positive thread

I'm gutted about last nights result and the referee was poor but this is going to be a positive thread so here it goes:

Last night the fans did themselves proud. The whole of the UK was watching and although the players didn't perform as well as we know they can the fans were absolutely fantastic. The displays and atmosphere throughout was amazing and I pointed out to my fellow Grimsby lot how little stewards you have around the ground that must help alot. I for one WILL be coming back to the Crown next year on several occasions, now I have my own Stanley shirt (which i'll be wearing every friday night at football) and still have my scarves I feel more connected to Stanley then ever before. Sadly I work Saturdays until 2pm so I wont be able to make it to Saturday games but for every midweek game I'll be there cheering on the boys!
The Clayton End was fantastic last night and to stay behind after the whistle and keep singing and showing your support was amazing, I couldn't leave the ground for ages I was to attached and now I'm paying the cost my chest is killing me :p Thanks to everyone who's made me and others feel welcome throughout the season(s) I will be wearing my shirt with pride around Grimsby over the coming months and roll on next season! :alright:

ps Thanks once again to Mr T and the clubshop 'big boss man' for your kind gestures and help with tickets

I think you have raised a very valid point in that the fans were motivational both at Stevenage & last night as they have been all season.

Maybe difficult when you are behind the display to gauge how it looked to the rest of the ground and the viewing public.

The one constant with Stanley through thick & thin is the fans and atmosphere which is driven and created by the Ultras which is both passionate and motivational.

Old Trafford and the Play-Off Final will be a much duller place without them:(

Re: positive thread

Everyone who reads the posts will know I was worried about folk leaving, and with ten minutes to go there were a few groups leaving the Coppice and Clayton ends,

BUT

There was a lot more than the usual 2,000 left at the end, and I felt VERY proud when the lads came back to the Clayton End. They MUST have been absolutely gutted, as were we all, but they should also be VERY PROUD of themselves for the the season, and getting into the play-offs.

Well done everyone in Accrington who turned up, and stayed to the very end, and well done the Team...

and Thank You

Cracking post, Luke. Sitting here the morning after, feeling pretty deflated and empty with a shredded throat. However, your post and the others here have really snapped me out of it and reminded me of all the great things about Stanley that I was in danger of taking for granted. Cheers, karma sent, and roll on next season! :D

Still on a lighter note that made me smile this morning.

We put a flag up outside the shop yesterday. When I got here this morning the flag had been taken down, rolled up neatly and posted through the letterbox as if it was some sort of closing ceremony duty :D

awesome last night. Just been watching the game again and I think that Sky turned the noise down! In the first couple of minutes we started "we love you" and within a couple of seconds there was a noticeable difference in the levels. Chickens! It was still loud and proud for the entire duration though.

The best bits for me? listening to Westley crowing afterwards and all you could hear was the Stanley fans in the background, not a hint of Borough noise anywhere.

Re: positive thread

It was never about winning the play-offs. It was only about proving everybody wrong. We did that.

Everyone thought that dirty little Accy were a hoofball playing pub team. We passed every single team in this league off the pitch at some point this season.

Everyone had us as favourites for relegation. We reached the play-offs with no money whatsoever; finishing well above clubs with resources far greater than ours.

I have never been as in love with Accrington Stanley Football Club as I am right now. Last night's post-match-ness serves as a memory that I shall never, ever forget as long as I live.

May we forever be superstar underdogs.

On, Stanley, On.

Fantastic display from the fans last night, that's the best advert Stanley could have. Well done to all those involved with creating and fitting the banners too, you make the Crown what it is.

In my humble opinion our fans are amongst the best in the country and I hope some of the folk who don't usually come on a Saturday aft will be encouraged by last nights display to attend matches next season.

Agreed crackin display looked ace from other end at start when i was waving another of the big wavys, the work on the flags definatly paid off.

Like to see how many stevenage take to OT, they only brought 200odd last night and we took 400odd down there, they dont travel in good numbers at all

Unrelenting support and the only negativity was reserved for the referee, who quite rightly sent off an Accy player for a terrible looking tackle (didnt see what led to the 2nd red) but gave every other 50-50 decision Stevenage's way. Also gave a corner when the ball went out at least 10 yards up the pitch!
Expect the Stevanage fans to start invading the Rochdale forum telling them they are blind, the referee got everything spot on and Rochdale fans are clearly biased towards Northern teams :D

I too thought that a real snub, BBC usually show the display.

A fat snare drummer from the South in a replica shirt v 300m of red & white co-ordinated in a show of colour & passion

Bizarre, & we pay these directors!!!!

When we started Stanley Ultras in 2004, we always hoped that we would attract folk to the club/group/terrace. We have with the young lads of Accy (went past a playground with some kids playing football, they shouted Edwards when they shot ..... and Cisak when they made a save :)....)

But it seems we are now converting other teams fans ..... Barnet recently & now Grimsby.....

Proper Bo!
