York match thread

before disappearing down the road for a family dinner I thought I would set up ready to follow the match comm. on my return. For at least the last 3 games I get the message that capacity exceeds that set by the 'host' so can only resort to coverage by the beeb. Have Stanley given up providing this service does anyone know ?

Despite having the second highest 'goals for' tally in League 2 prior to today. The 'minutes per goal' tally of our current "striker" (I use the word with great caution) is less than satisfactory, as is his 'minutes per assist'.:(

Excuse me?! I'm at every single home game & as many away games as I can afford & have been for more years than I care to remember - even was one of the intrepid bunch who did the 560 odd mile round trip to Yeovil whereas you only seem to have popped up recently - don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the length of time anyone has been supporting Stanley makes them any better a fan than more recent converts but what gives you the right to question anyone else's support?

He's not a Stanley fan anyway. He's a Crooks fan and nothing else.

Good riddance to both.

Just back only thing to say is WHY? again start with a lad that is not a striker, never will be, when theres lads in the squad, they aint prolific but will pop up with a goal occasionally.:rolleyes:The super one should at least have the decency to explain this striker that never was, but somehow i doubt it.

Also the york goal our 6ft odd striker was outjumped by a lad who looked at least 6" shorter, Have just read the crap J.C. has just come out with, It was HIS fault fer the team he put out simple as, also crap is they put 10 behind the ball, that was only in last 10 mins, they dominated the game after their lad was sent off n attacked the arse off us.

Agree with above, some questions for the tactical genius:

Why was Crooks playing? (Almost felt sorry for him today, looked shot, shouldn't have been playing)

Has anyone seen Moly play well since he's been back?

Why put The erratic Windass on when Naismith was sitting there (remember his set pieces on sat?)

We actually looked quite lively with Gray and McCarten together and looked like we might get something (definitely one cast iron penalty denied) until the tactical genius stuck Aldred up from as well, dragging extra defenders in so there was no space for the other two.

Also why, when we throw a c back up front to give us a physical presence, do we keep playing tippy tippy at the back?? Hunt didn't play a forward pass more than 5 yards all day - awful performance.

Then to cap a miserable day the tactical genius insults everyone by complaining of inconsistency when his team selections and decisions actually go a long way to create the inconsistencies!!

DAV he's seriously out of sorts,we would have beat Yeovil twice if it wasn't for Crookes..So no matter what it costs us we shouldn't be playing him..In my eyes Colemans cost Stanley 1/2 a million playing him...Super Johnny Coleman my arse.

If he doesn't appear on the pitch I think is more accurate... hence his introduction as sub against Wycombe...........

Well there's one thing for sure, Crooks is CONSISTENTLY crap and Coleman CONSISTENTLY picks him regardless of being CONSISTENTLY criticized by the supporters.

Is it the same situation as Joe Lumley, we cant afford not to play him as we cant afford the wages?
Which leaves the question, why not use him as a sub?

To be fair it doesn't look as though he lacks effort or commitment, he is obviously being played out of position - is that his fault? It's the manager who keeps putting him in!

yonmon 27-12-2014 09:29

Re: York match thread

And yet few, if any, have directed any criticism at the other striker picked to tear the so can!!ed 'flimsy' York City defence to shreds !.
It is my humble opinion that John Maguire just failed to turn up yesterday !. His head was down, he was not only out of touch with his strike partner (?)...but also the rest of the team.
His attempts at chasing lost balls back were infrequent and ineffective, and on the few occasions he saw an opportunity to put the Goalkeeper under any threat at pass-backs , these were too late and half hearted.
Perhaps he was missing John no ?.... But didn't we all ?. Seems to me that a regular goalscorer does not exist in our current squad, and we need one badly !
The Referee unfortunately did not follow the accepted pattern of being in a position to see what was happening in the more important areas of the pitch and therefore missed one nailed-on penalty. This tackle was made no more than 10 metres from where I was standing and only McCartens feet and no ball contact occurred !...He also I felt allowed some of his decisions to be dominated by home crowd pressure!.....definitely not the man for the job !..

Finally, the White Knight bit !.... How dare anyone even suspect that our dear AccyMad is not a true Fan ?... But then she can fight her own battles !...Seasons greetings AM ..xxx

Re: York match thread

like most I have yet too see Crooks have a good game but you can not blame the lad for the lack of ambition up front, most of our shooting looked like passes back to their goalkeeper, the defence looked sound apart from the free header from which they scored, the team looked tired, which may have had something to do with the J B's excessive warm up programme prior to the match

yonmon 27-12-2014 10:20

Re: York match thread

Forgot to mention the 200+ Fans who travelled yesterday !....they were all in great voice and didn't give up on the team ..except one it seemed!...for a minute .
Stood next to Choirboy for the first half , who gave me a demonstration of the various sounds both celebratory and derogatory which he could produce on his red and white Vulvazulu !.
I was impressed to a level where I was seduced in to joining in the assorted chants which the Ultras surrounding me were belting out !..( Well some of them anyway !.).
All in all a good afternoon...except for the result !.

choirboy 27-12-2014 10:20

Re: York match thread

A poor day out for the Stanley Faithful. The team did not play up at all against a relatively poor but enthusiastic York side. Their fans too played their part with a great show of "Ultras" flags at the start as the players came out. I really miss our Ultras Flags at our home matches. I thought that Simpson did quite well in goal and that the defence looked quite soild with Tom, Rob and Deano having good games. Can't understand why Liddle has been left out after playing so well consistenetly since his return. Midfield struggled to create any forward pressure and build ups were spasmodic with only occasional bits of flair from Moly. He nearly conjured up a wonder goal with his left wand near the end. Up front we were woeful until McArten came on. He definiteley should have been awarded a penalty as Yonmon says. There was another shout for a penalty on McArten but I think he has been watching Gray and has learnt how to 'fall down'.
With a bit of luck we could have had a draw or even won it. Rob, Tom and Deano, (defenders!) all had chances but they were hit too near their keeper who collected them easily. If one of these had gone in it could have been a different story.
The York lad who got sent off should be banned for 6 matches at least as his 'tackle' on Tom was nothing short of 'assult' and Tom is lucky not to have his leg in plaster today. I thought that the Ref did well then as it was looking like a big rumpus was about to flare up but he cleverly brandished the Red Card immediately, which took the sting out of the situation. Then it got worse as the York lad walked off to a standing ovation by the muppets in the main stand. I have to say that I was really upset by this moronic showing from the York fans who then proceeded to 'Boo' every time Tom touched the ball.....Disgraceful behaviour!
Naismith should have been used as his running at defenders and his crosses could have unlocked their defence.
Hey ho....
KEEP THE FAITH:alright::signbeer:
ON STANLEY ON:wave8:

cashman 27-12-2014 10:33

Re: York match thread

Its completely baffling why Naismith was not used, in the last game his crosses were pinpoint which led to Maguires equaliser, n he was MoM fer me. But still the super one knows best.
