I'm with you tonight, Pete's working so I have Emily who as luck would have it is already in bed!!! Just hope Murphy has a good game, it sounds more like a 4-4-2 than our usual 4-5-1(4-3-3). Come on red men!!!

Re: Morecambe thread

I really don't think that the game should have been played. When in the Football League, teams shouldn't have to play AROUND an area of the pitch. Unbelievable.

As for the football itself, we were embarrassing and didn't deserve our point. Only Ray Putterill showed any spark or forward thinking.

Peter Murphy... why?

I can't put how crap that game was into words, so I'll end on the more comforting note that however bad we play, Morecambe will never beat the Stanley.

Now... who wants to go to Stevenage?!

Urgh.

Re: Morecambe thread

A very disjointed performance from the Reds

Back four seemed to be all at sea for big chunks of the second half in particular and no doubt Bavs kept us in it with a string of fine saves.

Very lightweight through the middle and up top, there was some nice build up play in parts but we seemed to see a return to the long punt up the park and then back at us which also reduced a lot of Stanley efforts to come from distance.

A draw was probably a get out of jail on the night is about the best I can summon

new red 01-02-2011 21:26

Re: Morecambe thread

Poor gate and an even poorer performance. Cant understand why Murphy played either when there are better players IMO that can't for some unknown reason make the Bench. No inspiration for play offs in this shoddy poor performance. Blooming disappointed tonight and we were lucky to walk away with a point. This performance wont entice more support. Again no pride or passion when there should be competition for places.

Would like to see Bateson get another chance in the starting eleven as thought he had a good start to the season. Personally think he created chances and showed promise. Still frustrated at tonights charade time to sign out.

Your not alone in that view. Not sure what's happened there but it's not doing Stanley any favours. Probably doesn't have a scouse acsent!! I expect to see him go out on loan in the next week or so, which is a shame because he should be playing for Accy.

Re: Morecambe thread

first 10 mins they looked pretty good, then deteriorated into dis-jointed crap, 25 mins from time putterill on fer the useless boulding, then n only then did stanley look real dangerous, not a good show, but could have nicked it at the end, agree bavs made a few good saves, if he could learn to kick the ball, would improve a bit more.

Redraine 01-02-2011 22:38

Re: Morecambe thread

Pitch is a cabbage patch. No way will we get anywhere near the play-offs having to plough our way through that. After any heavy rain it will just get worse.:(
Bavs MOM for me, in spite of his kicking.

david1 01-02-2011 22:52

Re: Morecambe thread

Bavs did some great saves today , But it does get embarrassing when , he kicks the ball and it goes over the top of the stand .

smudgie 02-02-2011 07:34

Re: Morecambe thread

Agree with most of the above , a draw was probably a fair result. The pitch was the winner, its an absolute bog, again! Though both keepers had good games. Agreed boulding had a poor game, but he isn't a left winger so no surprise for me. Razor had a superb impact and must start at stevenage on Saturday. Thought murphy was better than previous games but how keeps leam and bateson out the team is beyond me. As for the off the field incident in the clayton end, both the stewards and some of the si called stanley supporters need to take a look at thereselves, absolute disgrace.

what off the field incident smudge?:confused:

football19 02-02-2011 10:21

Re: Morecambe thread

To be fair i thought morecambe worked very hard and didnt allow stanley to settle on the ball and with playing 2 up front and 2 wide men caused Acci a lot of problems.
The pitch didnt help and only when we got some width (putterill) and an extra forward(linfield) did our tempo increase.
Had enough good chances to win the game, but morecambe would say the same!, I thought a draw was a fair result.

new red 02-02-2011 13:06

Re: Morecambe thread

Murphy had a great chance to win it late on but totally fluffed it. Although with how bad we played it would have been daylight robbery should he have put it away. Dont feel he is ready for league 2 and like whats been said there are far more experienced players in the squad. Gotta question decision to give him another start after his previous performances. Mom Bavs - kept them in it but didnt like long balls hoofed up the pitch.

And I didnt see an incident either!

From whwer I was sat I could see something was happeneing at the Clayton end but don't know what, but I do know it was more exciting off the pitch than on. To say £70,000 was spent on improving the pitch is money wasted.

As I always prefer to keep my eyes on the game when all around is mayhem in the Clayton end, I understand from my mate that a lad was being "crowd surfed" and divested of several items of clothing. I took my eyes off the game for a second and saw his two bare feet above the mob's heads. Apparently his hat ended up on the pitch and was scooped up by a marshall who confiscated it. Cue an instant exodus of half the Ultras in the direction of the said marshall, after which I haven't a clue what happened. It all was extremely distracting and the cut the Clayton end noise down by about 75% for about 20 minutes. Barmy!:(

Well thats what I understand to have been spent on the pitch £70,000 . If anyone knows any different please say.

Re: Morecambe thread

I am know pitch expert and to a degree I understand it can be hinderance to Stanley's passing game but it is the same for both sides.

Morecambe did work hard and closed down very well and to be fair they also had at least one decent claim for a penalty.

Stanley had a few personnel changes and whether that unsettled their normal flowing movement on the night I am not sure?

The two men up top always worked with one dropping off but still having the awareness of where the other was.

Re: Morecambe thread

Google Page Ranking your right as there forwards worked as a pair, but i liked the way they defended from the front by both going wide and working hard to stop Acci playing from the back.
Notice how many times Hessey was forced to go long by being put under pressure,
Thought Gornell had another good game against Charnock, who looks a half decent player and built like a brick s--thouse !!
