Coleys Magic.

is it just me? seems to me coley gets the best out of players consistently, most of those that move on, cos the grass is greener, don't seem to cut it when they move, must be magic.:)

I'm sure you're right Cashy, and most of them seem glad to come back here. I was just reading what Ian Craney said about coming back to the Stanley.

To a degree I think your right Cashy, probably most important things are people want to play for Coley and there does seem good rapport and camaraderie between the players.

Must admit I have been around football for a long time and i still cant work this one out.
How do you get players to come to Acci for less money than semi pro teams, play on a pitch which is poor to put it mildly, train on pitches more akin to walking your dog on, and pay for the priviledge to train indoors !!!.
All the players love it,so the only viable explanation is mr Coleman and mr Bell practice Voodoo or something

Your forgetting the support football19. If i remember right sean hessey said the vocal support from accy fans was one of the reasons he signed.

Re: Coleys Magic.

Is that the vocal support or the voodoo chanting !!!!

yep i'd heard that bernard, i was thinking more about recent departures,re- Arthur,Grant, Symes, most i know wished em well, but were very sad they left n feared fer this season, none of those lads seem to have set the world alight at there new clubs, n in my opinion stanley are a stronger side this season. i wonder how a top manager would cope, losing 3 of his top players? maybe theres a lesson there fer some of our lads?:)

He's a hell of a good manager Cashy. And we want to keep him here.

All Hail King Coley!

If you could work out some sort of formula that matched success achieved against budget available, I reckon Coley would be far and away the best manager in the league. Him and Jimmy consistently perform miracles every season. Long may it continue! :)

What do you expect ? He's a loveable Scouse rouge & I think that the name "Accrington Stanley" may also have something to do with it. How many kids grew up with it ringing in their ears due to the MMB's classic advert, it has an aura of legend, myth & romanticism about it, which hark back to many young Lads dreams & wishes of starting with the minnows to go on to bigger things. :)

Well that's my take on it anyway.

Yeah, I think there’s summat in that, Dave. Years ago, back in Stanley’s non-league days, I worked with a guy who knew a few semi-pro players from around the North West. He said that they regarded Stanley as a desirable club to play for because it was such a well-known name; telling people you played for Hyde United, Drolysden or Chorley didn’t elicit much reaction, but if you said you played for Accrington Stanley, there was immediate recognition and interest. Reckon similar applies, even in league 2. After all, playing for Barnet, Cheltenham or Stevenage (no offence intended to those clubs – at least not to the first two. ;) ) doesn’t really have the same charisma as playing for the legendary Accrington Stanley.

Same reason that you adopted us as your second club! :)
