Re: Rochdale Thread

Re: Rochdale Thread
Can't understand Why Nsiala has come straight back into team (after suspension - how many cards has this guy had ??) at RB, a position he's never played before - meanwhile Craig Linfield (not his greatest fan but impressed with way he's tried to fill in defence) left out. I appreciate that management have to explore different postional permutations but let's face toto ain't goin to wise up. Agree with Cashy, he's a liability , players seem relunctant to give him the ball .Moyes let him go, Toto's a Nono. Loan him out as far away as possible - do Lands End do a Team ? or Wick ? or maybe somewhere in Brazil since he strolls about like he's a latter day Socrates
PS Get fit soon Deano - we need you pronto - football19 or Merlin get Deano fit - soon as |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Well I had to miss the game, due to work commitments :(
I was also massively surprised to see Toto in the side, was Lindfield injured???? Anybody know about Lewis Hatch, I thought he was signed as a Right Back??? Makes the decision to send Eckersley out on loan look rather bizarre, I rate him easily as good as any of our defenders. Sounds like Ultra's covered themselves in glory............... "Also on the Ultras, for all the plaudits they get for being so fantastically ace, it needs noting that singing about the recent sex abuse cases in Rochdale is neither big nor clever. " Well done lads! Carving yourself a great reputation there. |

Re: Rochdale Thread
It was a great game to watch and in the end acci were unlucky.Acci started there preferred 4-2-3-1 system, whilst rochdale went 4-1-3-2,with Edwards the defensive mid.
Rochdale got out the blocks far quicker and we were all at sea for the first 20 mins, and both toto and murph were forced to drop deeper and they just got players in the spaces between the defence and midfield and attacked our back four. Once we settled we then got after there young back four and it was game on. Toto is a good player but not a right back and it showed, although he did get better as the game went on. I can understand playing the Watford lad and chippy to give us width, but IMHO ,it left us short when defending. Some great performances, molyneux,Joyce and podge were immense, and at times in the second half. We played them off the park, and coleys subs reflected this. If we had competed in the first 20 mins we would have won,no danger |

Some people clearly cant hack the banter, it happens both ways! Least Coley an Bell got the reception they deserved, as did everyone one way or another. Shame when the atmosphere's decent like yesterday nothing gets said about that eh... |

I think theres a difference between banter and singing songs about young children who have been raped, dont you???
|
Re: Rochdale Thread
Or them singing about jimmy saville?
|
Re: Rochdale Thread
And singin to them about it isnt exactly condoning the 'raping' so to speak is it? If anything its making out how bad it is surely...

Re: Rochdale Thread
Wasn't there so cant comment on what was being sung but agree with you 100% there Smudgie.

Yes, but it implies that everyone from Rochdale does it ... and as for them singing about Savile, a few muppets are always best ignored :D. (Edit) .... and I always like to give credit where it's due, so am really pleased to hear JC and Jimmy were properly received :). Good on yer. |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Well obviously everyone isnt going to be, its like anything

Re: Rochdale Thread
A huge following and not a peep from Rochdale. The only noise I heard all game was the 20/30 mindless thugs that were in the pub after the game. To quote 'we go every game away, we dont watch the football, we go to cause trouble'.
Now if we're talking about how fans portray themselves to others surely the actions of the idiots in the Pub, are worse than a few sporadic chants aimed at a town with highest unemployment rate in the country. Anyway i'll leave the politics. People are very quick to throw the negative on us, particularly considering many who criticise didnt see or hear the Clayton End yesterday. The clayton end was epic, packed to the rafters. I'd go as far to say our backing played a huge part in the fightback from our players. Coleman and Jimmy received an outstanding welcome before and after the game, whats your thoughts on that? Surely its more of a talking point. Its a local derby fueled by passion and emotions. The chants do not insinuate that everyone in Rochdale is involved in the 'topic' just as everyone in Morecambe is not a cockler, every player for Chelsea is a not Racist, its topical its banter. In fact a few things were aimed in our direction when Stan the Monkey was publicised and the Gambling saga came to light. I didnt take offence and nor should anybody else. We didnt sing about rape, or the abuse to Children, people are looking to far into it and deciphering it down to be personal to all Rochdale fans. The term 'banter' is used often but thats all it is. It wasnt taken too far as people are making out. |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Well said ash, The day the banter is removed from footy, will be a sad day indeed.;) Most of it is just good craic, there are exceptions everywhere, any fool knows that, but its always those that are highlighted to me,

Re: Rochdale Thread
If banter is taken out of football I'd have to find another use for the 6 fingers I have on each hand :D

