However....I dare say the local plod may have a say in whether or not this goes ahead at the Crown.:(

It goes without saying it's all ticket and I think we could probably sell the ground out two or three times over, such will be the demand,however.... what would the cost of policing this at our stadium be??? :confused:If that is indeed a pheasable operation to police, knowing that the geordies travel in large numbers.

I've got a feeling that this one will end up switched to a neutral venue !:o

I don't think venue switching is allowed these days, unless it's exceptional like a non league team drawing the big boys. A football league club would be expected to handle a game of this nature.

Your team were able to host Fulham without a hitch. I think the point of these sorts of cups are that sometimes you play at big grounds, and sometimes you play at the smallest in the football league. As a Geordie I can't wait and I'd rather it was played at Crown Ground, a chance to tick off another stadium!

Fair point, however they had further to travel; are probably nowhere near as well supported as your guys are supported away from home and the demand for home tickets, not just from Accy fans but neutrals who might want to take in the game, will make that Fulham game look like a tea party to organise logistically !!!

I'd hope that the Commercial department are also about to go into overdrive thinking about marketing memorabilia (scarves, flags, etc) :o

With the potential money this can make the club, with the possibility of T.V. revenue added, this sort of money change the season. I really hope that the club holds true to their word and let's Coley have a chance to splash a little cash.

Have any of you lot got msn? PM me if you want my addy. I'm absolutely ecstatic with this, I've got this feeling inside me, I really cant describe it. This has got to be one of the best ties we've had in a while, not because it's against Accrington, but on the day it's going to be absolutely amazing. A sell out at the crown ground in-front of the TV cameras (hopefully. A cracking atmosphere, a bit of friendly banter and it's also a team I very much doubt we've played, and this will be another ground to tick off the list, you don't get many chances to go to Accrington, especially if you're a Newcastle fan.

"Accrington Stanley? Who are they!" Mayvbe that famous quote could be re-written to..... The team that beat Newcastle United, you never know, it just could be a memorable night for your lot.

Was up at the ground today and almost everybody was saying Newcastle in next round but up in north east, but avin em down the crown suits me down to the ground fantastic draw for the club and if sky televise it there should be plenty of ££££££££££ in it plus a chance for the ultras to put on a show.

How many like minded Newcastle fans will want to "tick the Crown off their list" or enjoy a good old nostalgic trip down here ??? With the ground at present capacity, policing, segregation I think that Newcastle will get 1500 tickets...at most !!!

I'd bet there were only 3 dozen coppers on duty for that Fulham game... The police presence for this sort of game will dwarf that. And so would the logistical costs !!!:(

I don't see why the police would turn out in massive numbers to be honest. We're not as bad as people make out, and we definitely wouldn't cause bother at Accrington. We don't cause bother at most places, it's just the odd few idiots who have to spoil them selves.

Fulham games Attendance was 3712...... fulham had an allocation of 1200 tickets of which 400 were sold and 800 returned as reported at the time. with the crown grounds current capacity being 4,500 i would would think that newcastle will be given the same amount ie 1200 t 1300 tickets as the away end hold 1000 standing and between 200 /300 seats in the whinney hill stand. a temp stand might be an oppsion as a one off for this game:)

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!

Your all missing one vital point on the subject of when the game will be played, Blackburn are also at home in round 2 and local plod will not cope with 2 matches on the same night so expect one to move. As perhaps, our tie is a little bit more high profile and possibly on Sky, then they will be the ones who dictate when it should be played with Blackburn moving there game to accommodate. Anyhow, whatever happens, it will be a great match for Stanley and all connected with the club. One game I am really looking forward to and under no circumstances will I miss this one.

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!

will sponsors of players be able to get tickets?

carpon 11-08-2010 23:40

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!

Well IF it is played at the Crown, I'd hope that after Season Ticket holders, who should incidentally be, in MY opinion restricted to 2 tickets per Season Ticket, Other fans who can produce stubs from either the Aldershot game or a ticket from the Donny game should get second option before open sale.:o

If the club are clever about this, they could make the Macc game a very decent gate by stating anyone who wants a ticket from the general sale (of what will be a very limited supply of tickets) wanting to buy a Newcastle ticket would have to produce a stub for the Macc game on collection of the Newcastle ticket, and possibly knocking off a couple of quid for the Macc game ????

I know about half a dozen neutrals, if not more, who will want tickets for this game along with a few local geordie fans who don't get up to Newcastle much for home games, but will want to watch this one !!!

I didn't get a season ticket due to the fact that I miss quite a few midweek games due to work and financial constraints (i.e. not being financially practical and it was a large lump to stump up in one hit)

That said I go to 80-85% of home games and travel away, where reasonably practical.:o

So when it comes to selling tickets for what is likely to be as sought after an event as finding rocking horse do-da's or the goose that laid the golden egg, I hope some common sense prevails.

who do you sponsor fella and also due to our location we can't have a season ticket as we can't commit to every game however we always sponsor 2 players and subscribe to the legends @ £20 a month for no intrinsic gain and that adds up to a few quid a season on top of our attendance, programmes, beers and and all other associated costs. just wished we lived closer so we could be there for every home game!!!!!!!!!!

A real chance for the Club & Fans to give a great account of themselves on & off the pitch & show the whole nation why this Club is so special to us all

It is definately a dream tie for us and is a win win in every sense from the commercial side, media spotlight, giantkilling aspect, bumper pay day, the sense of excitement and positivity of fans and it must be the stuff of dreams for the management & players with a chance to pit your wits against a Premiership Side.

It's going to be a magical night regardless of the result:alright:

Good Luck to the Club staff in getting everything sorted as I think there will be one or two late nights.

On Stanley On

Lancashire police can over-police any football match, including reserve matches.

Tickets and prices will be announced on Friday 13/8/10 according to the fishy site .

Morning good people of Accrington! Good chance we'll bring a good few thousand down given the chance and circumstances. We love a bit of romance and novelty up here. Hoping for a ticket but hopefully it'll be on Sky and will be one to remember.

The morning after the night before, the headline reads...

"Newcastle United?!?! Who are they?..."

Stranger things have happened. Get on here for a bit of banter if you get chance - Viewing a thread - They are delighted

My first thought when Newcastle came out of the hat was what a great draw for Stanley, pity it ain't at St James as there would probably have been a 35,000+ gate and would have made Stanley a fortune

and...Do Newcastle United Fans play with their Vulvazulus ?.
They should be forewarned that this practice has been frowned upon by many a Stanley stalwart posting on our Forum !..

I think I stuck this on somewhere else. My understanding is we get 45% of the gate money, N'castle get the same and 10% and goes into a common pool. However, that is after visiting club expenses - travel, hotel, etc has been deducted and in the Geordies case - with all their entourage - that sum will not be insignificant. I don't know what the split on any TV money will be, though.

I'm not totally sure Tealeaf but I think the home side get the lions share

Looking at Sky sports, they have 2 slots for games to be televised in round 2, Wednesday or Thursday (25th or 26th). Hopefully, we may just get one of them!!

As for tickets, what about the shareholders, shouldn't they get first dibs?? Only joking!!

It would appear that because Newcastle are playing Villa on the previous sunday, they may be angling for a wednesday night game, rather than tuesday.

I think all those that travelled + bought a ticket to the doncaster game should have priority for the newcastle game.

Lol! No we do not. We've banned Vuvuzela's thankfully. I wrote in to the club about banning then, two days later they did.

It's no atmosphere whatsoever, totally kills the whole thing. We wont be bringing a plastic horn to make noise.
