Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Well im looking forward to this tomorrow, especially the awards night after.

I hope Cooky goes with his strongest side, which im sure he will do.

Come on the reds!!!!!!!

:):)

What is your strongest IX/formation Smudgie???? :)

smudgie 04-05-2012 08:47

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Tough one mate, I have missed the last two games because of work but personally I would go with this tomorrow......

...........................Bavs
.........Joyce......Toto........Murphy.......Mcint yre
.......................Barnett.....Hughes
.........Lindfield.........Hatfield...........Devi tt
........................Podge....................

Bench
Nicholls
Hopper
Carver
Liddle
Evans

For me personally Joyce's form has dipped abit the last few months of the season, he has played Right Back before and done a decent job, Craig is a far better attacking Wide Right.Though by the sounds of it, Cooky likes Craig as a Right Wing Back, which is probably what we will see again tomorrow.

As for the rest, I guess they pick themselves at the moment.

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Bavo

Craig Murphy Toto Macca

Charlie Hughesy

Liddle

Dev Evans

Podge

Hopper/Carver/Joyce/Nicholls/Stockdale.

With the injuries, plus the - alleged - departures, that would be it for me :) :)

First penalty of the season and a first goal for Toto!!!!!!!

Will be completely wrong on all counts of course...............

:) :) :)

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Agree about Luke, hence the place on the bench. Thought that Will was still injured, or I would have played him!!!

Home game before last, Liddle played in the Proccy role - box to box and breaking up play, that is his best position for me! All about opinions and Cookys counts :D :D

Although we got beaten today I enjoyed a proper game of football, compared with this awful cup final on telly. Rubbish.

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Same old story really. We made enough chances to lead by a good two goals in the first half, missed all our chances, then rued our profligacy in the second half as Crawley felt their way into the game and got a goal.

It's difficult to take as Crawley were nothing special; indeed they were half the team Shrewsbury were a couple of weeks ago. Akinde was a handful but Toto defended admirably. Lots of long-balling from both teams and the worst referee in the Football League, Mr Deadman, made for a difficult watch. Perhaps our lads switched off due to the formality of proceedings. That's what mid-table mediocrity can do.

Looking forward to this summer and seeing the team rebuild.

Agree about the missed chances shaker, but i take great heart from the fact,In the last 2 home games,we have played 2 of the promoted sides n neither has outplayed us. Roll on next season.;)

Really wanted the 3 points today for Cookie and the lads but every cloud has a silver lining and we have got rid of the creepy crawley,s for one season at least.
On a positive note thought we played some good stuff today against some big lads, young Marcus Carver seems like he has a great future ahead of him and was unlucky not to bag a couple.

Please, Cooky, find us a big, strong centre forward who can put the ball in the onion bag.

Got to agree about the comment on the referee. The worst I have ever seen at the Crown. Decisions given as fouls against Crawley, yet when they did similar things, nothing. When Toto was booked, the lad dived better than any swallow diver. I actually feared for Stanley in that I expected one of our players to get red carded, such was the play acting on Crawleys part. Good Luck to them in League one where I think they may get found out. i am now looking forward to Cookie and Leam forming a new team for next season, where I think we can be amongst the front runners, i am that confident.

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Well I think 3-3 would have been a fair reflection of the game.

As others have said, missed chances have cost us dearly.

Agreed ref was pretty poor, but well done to Crawley, decent set of fans, despite their reputation.

MOM Toto for me, a rock!! Young Carver also had a good opening 45 mins, got into some great positions.

Most positive aspect of the day for me was confirmation from Hughes & Mcintyre they are signing deals next week :)

Looking forward to Cooky rebuilding the side.

In his post match interview on Radio Sheffield for Rotherham Steve Evans made special mention that Crawley had been promoted at Accrington.

Re: Crawley Town Match Thread..........

Back to the game !!!!,thought in the first half Crawley were the worst sides I have seen at acci and we should have been out of sight. You have to give them a bit of credit in the second half as they reorganised, put an extra man in centre mid and started to control the game by isolating podge.
We stayed with width, were maybe someone should of tucked in and go 3 v 3.
This seems to be cookys style,ie we will score more than them, but at present we don't !!!
Lots of positives tho,and young carver didn't look out of placed, very very impressed with him, could have bagged a couple, but he got into the right areas

I was very confused at both teams wearing red and white. Enjoyed the match very much .Good luck to Cooky and Liam for next season , when I feel sure they will lead us into higher positions.

That's what the Mrs said yesterday when she saw the Crawley goal on telly.:idunno:

Even more confusing, both sets of supporters chanting come on you reds.

Crawley supporter here in peace.
Blimey, you made that tough for us - especially that first half. I was happy to go in level - though we nearly nicked a goal just before half time. Not so sure about playacting. We do have one player who makes a meal of it sometimes but the rest are pretty sound.
Your wing play looks very effective and I'm surprised you weren't challenging for promotion yourselves if you normally play like that.
Thanks for a warm welcome. I was chatting with some of your supporters before the game and we had a good laugh.
I'm just glad that Torquay and Southend supporters can't accuse you of rolling over. Although a 7-0 win would have been a lot easier on the nerves, it's better to achieve things by effort.
Thanks for a pleasant away day (and not just because we won either).
I think we will struggle in league one.

Happens to many; look at Chesterfield compared to the side that went up last season .........

Enjoy your time in the sun and remember those of us who still aspire .... :D If we get a 20 goal a season striker, watch us go .............:p

I confess! I was slightly under the influence of alcohol yesterday, so when i got in the ground i thought all those on the Coppice End were our lot, and the ones in the cowshed were the only Crawley fans in the ground. I thought the away end was open to Stanley fan yesterday, so i presumed they were our fans. It took a while but when they started screaming for a Crawley penalty the penny dropped!:dork:
