Trusts
I live in Stockport and have a close friend who was a member of the Board of the Trust.
Stockport County were as close as Stanley to going out of business. It was generally recognised that to survive the Trust needed three things; strong financial management systems and cashflow,a clear direction and strong positive leadership. Stockport Trust had none of those did not appear to have adequate funds at their disposal. |
Re: Trusts
Strong financial management? We'll see but gettin the accounts sorted was a big statement of intent IMHO.
A clear direction? It certainly seems so from the other thread. Strong positive leadership? Think Ilyas ticks that box. I realise that they're still non league, but AFC Wimbledon are the one club I can think of who have made this system work, so it may be worth someone at te club picking up the phone. Unless, of course, fluent Spanish is another one of Ilyas' skills? If community/fan ownership is good enough for Barcelona... And I'm sure Cashman would rather have McConville than Messi... |

Re: Trusts
The one Club within all the Football League that has really grasped the trust status is Exeter City Exeter City FC Supporters' Trust - ECFC Supporters' Trust
I am not sure what will differ for Accy but it sure males for exciting times:alright: |
Re: Trusts
Article in last Sunday's Observer (I mean the other Obbie) on this subject, based on experience of Lewes FC. Claimed someone from FC United gave them an inspiring talk about setting up a trust club. Might be an idea to get him to address the up-coming meeting, if he's available?