Re: Rochdale Thread
After some time for reflection on yesterdays game I now feel it,s time to air my views great game with some great goals I think stanley should feel aggrieved they did,nt get something out the game and if we had come out the blocks in the first twenty the result would have been far different IMO. As for Toto,s little incident I like Cashy felt it was a stonewall pen but having seen it on tv and the stills on here I would say the ref was wrong the trouble with Toto is his tempremant at times and sometimes I feel it,s just like he wants to impress all the time maybe he needs to stand in the naughty corner for a couple of games he has great potental and you can,t fault him for his enthusiasum he needs a bit more care and growth and under Cooky and Leams wing I think he has a bright future.
As for the long awaited return of the messiah and his ex stanley desiples all I will say is thank goodness it,s all done and dusted and now we can move on with the new regime at stanley, don,t get me wrong we needed to give em the reception that they got which is all well and good but JC & JB are now history as far as Stanley is concerned so now we have got the niceties out of the way lets leave it at that and move on. Stanley have found in the managment duo of Cooky and Leam IMHO a team who can equal if not surpass the acheivments of the two J,s and if the start of this season is anything to go by to me the futures bright the futures Stanley. As a footnote it was good to see Rochdale could afford enough material for Mr Craney,s shorts and i wonder if they could find us an old pair we can us to cover the pitch when the frosty weather comes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Good post stanley convert, The penalty coulda gone either way, meself i still think it was one, Thing is though that attack would never have occurred anyway if Toto had not been lackadaisical and failed to trap the ball down the other end, simple as.;)

Re: Rochdale Thread
They deserved the penalty for the inept play from theClogger. positionally Toto is shocking, bad tactical decision to have him.at full.back.

Re: Rochdale Thread
If there was chanting about the child abuse in Rochdale then I would say the people who were singing are complete and utter morons and need to grow up. I currently live in Southampton so am not able to attend the games, but I guarantee if I'd heard it I would have both told the people singing to shut up and would have reported it to stewards.
For about 4 years [when I was about 15-19 yrs old] I watched Stanley, home and away, sang my heart out, but not at any point did I join in with singing that was so overtly offensive it is almost laughable; and I dont think I ever heard chanting of that nature. It is inexcuseable to join in and it is inexcuseable to just stand and let people spout such offensive bile. A lot of people who heard the offensive singing and didn't like it were probably too shy or not confident enough to say anything. But, there are enough people on that terrace who aren't backward in coming foward, who can let people know when they've overstepped the mark. The atmosphere at Accrington for some big games over the years has been excellent. We don't need offensive chanting to add to that. Why don't we try and be different to most of the negative stuff you hear about football fans and not put up with it. Excusing it as mere 'banter' is lazy. Potter |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Please dont think I was condoning or excusing the chants at all. I was more bothered that a negative was discussed rather than all the benefits that came from the Terrace yesterday. Pro Jimmy Saville chants coming from Rochdale, perhaps it provoked a response from those that sang it.
'Why don't we try and be different' Slight Insult. We have one of the most respected supporters groups in the country because we are different. To be honest, this discussion could spiral/be blown up into a mass debate. Its happened, perhaps those that we're involved will consider the implications of 'topical' chants in the future. The positives will always outweigh the negatives. This is Stanley ON STANLEY ON. |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Thanks for the reply.
Glad you don't condone the chants and yes I do agree with you that Stanley fans are already different from other clubs. I went to St Marys a couple of weeks ago and the atmosphere was terrible; I reckon stanley fans are the best in the country. And yes, I don't think the actions of a few should reflect badly on the vast majority of stanley fans. I wrongly got the impression that people on here were just dismissing it as 'banter'. I guess my reference to being different wasn't meant as an insult to the Ultras. It was simply an aspiration that you might be able to go to the football one day where references to things like the cockling disaster in Morecambe, child abuse in Rochdale, Jimmy Saville, Stan the Monkey, gypsies aren't made....And don't get me wrong, there is defintely more of that kind of thing at other football clubs. Im probably being unrealistic, but we can but dream. |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Stanley fans in general have always been more about supporting their own team than slagging the other fans/team, there's always a slip up, particularly against rivals, but SU without a doubt Premiership fans
|
Re: Rochdale Thread
Loved the game, brilliant atmosphere. Maybe going against the grain of the "John & Jimmy" love in, but didn't feel that the Jimmy Bell "Brian Kidd" impression when they scored in the 1st minute fitted the occasion - lacked a bit of class in my opinion.
|
Re: Rochdale Thread
Saying that Stanley fans are the best in the country is laughable . i can think of numerous clubs that have better fans. The rochdale game was good but that was the first good atmosphere the crown ground has witnessed in ages.

