Not good for my heart, this, 45 minutes hanging on to a 2/1 lead!!

But I'll put up with this all season if need be!!

Well done to all tonight!

The gap with teams outside relegation zone now only 3 points.

3 points on Saturday could put us back in the mix.

Why did the ref play 6 minutes of added on time?
How did Xavi and Iniesta, sorry I mean Joyce and Murphy play tonight?

Thought the two fullbacks showed there class and experience tonight and the team defended as a unit for most of the game.Murph set the first goal up,but it was Grey who caught my eye.
Their cbs where a lot bigger than him,but they just didn't know how to play him,he was excellent.
My only bit of a moan, which others have picked up recently,we went 4-4-2 with a lot of width, which leaves us short in central areas, murph and Joycy are similar players, and what happens you end up marking space to fill the gaps in.
That's ok,as long as you press the ball in the final third, sometimes we didn't,and on another day will cost us.
If they play together, then you have to go 4-2-3-1 which means you lose the width. Who would be a manager !!,and JB got it right tonight :)

Re: Bristol thread

Well done to JB and the boys for a hard earned three points tonight.:jimbo:
At times we played really well and it was good to see some hard graft being put in especially by Gray and Mingoia. Apart from his one error the keeper Marcus played really well too as did Nicky Hunt particularly in an attacking mode in the second half. Aldred had his usual totally committed game and Deano did well alongside him.
The referee tonight was a total "Numpty!" He let too much go early on and then started booking players far too late. There could have been a couple of sending offs as a result of his weak discipline. He gave a lot of freee kicks early on though when players on both sides appeared to have simply fallen over in tackles! Murphy was lucky to stay on the pitch and sadly he seems to be developing into the type of player who looks to cause trouble. He dives for free kicks / penalties, does some stuff "off the ball" and is always the first to rush in to any situation when handbags have been drawn! Apart from his accurate but straightforward pass for Gray to score his goal Murphy's contribution to the performance was pretty negative.
On reflection, we have played to this standard before and lost or drawn. At least now we have broken the ice and we can look forward to better results in the future. I am looking forward to Bowerman getting match fit and teaming up with Odejayi when he gets back from suspension.
We still need to improve in central midfield where Murphy offers very little and Joyce lacks creativity and muscle. This must be JB's next focus. Perhaps when Wilson gets back from injury and another possible signing could improve that area of play.
Anyway, three points at last and the bad run has ended....
Onward and upward.
ON STANLEY ON:jimbo:

There were a few stoppages to account for the 6 mins extra and I think the ref added a bit on for a little time wasting by our goalie. Certainly the Rovers players were pointing to their imaginary watches a few times. It was very spirited show by the lads tonight and we carried much more threat up front and down the wings than we have recently, with Nicky Hunt, in particular, bombing up and down the pitch. I didn't hear the MOM announcement but thought James Gray played his best game yet, with Naismith, Webber, Aldred and Hunt the pick of the rest. This will be great confidence booster, but we really must keep the ball better in the upcoming games when under a bit of pressure, rather than hoofed balls to nowhere. I'm not going to answer your other question, but will leave that to others to comment, but it was a great team performance.

5 minutes DAVO.......Joyce and Murphy were adequate......not many stoppages except a couple of incidents that could (should) of seen them finish with 9 men.The ref totally bottled it!!!

Just watched JB's video comments.....
He was level headed, honest and realistic in reviewing the match and also in comparing it to earlier matches and in looking forward in the long term.
No histrionics, just faith in his players and in what he is trying to do at the club......
We still need to remind ourselves of the limited resources that he can call on here at our little club and I hope that we can get out of the relegation situation under his guidance....
BELIEVE!!!:jimbo:

Agree with all there especially regarding full backs (both Hunty and Nayls excellent) and our shape - two points I picked up on. Was wondering how much more effective we would be with a narrow three in front of Murphy & Joyce - we have the players for it (Mingoia was fantastic tonight).

Must also make a special mention for Webbs whose centre forward play was exemplary tonight in my opinion. His positional sense and first touch was immense. Well done Dan. This helped Gray to express himself. James was brave, determined and lively - everything you want from his type of forward.

Just what the doctor ordered tonight. Same again on Saturday.
Come on Accy.
