Me too, but it's a fact of life that clubs like Grimsby will snatch players from under our noses because of a more attractive wage structure. Back in the bad old days, we would've probably offered Kenny money we couldn't afford to secure his services, but now we're living within our means this scenario may well become more familiar. As Cashy says, hopefully King Coley can work his magic!

Obviously they'll be better off than the vast majority of BSP teams, but they will still have had to downsize. The fact that we as a Football League club can't compete with Grimsby even after their scaled down budget really shows, to me anyway, how little we have to offer.

May get into a bit of debt to return to the football league.

I'd rather be a small football league club than a big conference club. It won't be easy for you to get back into the football league there are a lot of good teams in the conference. As for Kempson I think he has found his level in the conference. Kenny Arthur is a good keeper but in both his seasons with Stanley he had spells out injured and last season with Rochdale he also had a spell out injured. He is well thought of at Stanley but if he was that good a keeper do you think that Rochdale would have let him go free with a year left on his contract?

Yes. They were also stupid enough to be interested in Akpro, so anything is possible.

I am not too gutted about this one, yes good keeper but as most folk agree more imperative to keep on an even keel at this stage of our re-birth.

There have been some very good and sensible posts scattered throughout the forum over the last few weeks about the infrastructure of the Club, players we can attract and players we can't, what improvements can be made to the Ground and what can't.

For me it is pretty simple go right back to basics with everything including budgets make sure we can sustain what we have but also have a common sense approach about it, then look to expand the horizons as we grow but that is not too say we don't still need to come across as a Professional Football League Club it is not always about appearance and fancy speak.

This Club first & foremost is a Family Club and that is something to be proud and needs to be neutred, the next stage is to become a Community Club where it encompasses the whole of Hynburn as not only their football club and something they want to be part of but the hub of activity after 5pm on a Saturday for the whole community.:)

i have every faith in coley but in the last few years he has had a better budjet than this year to go alongside his rabbit pulling as well as some tried and trusted players like mullin cav, richardson, craney(twice) edwards who where mainstays of the team. its going to be hard to assemble fairly new team. 1 or 2 rabbits quite possibly 5 or 6 is pushing it. at this rate am just gonna enjoy what could be our last season in the league( and i hope i am totally wrong). new signings dont look like they are gonna catch the imagination. if coley does it this year then it will surely be his greatest achievement

Best post on the first page, couldn't be bothered to go to page 2. Who is to say Grimsby will get promotion straight back up. I think they, like Luton, Wrexham, York et al may struggle in the BSP. So these players want to play non-league football, so be it, no loss to Stanley, Coley and Jimmy have the passion and ambition to aim higher. Those who wanted to stay have re-signed. Those who had ideas above their station went to Bournemouth, some e.g. Bobby Grant at least waited until he was courted by a higher league club, but at least had the decency to say he would have signed for Stanley. I say no sad loss. Onwards and upwards with John and Jimmy

1 good thing about Grimsby is although we've been in decline over the past 10 years we've managed to get ourselves financially secure after the massive blow we took from ITV digital. Since then we've worked wonders off the pitch just not on it.. And for the wages, Fenty is giving it 1 season at the same rate of wage (a slight gamble maybe) if we don't go straight up then the budget will decrease.

I suppose if that happens then the money-grabbers like Kempson and Arthur will be in deep doo-doos. What a shame - I can feel my heart starting to bleed already!

Re: Kenny Arthur

Kempson and Arthur obviously went to grimsby to more money like anyone would, and players at stanley have not even been gettin paid on time now so who would want to join us? obviously not them... this is another effect of all the useless folk behind the scenes who do the day-to-day running, doesnt loook good to players who think about joining when they are being offered football league football yes but maybe not even a wage at the end of the month on time..
