Rotherham United Match Thread.............
For those that cant make it.
Same team as the Gillingham game..................??? |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Just finishing off at work. I am making the short journey from work to the Don Valley. Looking forward to my first away game of the season :D
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
same team ? dunno Smudgie, but with the squad we have this season can't say that I'm bothered who lines up. Would be good if 'topgun' Smith can notch a few more tonight tho.
With Cookie up in the stands (hope he's taking his binoc's) and Leam's 100% at stake (lol), I reckon Rotherham are going to get a serious game. |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Evening all :) Man in he Middle - for tonights game:)
Nigel Miller from County Durham. In 28 games this season, Miller has shown 69 yellow cards and 2 reds. Running the lines will be Mr. R. Joyce (Cleveland) and Mr. O. Yates (Staffordshire). The Fourth Official is Mr. P. Graham (Manchester) |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Only weak spot is Toto. I don't really rate him at all. Perhaps he's not quite used to the rough and tumble of League football yet. Certainly will feel better when Hessey reappears!! :)
Peter Murphy late birthday present screamer would be nice. :) Hopefully Cookies honeymoon period starts now!! On Stanley On!! :) |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............

Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Come on the reds!!!
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Murphy????? Barnett and Lindfield on the bench, still cannot understand it.................
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
To be fair Murph had a great game against the Gills.
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
 Thought Aristote Nsiala was on a months initial lone deal  must have signed him up for another month :)
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Smudgie, he had a brilliant game against Gills - no mistake, but................ Charlie, is 5 times the player and Craig is one of our most improved players!!
Away from home though, so it might just be passable. let's hope that I am eating my words at F.T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Craig is coming back from Injury remember :)
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
You play well you keep the shirt. Simples. :) The best individuals don't necessarily make the best team. As anybody whose ever watched England in a world cup will testify ;).
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
come on the whites lets stuff 'em. Played well at the Stade de Emptee the last two times and not got what we deserved.
'Ave it |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
who's that Guthrie fella on the bench
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
I know Macca, he just seems to have dropped off the radar :(
Just needs some confidence the lad. |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Feel sorry for BKG (Big Kurt Guthrie). Will be a half decent player but doubt well give him that second season he needs. If only his wrongly disallowed goal on opening day had been allowed, or his screamer against Plymouth hadn't rattled the woodwork, he would have been flying. But as it stands he's so short on confidence its unreal.
Is the stage set for a Guthrie overhead kick in the last minute to snatch a win for the men in white? ;) |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............

Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............

|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Charlie on, Murph to R.B.....

We lose one-nil....and the Hell Hole jinx strikes again Alvin !! |
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Leam out ...
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
Leam has averaged 1.5 points a game. Quite a hard act to follow if you ask me ;)
|
Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
funnily enough that's exactleee the same as Coley and Eric Whalley! (rounded to one decimal figure rather than two)

Re: Rotherham United Match Thread.............
I can honestly say Don valley is the worst ground in the league in terms of weather/atmosphere/playing surface and viewing.
I have never enjoyed going there, and last night didnt dissappoint. Its like watching a cross between a reserve match and training and will be glad I dont have to go again !!!. Onto the match,we set up 4-3-3 and them 4-4-2,they had the wind in the first half and us in the second. The way they play,ie two banks of four, and two up top really set the tone of the game.there fullbacks never tried to get forward and our front three were just ineffective with no space to operate in,indeed there centre backs were very good (mullins got m o m ). A total of 6 shots on target between both teams tells its own story, but to be honest I cant even recall 6!!!. For long periods of the game we controlled the tempo of the game with some neat football, but as soon as we attempted to get in the final third we surrendered possession. I think Bav had one save to make, but there was a blatant foul in the build up to that. On the positive side, the balti pies were nice!!, but its credit to acci that teams are now being set up to stop us playing. No real stand out performances, although i thought Toto/joycy and murph did ok,dont forget these lads stopped Southend playing/scoring at there place ,so it was going to be difficult,if they decided to keep it tight (which they did),and our younger lads will learn from it |
