To be honest his time at scunny, he was voted "Fans Player Of Season" I am at a loss as to how/why Scunny let him go? Snakes got him on a Free, which makes no sense at all to me,

They needed to cut their wage bill and he is one of their highest earners, plus his contract runs out later this month so there would have been no fee.

I'm also surprised that he hasn't gone to a League 1 club.

Seem to recall jimmy in his time at Stanley, not signing n offered contract n saying there was plenty of time, n then letting it run out? Have just heard a similar thing happened wi him at Scunny? if this is correct it sounds very mercenary to me, If he does well the snake may just get the same treatment.:D

Re: Jimmy Ryan

I read an interview with Brian Laws (Scunthorpe manager) and he said that Jimmy was one that he would like to keep but they hadn't offered him anything at all. Jimmy was advised to have a look around and see what he could get offered, let Scunthorpe know and if they could match it they would and if they couldn't then he was free to go. Nowt mercenary about that from Jimmy Ryan

That ties in with this report in the local paper:
Midfielder Jimmy Ryan likely to leave Scunthorpe United says Iron manager Brian Laws | Scunthorpe Telegraph