It was two songs that did one round. Not even bad lyrics it was just banter.
Being offended is a choice you may not agree with what people say but its your choice to be offended as its there choice to find it funny. No wrong no right just opinions |

Re: Rochdale Thread
Interesting topic, or two topics; 1) The Match. 2) The "Banter?"
1) My view of the match; Slack pass at the start by Joyce but why did Schofield let the ball go past him and why did Murphy not stay on his feet in his attempted tackle? All in all a GIFT start for The Dale! Second goal for Dale was also a gift from Toto but even more so from the referee. At the time I thought and said that the foul by Toto was just outside the box but people around me in the Clayton end disagreed! On Sunday I watched the goals on the BBC which I had recorded, playing the incident over several times at normal speed and in slow motion and freeze frame. This confirmed my initial view...the tackle/trip was indeed outside the box! In watching the goal over a few times I also concluded that the referee was poorly positioned and no way could he have given the decision so quickly without a second thought! I thought the referee was quite poor in general to say that he regularly officiates in the Premier League. He missed fouls on defenders coming out of defence on three occasions because he felt the need to turn and look upfield himself before advancing upfield. He also failed totally to pick up Ian Craney's backward leaning into our defenders late in the game. Having had two gift goals the Dale should really have run out easy winners but it is to the credit of our players and Cooky and Liam's coaching that we made such a good fist of it. I thought our goals were great and disgree with the report that their keeper was totally at fault for Romy Boco's goal. Romy hit the ball with such ferocity that the keeper was just not quick enough to react to it coming at him. In my view a great goal and lots of credit to Romy for having a go from distance. Lets see more shooting like that. Romy has done so well since his return! The winning goal for Dale was an absolute peach and the lad who scored it, may at the end of his playing days, put it up in his top two or three goals of his whole playing career. Bavs had no chance. In the end we could have easily run out as winners and I am ancouraged that the team/squad are shaping up superbly. Much better than I expected when I think back to pre season when I was very nervous about our prospects for the season ahead. Lots of respect for Coley and Jimmy before the match and at the end too. Onwards and upwards. 2) The "Banter" The Ultras were great on Saturday, the loudest they have been so far this season. My view on the chanting is simple. Sing your heart out for the lads in a positive way, even when we are not playing so well or are losing. But come on, leave the silly and abusive chants to others so that we can maintain our good reputation. The Ultras are definitely missing Jason who is now coming up to two years through his ban. Lets keep the flags and banners flying for the team as Jason would like us to and try to maintain the singing support in every minute of the match, like we have done in the past. November 2013 will come round soon and I hope that, if you are reading this Jason, that you will come back and join us! Finally, it has been a great start to the season. Lets all get right behind the team and the management. Try to bring a friend to the next home match and sing your heads off! |
Re: Rochdale Thread
who is this Jason people speak about?
It wasnt exactly loud chanting. More banterish sing song between a group of mates. Songs like Jimmy Harvey, you soft bastard, you fat bastard, w@nker etc etc are all 'bad chants' but if you don't like it, then there's nothing you can do about it. Lads will chant what they want on the terrace, they might be idiots but they pay there money like everyone else. I dont know why people bring it up and bring the ultras into it. We don't want to be involved with anyone else as a group, and represent the club as a fanbase as that's not what are group is all about but if you want to be involved with us your very welcome. Unfortunately were the only group of fans who sing so we get alot of the ****. At least were noticed. Peace. x |
Re: Rochdale Thread
Im more or less certain Jase isn't coming back when his ban expires.
Dont get me wrong, it would be great if he did, being good mates and everything he brought to ASFC, but i think he has found other things to do with his spare time nowadays, which is no suprise really. So, people can either say 'oh its gone downhill since he was banned bla bla bla' (which it may of), or get on with making it back to what it once was, or at least give it a go. ;) |
Re: Rochdale Thread
The atmosphere has changed or is different since jase was wrongly banned, but it is what it is. Ash and the rest have worked tirelessly to keep the tempo up, get the away days going and make match day what it is. If jase comes back, then great, but ash and co bang the drum for Stanley and they need recognizing for that. Had some great away days courtesy of his trips and organizations. If I haven't said it before, then thanks ash. For doing what you do and rallying the troops.

Thanks Simon. I dont take any gratitude from it at all, we're all in it together.
The Clayton End was epic on Saturday as is every Saturday away from home. Keep it up. |

We'll see you again in The Molson Coors Lancashire Senior Cup Quarter Final at The Crown Ground when a date is confirmed but i doubt as many fans will be traveling up road for work reasons or plain cba attitude's :D
