Torquay thread

Knill is under a lot of pressure and the fans seem to think he will be given only 2 more games to turn it round. I'm just wondering if the uncertainty will work in our favour, or will he step up to the plate and get his players to perform? Apparently he lacks the passion that the fans are looking for, and there are rumours that their ex player, Chris Hargreaves is being lined up for his job. As long as we play with our recently acquired positivity and application I'm not worried about the result whatever they decide to do!

There's only worrying aspect and that is, IMHO, Stanley's tendency to play well against clubs above them and get dragged down by clubs below them. And is this, other than the first game of this season (courtesy of the alphabet), the first time Stanley will be playing a team below them?:)
Other semi-interesting stat on Torquay this season is that they are in the top two of teams committing fouls but have very few yellow cards. Either they commit a lot of mild infringements or ( like Brazil ) (who...Torquay? ) commit bad fouls around the half way line before there appears to be any chance of a goal scoring opportunity.
Let's just hope Stanley continue to improve their shots on target ratio.

If we play like we did at Scunthorpe, Torquay should stop at home.;)

I seem to recall we were above Hartlepool (1 point against 0) when we went there. But they kicked on well once we gave them their first 3 points.

But it does seem to me that, over the last few seasons, we don't tend to make things worse for teams in trouble :(

I would think that knowing we would otherwise be back in the relegation spot would spur us to a win, with ambition to reduce the goal defecit,

This won't be an easy game, they will put 10 players behind the ball and look to counter/set pieces.
Concentration and patience will be key, together with a good work ethic.
JB will know this, and we don't want to conceed first to give them something to hold onto

Agree. Beware a wounded animal, especially one that was able to beat Bury 1-3 at the beginning of this month. At least they no longer have Howe to torment our CBs.
Shoot on sight, score first.

Blimey! That first poster on there makes Dav007 sound optimistic - sure hope he right about the 3 points to us though :)

Dead Man walking ?.... or as Exile says 'a wounded animal' preparing for a final, yet vicious Scrap ?....
As for their Forum users, I reckon they've had some sort of a get-together and prepared a sneaky 'we've no chance' concensus just to fool smobile, JB, and the rest of us into a false sense of security... dead crafty these foreigners from Southern parts...as smobile has probably found out !!.
Agree with F19 though...it will NOT, for one moment be an easy game !

I'm sorry, but we're just not allowed to play Scunthorpe two weeks running, however much we'd like another three points guaranteed.

And as last weeks display from the Reds brought about the demise of one, albeit not very competent, Manager. Will another victory today bring about the same result ?.
If so will Aidy Boothroyd not be feeling slightly paranoid during the week ahead after today's potential defeat at Hartlepool ?.
ps... Don't want to appear sadistic but.........
