What do we need?
 

What do the club need to do to go forward? We started this season in good form but recently that good form has withered a little so what do you think Accrington Stanley need to do to get back ihn reach with promotion?

The defence in recent games has been nothing short of diabolical and this needs to be focused on in trainign by Coley and the Lads. I'm sure iots just a coincidense but ever since mike Flynn's arrival at the club we haven't been able to defend.

So what do you think John Coleman needs to do if the Reds are going to get promoted this term?

Start defending better for a start as when you look at conceding four at scarborough yesterday, 3 against tamwork, 3 against gravesend, 2 at farnborough, 3 at northwich is not good enough for a side which wants promotion. Another thing is perhaps start taking more of our chanches, but if we defensd better we are going to start picking up more points. However if we do go up i feel it is going to be through the play offs coming in 4/5 because i have not seen enough to convience me that stanley are title contendors.


I know i am going to get slated for this but perhaps a new manager (i know cjohn/jimmy have got use were we are today but could it have gone a bit stale as he has been there six years) But the question is who do you get in.

stanley couldn't afford his wages, but it would be a good appoint i suppose in terms of getting the crowds in.

Mike flynn is doing well how can u slate him it the team what is under-performing

Come on we are going through a slicky patch (looks like Arsenal are too) but with all luck thew F.A cup will provide a welcome change and we can get back to winning ways. But to be calling for peoples heads already is not really the way forward!!!
OK maybe critisise the team for a few poor performances But no-body needs the sack just yet

Look what he and Jimmy have done for the club over the last 6 years. I just feel people in here should look up the word supporter in the dictionary and study it hard. When we are going through a bad patch, a REAL supporter gets behind the team and encourages them not slate them and come out with "oh Sack Coley",

I think the management team are steady, and i dont think they should be sacked, but they should try to be a bit more daring with the team. It just seems that certain players seem to be automatic choices even though they have played badly or made little contribution in previous games.. I think the purchase of Flynn can only be a good thing and eventually his experience should guide the younger players, does everyone still think Smithy should play alongside him? Has Robbie Williams had his day? Will Hacker get back in the team?

I was just saying we should keep coley but if we continue to fall then it has to be a serious option just not yet

How come u continue to slate everyone who has a bad word against the club as not being a true surporter.
Surely the people who want to air there feeling are fans too because it shows they care for the club

You started this thread by implying that Mike Flynn is somehow responsible for any recent defeats. Did you bother watching his display against Hereford ?

Now you're toadying up to other forum members with your sycophantic comments.

It would be much appreciated by me (and possibly by others) if you could keep your divisive and unhelpful comments to yourself.

Why do we criticise individuals who have differing opinions to ourselves?

It appears to me that unfortunately you very quickly become persecuted if you are deemed to be holding an opinion that differs to “the forum veterans”

It’s only an opinion…………..for the record I do not support the ideal of dismissing the management team, however I accept the comment as a point for discussion.

McEvilly playing down the middle with Mullin!

Smith and Flynn and the centre of defence!

Too many options in the middle of the park, decide on our best pairing

A little bit of "Lady Luck" and a little more time!!

I was talking to someone last week who is a regular follower of Droylsden. He said that Howson is a firm favourite with the fans and he couldn't understand why we'd let him go on loan to them.

I don't think it's a coincidence that since we've lacked a proper left-back we've been leaking goals left, right and centre. When we had Bimson we looked a lot more solid in defence. I wasn't there on Saturday, but the BBC text commentary showed that 3 of the 4 goals we conceded originated down the left-hand side of our defence.

I'd love to see us go back to a 'proper' formation, with two strikers and some wide players. I know Rory's injured at the moment, but Lutel could give us width on the right.

Obviously things aren't right at the moment and at times like this we look to the management team to bring about changes, maybe not in personel, but at least in formation. When are the changes coming?

howson has done nothing wrong since joining stanley so why is he not playing.
maybe someone that is connected to the club could ask coleman on behalf of the fans.
after all he does have a lot of league experience and is only 23.

I'm not interested in criticising anyone for an opinion ; differing opinions are the life blood of any forum - and for what it's worth, Redskin, my opinions on footballing matters seem very similar to yours.

What I'm criticising is an attitude. I don't wish to see an agent provocateur posing hypothetical questions in order to create division. This is straight out of the Machiavellian Operator's Manual. This forum is being dragged down in a sea of pointless and tabloidal "What ifs" which are driving out reasoned and intelligent discussion ; I believe that it would be quite wrong not to comment upon this alarming trend.

As to what constitutes a "forum veteran" . . . count the posts, and you'll see who the real veterans are. Or are you alluding to what you perceive to be my age ?

Quote frtom Paul Cook on the official site. Does Mr. Cook not realise that Alsershot did not have any recognised strikers playing against us. Tim Sills and Roscoe D'Sane were both out injured. I don't remember Aldershot having an attempt on target. So instead of our defence being "magnificent" I think it should be that Aldershot were rubbish, and we still played with only one striker in spite of the fact that the defence were not going to be under any pressure.

I admit i know what coleman has done for stanley in the last 6 years but in my ophion this year they have done nothing (apart form the first few games) to suggest that they are title challengers and going on recent performances if they did go up through the playoffs i feel they could be were shrewsbury are in league two

Possibly as there was something in sundays nlp about attendances and it had ours as about 200 down an last season (somebody else do the maths) and the performances and results generally this season have done nothing to encourage the people of accrington to come and watch us

I have said this before but I thought Howson looked good on the pitch, but as I have said before maybe he does not train well or does not put the effort in when asked to in training!

Red,what a stupid post.Any player trains hard to try an impress so that they are picked to play.NO player wants to be on the bench or left out .
Let`s not forget at this level results and playing make the bread and butter.With Howson rumoured to be one of the lower paid I am sure he train`s just as hard if not harder than some who are more or less guaranteed a start,even after poor match performances.
Since he hasn`t played the results have been poor.When he did play we won 4 drew 2.
Looks to me like the wrong player might have been blamed.
Wasn`t he Colemans first signing.What for ? !!!!!!!!!!

Hey come on guys and gals, all teams have a seasonal blip and this happens to be ours. Lets not forget that the other teams around us Carlisle and Barnet excepted have all had blips as well so we are still there or there abouts. The cry for the managements heads is a little unfair, but if we caontinue in the current vein of form, then it may become more realistic. Lets face it, Jim Harvey's head was being called for prior to our visit to Morecambe earlier this season and we did not help his cause. He is still in position as far as I am aware and his team have improved no end. Even Northwich Vics have improved no end with a 10 point deduction in there points total. Lets get behind the team and the management and hopefully things will turn around sooner rather than later. Hopefully Mr Howson will come back a stronger player for his loan spell and assist the defence once more. Personally (and this is only my opinion) I would rather see Hacker being lent out for a while, although he does appear to be a better and cleaner player when he has played this season. (purely to build up his match fitness). I for one would like to see the return of Stuart Bimpson from Cambridge, and I know he wants to come back, if the terms are right for him and his family.

i am 101% behind coleys and jimmys decisions and theres only 3 points between 3rd and 8th so why we all panicking that coley and jimmy are doing a terrible job

Outback Ozzy you have a point about Bimson... Since he went back we have been in this RUT !! Just coincidence???? maybe.. But if he is keen to come and help out . I thought he was a very good player :).

Yes I rated Bimson but there were certain aspects of his game that I didnt and I know other supporters didnt like, one of which was his positional play and marking off the ball.

I'd prefer Stuart Howson back at left back and as Ozzy I hope he comes back even stronger.
