Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
This - along with 3 from next 4 - is a very important game for us. Remain unbeaten in the next 5 and we will all be able to breathe more easily :)

Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
Whilst I would like this match to go ahead, the weather forecast for this afternoon is not good for the southern area of Britain. My worry is that we could fall behind in games played and personally, I prefer points in the bag and teams chasing us than us chasing teams. We have 2 or 3 games in hand on some teams around us, being at least 2 and maybe points better off would leave, I believe, most Stanley fans breathing easier.

Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
Weather down here in Hogshire is intermittent heavy showers and periods of sunshine, and very brisk wind. Latest forecast on the BeeB (if anything on there can be trusted) suggests much of the same for High Wycombe, with the risk of really heavy downpour now looking likely to be after the game.
Let's hope the ref is from Lancashire and knows what real rain looks like. |
Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
BBC text says Pierro had a "goal" disallowed late on for offside.
Anybody know how close the decision was? |
Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
From where I was looked onside.

Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
I think every Stanley fan thought Mingoia's goal should have stood. He was the furthest forward when he turned the ball in at the far post but it's extremely debatable whether he was offside when Wilson (?) fired the ball across the goalmouth, hitting, I thought, a Wycombe player on the way. I can only imagine that the TV highlights will show it as, other than Bettenelli's fantastic second-half save, there were few other highlights.
Earlier in the first half the same linesman put his flag up for an infringement several seconds after it was supposed to have happened after all the Wycombe defenders shouted "offside". Pretty poor and inconsistent refereeing but, then, so was the fare served by both teams. Stanley's defence did well yet again to keep a clean sheet and no player had a stinker, but then no-one played that well. Good to come away with a point. |

Still a good point, others will leave Adams Park empty handed

Re: Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread
I was pretty much in line and it was very close, wouldn't like to say one way or the other till I've seen it on the telly. Even if it did deflect off a Wycombe player it doesn't play him onside if he was offside when Gray played it. Having said that, I think we were the only team going to score in what wasn't a great game. When Gray came on, he and Mingoia were really causing the Wycombe defence trouble with their pace and they didn't cause our defence any trouble at all. We need to get the ball down more though instead of all the head tennis stuff because that's when we dominated them. All in all a good point though.
