dunno joe, but i was yon about 10-10 n was 11-15 ish when i got mine, n the queue when i left was twice as long as when i arrived.:)

I'd agree with that!

Rob Heys did say that money from cup runs would be made available to Coley so that should partly go to rewarding the existing players not just finding new ones. As far as I know no-one has a contract beyond the end of this season, so, as the Club can't gamble on two-year contracts, offer the players contracts with clauses related to games played ... if the player meets the minimum number of games played both the Club and the player have the option to extend the deal for another season. It offers more security for the players if they play well and it would avoid the Symes situation arising again; it would be difficult to watch Ray Putterill walk away on a free transfer at the end of January.

Was Davo there? Nobody introduced him to me. How did he manage that one, seeing as he isn't a ST holder?

Incidentally, I was very pleased to see that the club shop was shut. With a captive audience of ardent Stanley fans literally feet from the shop for about half an hour or more throughout the day, obviously the club shop being open would mean sales and that would mean money for the club...and we wouldn't want that, would we?

Club shop closed probably due to the only member of staff selling tickets.

Well, I'm very glad to hear that, Davo. If I hadn't been getting one for my mate from Chester, I would've quite happily got you one.

As for manning the club shop, I would've thought that one of the other hired hands - "the club administrator", "the commercial manager", "the club receptionist" might have done it.

Your right though, it was a missed opportunity, there must be a good number of fans like myself who only arrive 5 mnutes before a game and go straight into the ground and straight back home afterwards.
It would have been an ideal time to get the hardcore support in and around the store.

On the other hand, £20 a ticket for the carling cup may possibly be the most expensive admission fee of the 2nd round, so they may not care to much.

I have been told Reading are charging just £2 kids, £7 adults
Everton are charging £7 kids, £12 adults (less for season ticket holders)
West Ham are charging £5 kids, £10 adults

As for the admission prices, it's not the £20, it's the £15 concession price which proves how shortsighted the people who run the club are.

As so many others have said on here, it could've been great opportunity to recruit the young uns, but instead they've gone for short-term gain.

They pleaded for the people of Accrington and East Lancashire to come to their aid, when we were at death's door last year. That all seems to be forgotten now. £15 for a child to come on?...disgraceful. :(

I think the club has to leveridge as much 'doe -rae-me' from a game like this as possible. Nevermind selling tickets cheaply to kids, thats for the bread and butter league games. A chance like this (v Newcastle) comes round not often enough so ASFC MUST extract as much as possible. .. then again, I'm over here and not having to fork out as it were...

Sorry, John, but I disagree. Sod the ordinary league games, this is the perfect opportunity to pull in new recruits. Big match occasion, big match atmosphere, the ideal situation to start kids on a lifelong love affair with the Clayton End. I also think there's a debt of honour to be repaid here - the people of Accrington and district (apathetic sods though they may be) put their hands in their pockets when we were drinking in the last chance saloon. The club could've at least returned the compliment by being fair by charging £10 for kids (which isn't "selling tickets cheaply" anyway).

Fair enough Rhythum and Booze man...particularly like the bit about 'last chance saloon'..appeals to me that does.. :)
..But shouldn't the kids be at home getting shut eyes for school next day ?:D If you had mentioned 10 pounds in the earlier post for the kids instead of the 15 pound fee, I might not have posted.
