Re: Another Ex red at Fleetwood

At least he didn't bet AGAINST his own club, as the rest of them did, so why should he be the ONE player who can never be forgiven?

Re: Another Ex red at Fleetwood

another one who has chosen money over ambition. There was a strong rumour that Luton were after him and had made an offer. Luton (who will surely get back into the FL soon and stay there) or Fleetwood and an extra handful of silver (who may never get there)

Maybe he prefers the air in Fleetwood to that in Luton. It has a certain aroma to it, after all. Fishy.;)

Never been a favourite of mine, but how can you post this.

Most of the Stanley players have a Concrete OFFER but there is not a lot of them signing

Re: Another Ex red at Fleetwood

If as you ( Jeff) say there are offers on the table they should have been made with a time limit on them. Once again 1,00's of players are out of work some experienced and sadly some kids who will never make it.
Last year the regular full back from Bury took his time, but the budget was spent and he was left without a club for a while. We need our better players to sign the others we can replace.

.

quite easily. Obviously we dont know whether the offer was actually made, and what the details were, but if it was made then you'd think that they were the better option.

But if, as you infer, we can't make any quotes based on assumption or strong rumour, or opinion, then we'd better wrap this forum up now.

Rob I thought that the money over ambition was a slur on the lads character, and to do this based on rumour is unfair. I feel sure that if the rumour is correct, several factors needed to be taken into account as a move to the south is a big upheaval. This plus Fleetwood would appear to be pushing the boat out again with several new signings already in the bag. Now mention his gambling habits along with a few others and that is fact.

Re: Another Ex red at Fleetwood

well to be honest I was slurring his character (not that it needed it) as it would seem that he has chosen the money at Fleetwood, like others have done (Miles, Cav, Anthony Barry who all had offers of staying in the League).

Like you say, nobody knows whether the offer from Luton was concrete, or if anything else was on the table, but a move to the south wouldn't have fazed him after he moved to Forest Green to resurrect his career. He is a young lad who has had a couple of very good seasons in the Conference and most people would have expected him to advance his career with a move upwards.

Should the bubble burst at Fleetwood and Sheik Mohammed El Codhead pulls his money out of the club then there will be tears before bedtime from a lot of the players who have chosen money over ambition. Fleetwood put a hell of a lot into the squad last year and ended falling way short and only just scraped into the play offs in the end, money doesn't buy success at that level and there are too many ego's trying to be satisfied. I'm expecting more of the same from them next season.

To go back a bit and re-mention Mangans character, I personally would be prepared to forgive and forget with that particular individual as he was a (very) young lad, didn't bet against his own side, and has done more than serve his time. He offered his services to the FA as an advisor of some sort, going around the academies and warning against the various pitfalls that are on offer to professional footballers. Lesson learnt for him and I wish him a successful career ahead.

Talking of ex-reds, rumour in deepest Yorkshire has it that Norwich are after Snodgrass from Leeds. If this deal should go ahead Gary Roberts will be moving from Huddersfield to Leeds.
