Mconville alot recent games. Especially when we have Turner warming the bench its very frustrating (especially when we lose)

Yeh agree with that, i would of liked turner given a good chance on field, trouble with sean and john is its not a 90 min consistancy. Was surprised that no subs was used to give the benchers a chance to prove themselves and take off tired legs.

Surely this is what matters, not Miles, McConville, Turner Etc. I am one of Turners biggest fans and am not overly impressed that McConville keeps playing before him, neither am I happy with Billy Kee spending time on the bench, BUT, I am not in charge and the chap who has been since 10 August 1999, is not doing too bad a job at the moment!!

Let's just enjoy the ride and get behind the 11 players on the pitch!!!

I talked to Coley

He just doesn't make many substitutions. Call it a weakness. Call it a characteristic.

Coley is good!

I never said it was you who thought we were poor. And, also as a paying season ticket holder, I actually don't think our so called "rights" extend to picking on individuals in the team on the pitch for abuse, which serves no useful purpose at all. Not that I don't scream and shout in frustration plenty.:D

Football is a game that if it did not spark debate, fury, bewilderment, frustration, happiness, excitement and joy well there wouldn't be much point going really and that's on the Monday after the game on Saturday;)

As a Club everybodies opions count no matter how small or how large, I have seen players kick walls, shout things at fans, fight amongst themselves. I have seen players pulled to bits in TV Interviews and heard it radio interviews, read the interviews 3197

Nobody is denying Coley has worked miracles and is seen in some quarters as the best thing ever but we all play a part in the Club just in our own individual ways, some are more vocal than others.

I admit I often shout out at Miles, but purely through frustration...because I know what he can do when he gets the ball.
He naturally drifts in and out of the game, and like saturday showed he can play 'poor' for 80 minutes then provide two moments of magic that give us the win. I like a player that shows 110% commitment that runs the full length of the pitch week in week out, the likes of Ryan and proccy fit the bill. But having players like Miles in the team adds that perfect balance to the team, more particularly the midfield, 'the engine'.
