Ian Craney - Gone

Paid up and gone I hear, great player for us over his 3 spells at the club, shame that injuries and fitness have caught up with him this year.

Thanks Ian, all the best for the future.

Why would you pay someone up when theres only 2 games left to play and contracts are up in may  Like Dave said this was doing the rds last night at the cup game;)

Don't they get paid until the end of June, with a potential for payment until July if they don't get fixed up ? Fairly sure I've heard something similar to that.

I am sure all will become clearer in the next few weeks

Talking of which I heard an interesting rumour coming out of LFC;)

Not being specific to this player but I would imagine you can get a scenario where a players contract is ending, either the player has made it clear he is not going to re-sign or the manager has made it clear he isn't going to be offered a new contract, the club and player could then reach a settlement figure for leaving early which suits both parties. Saves the club money and lets the player sort out what he wants to do

Not sure Carroll on loan for a season will really help him get his touch back :D

i guess that Craney's Column in th'Observer (in about an hour and a half) will shed some light on what, if anything, has gone on.

Whilst I appreciate that we haven't seen the best of him this season he has still been a terrific servant of the club and I'd be sad to see him leave. He's not one I'd automatically pick, and he's not one that I'd automaticaly pay a lot on wages to ... but he is an infectious character and a big part of the great atmosphere that our dressing room seems to emit. He also has the ability to create openings in play and has more than played his part in our rise to an established League 2 club.

On the back page of the Observer, Cook is quoted as saying that the club is looking at situations with certain players, with Craney being one. The gaffer admits that a club like ours needs the better paid players to be playing most games, though stops short of criticising Ian as a player. Apparently we're looking at what kind of deal we can give him.

Pay as you play, same for Hess and Hughesy!!!

Great players, great for the young players, but we cannot afford to pay players to be on the table!!!

Hess, Coid, Craney, Leam..........

I heard at the game last week that £500K is the playing budget, if that is true, we must have players on the pitch!!

We shall wait and see :) :) :)
