Well done to the lad. Let's hope he keeps it up and we'll be seeing more competition amongst the first team strikers.

way to go Marcus, find that net on a regular basis and we'll look forward to you having no fear to do the same in league 2.

Keep up the good work...keep banging them away !!! I'm sure it's not gone un-noticed by Cooky !!:D

I really like how Cooky is sending the young lads out and giving them game time, which can only be a good thing in my eyes.

I hope the likes of Stockdale and Dixon will also be sent out. :)

Love the kids being sent out, not sure about young dixon, think he has the most potential,of any of our young strikers,? still whatever Cooky reckons is fine wi me.:)

Re: Carver.........

Its an important part of a young players development.
From youth team to first team is a massive leap, and now there is no reserve games, its a must really.
There is no substitute for playing, which in turn breeds confidence.
Young Carver(who i think is a good propect) will have to work hard and keep his desire, and when he gets a chance --take it !!

cashman 24-08-2012 11:43

Re: Carver.........

I also think Carver is a fair prospect, but personally fer me Dixon has the edge at this point.:)

smudgie 24-08-2012 13:48

Re: Carver.........

Not for me. Dixon has never even played a 1st team game yet where as Carver has looked a bright prospect whenever he has played.

football19 24-08-2012 14:52

Re: Carver.........

to be fair they are two different types of players, and normally younger propects get a run up front or on the wing(were least damage can be done if things go pear shaped!!).
Therefore Carver will probably get his chance first, but both players have something about them.

Agree carver will probably get a shot first, but its all about opinions, i can only go off what i have seen wi dixon pre season, whereas have seen a bit of carver last term fer youth also, the fact dixon aint played a first team game is irrelevant to me, cos whilst carver showed potential he certainly didn't look ready to make the step up yet to me. By the way Grays been called up fer N.I. under21s, so things aint looking too bad to me.

Re: Carver.........

Regular football is a key factor especially for progression as F19 says my slight worry is we have a large squad no reserve team although friendlies can be arranged behind closed doors to give players a run out as well as loan deals as we are seeing at the moment but I also presume it will also be hard to keep everyone happy but I suppose that balances up by keeping players on their toes knowing there is competition for places.

I also think Marcus Carver is the real deal and if he stays focused and reaches his potential he will go on to have a superb career.

How could Marine win 4-4 :D

He means they've won 4 times from the 4 games played. Lol! Not sure but I think Marcus has scored 5 or more goals in that time too. Here's hoping he continues.

He has now scored 5 goals in 4 games, yes.

Scored another 2 last night.

6 games 7 goals, sounds like the kid is on fire. :)

Meanwhile, Morecambe have 4 good strikers in Redshaw, Ellison, Burrows and Brodie in their squad and we have....?

Re: Carver.........

I think your getting abit carried away Redraine, have you seen the League table???

Amond, Sheppard & Gray have all done well.

Sending Carver out on loan was the perfect thing to do in my opinion. As cashman says his confidence will have rocketed as a result.

Okay, okay, but seeing the Shrimps run rings round us last night upset me quite a lot. I will try to be patient.

It never upset me, disappointed but end of day we had 6 out fer various reasons, whereas yon lot could field a much stronger side.

Disappointing result, but as you say it would have been more disappointing had we had our strongest side out. It was interesting also that Paul Cook only made one sub. Maybe he thought the game had gone when we went two down.

Re: Carver.........

To be honest....I had the same thoughts last night as the majority on here... and wasn't happy with performance....but at the end of the day, I want Stanley to push for promotion and if that means losing in the 1st round of the JPT so be it

lancsdave 05-09-2012 10:03

Re: Carver.........

To be fair Marcus should be banging them in at the level he is playing at, good confidence building but still a fair way to go.

smudgie 05-09-2012 10:36

Re: Carver.........

Agreed, Its always disappointing to lose, especially against Morecambe, but honestly if we win on Saturday then I couldent care less about last night.

maccawozzagod 05-09-2012 12:38

Re: Carver.........

the level Carver is playing at is the level that clubs like us watch out for good young 'uns. Two years ago I reckoned we should sign a lad called Vardy from AFC Halifax who was banging them in....

Leave him be and with a bit of luck he'll fire 30/40 in this season and come back here with half the country trying to nab him from us

smudgie 05-09-2012 13:01

Re: Carver.........

Amen Macca.

Not sure about him staying their all season mind, would like to see him back after a month or two :)

football19 05-09-2012 18:01

Re: Carver.........

Carver is coming along nicely, and I would leave it until Xmas then at a look at him.Pointless in a up and coming striker sat on the bench, and really strikers in general start to blossom around 21-23 so he has loads of time on his side.

cashman 17-09-2012 12:47

Re: Carver.........

Carvers loan has been extended another 2 months says fishy, The kids the leading scorer in yon division, this can only do him good imho. keep at it young un.:)

Notice Carver was not playing fer Marine yesterday in the 2-0 away win, as it was n F.A. Cup qualifying round, that could be a significant omission i reckon?

I also quite liked Burton.

I remember when he made his League debut away at Burton Albion and looked a decent player.

A shame he was so injury prone.

Carver played and scored for Marine yesterday in their 1-3 loss to Macclesfield in the 4th Round Qualifying of the FA Cup.

Makes him cup tied for us :(

Young Marcus is back on board, a happy guy; who helps out with all things.

Suspect we'll go out again but so much "red tape (FIFA 3 for 2 )" we have to get it right for both parties;)
