Trailists all did decent Roberto. I was most impressed with the center back Eckersley who has been released by Bolton, he looks the real deal. Carver had a decent 1st half, Hopper played the last 2 minutes so had no chance to shine really. Dixon looked OK, the bloke is massive!! Reading between the lines the back 4 looks like Lindfield, Winnard, Toto & Liddle at the moment with Murphy on the bench. Would love to see us sign Eckersley though to bolster the ranks along with a keeper! Miller had a good game in the middle of the park and looks a shoe in for the first game. Clark and Hatfield also did well when they came on. Joyce better watch himself this season as we have lots of competition this year in Midfield, which can only be a good thing :) Smickle came on at Right Wing and looked ok, but he scored which was his main contribution. Chippendale played Left Wing and was abit in and out, though he was up against it playing against a Championship defence. Rundle did ok up front as did the other trailist James Gray. All in all a very positive day :) |
Re: rovers games / two games
To be fair Macca, most of the team played well and the most pleasing aspect was the shape of the team and everyone seemed to know there job ( even the replacements).
Positives were Toto, although he needs to kerb his enthusiasum!!,Carver picked his runs much better, and the preston lads (sorry i keep getting there names mixed up) look good in possession. Still think we need a bit of experience,as during the season, young lads tend to dip in form (just part of there learning curve) for a short period. A experienced centre forward and possibly centre back wouldnt go a miss just to help the young lads IMHO and maybe a "ratter" in midfield |

Re: rovers games / two games
Thought it was a good performance from Stanley, yes we possibly lack a bit of experience.
Also good to see our local Hyndburn MP at the game,Graham Jones, watching his team, and fortunately he got to watch Stanley at the same time, or was he just there waiting to talk to the Venky's if they had turned up !! |
Re: rovers games / two games
Graham Jones comes up stanley, quite a few times, in fact he usually has a natter wi us in the oaklea pre-match. Didn't know this guys name "Eckersley" but i thought he did well at centre half.;)
