Dagenham match thread.

I,ll start this one thoughts anyone apparently only 2 defenders fit to train this morning, hopefully sorted for Saturday could do with winning this one.

andyd 22-10-2015 12:07

Re: Dagenham match thread.

Adam Buxton,Joe Wright,Dean Winnard,Tom Davies and Liam Wakefield all in the treatment room today unable to train let,s hope at least 2 of them are passed fit for daggers game.

its started already. the game where everything can go wrong will go wrong. haven't seem to have beeten these sods at home for years. off side goals, deflections dodgy refs and assistants the list is endless. rovers v burnley plus rugby semi final and weather forecast for rain will really cut into the gate as well. said I,d never go to a Dagenham game again but you feel like a traitor if you don't turn up though. luck and Stanley are words not to use in the same sentence.

I know what you mean about Dagenham games, always dread them but hopefully this could be the one where our fortunes against them change for the better??
Maybe in the season when our run against the Shrimps was halted, our luck against the Daggers will change too but the other way - I know, straws & grasping come to mind but I'm hoping that by 10 to 5 on Saturday, Tuesday's fiasco against the Wombles will be but a distant memory - will be keeping everything crossed

I think we will beat the daggers this time, crooksy will be back unless he gets crocked, i'm sure lessons will have been learnt from tuesday.

I agree Cashy!
I think that Crooks returning will be a great bonus for us but I hope that we can muster a decent defensive back line?
All the more reason for the Clayton End and t'others around the ground to get behind the team and management 100% and be that extra 'player' that can make the difference between WINNING and losing!:alright:
UP THE REDS!

Great result, looks like the Accy spirit come through.
Spent all day on couch watching sky sports feeling sorry for myself (poorly) and the team give me a buzz no medicine can give.
Made up for Matty getting his first goal,he'll be ten foot tall tonight.
Just waiting for all the usual suspects with their match reports to cheer me up !!

Odd game against a poor side.

We scored 3 and had two strong penalty shouts turned down - that on top of their keeper making 3 top class saves! We could realistically have scored 8 - without playing near our best IMO

Sorry to hear of your indisposition F19...I'm still struggling in this 34 degree heat in Lanzarote !...but Dan did an excellent text job and my afternoon has been a cheerful affair !.
Seems, from my eldests report that we missed something to savour, but old age is a bind !.
Glad for Seamus and Matty...like to.see Defenders scoring, hope they get more !.
Seems like the genius got it right for once !....although another of my forum friends will probably disagree !.
Get well....KTF.

Well deserved 3 pts against a poor Daggers side, Thought most had a decent game, could not understand the logic of starting Adam? he was struggling after a few mins, before he went down!!, seemed to me to just annoy whatever injury he had been carrying, will probably be out a bit longer now.

shakermaker 24-10-2015 17:54

Re: Dagenham match thread.

I don't know who those players were posing in Dagenham kits, but they were nothing like the John Still sides of old. No bite, aggression or guts in their game. Awful.

That said, the reds were fantastic at times. Could (should) have won by four or more. A solid midfield the difference from Tuesday night while the shored-up defence won everything thrown at them.

How we have Billy Kee in our squad I don't know but his quality is a cut above the rest in this league and his selflessness enables the fledgling talent that is Josh Windass to grab the headlines. Great to see Mingoia back to his best with a great assist for our third goal. McConville had a good game also, getting stuck in all over the park.

My man of the match goes to Brad Halliday who really had to fight against their pacey sub (Jones) once moved to left back. A great effort by a young lad thrown in at the deep end this week. Matty Pearson a close second.

Hope Dean recovers from his illness soon and the report on Bucko doesn't make for grim reading.

Re: Dagenham match thread.

Excellent performance against a team that where weak at the back. We had lots of headed chances(it showed how weak they where at the back and our desire to win the headers) and we could have scored a lot more. Kee was my man of match. He won most of his duels and set up most of are attacks." I believe" we can go up!

Redraine 24-10-2015 17:55

Re: Dagenham match thread.

A lot of our football was breathtaking today. Could easily have been 7 or 8 if a certain midfielder/ winger had taken his chances, but I think he is programmed to aim straight at the goalie! Great goal by Pearson at exactly the right time as it was looking like the wasted chances were going to cost us dear. Many stunning individual performances individually but I suppose I would go for Billy as my MOM with a masterclass of CF play, even if he didn't score. What a smashing game from our new man at left back too!

I thought Halliday was outstanding n said hope we can extend his loan, at least until were over our injury list.

Comfortable win.

Felt sorry for Jamie Cuerton, don't think he had a single chance today. Dagenham looked ok down the flanks, but their central midfield was dire.

Well player Mingola

Can't feel too sorry for Mr. Cureton, he's been a thorn in our side too many times but today looked no threat at all. Sad to see but maybe, just maybe it's time he reviewed his options

choirboy 24-10-2015 20:35

Re: Dagenham match thread.

I agree with earlier posters that our build up football was outstanding today:hothothot and also that The Daggers were a bit below par. Even the mercurial Jamie Cuerton, who did have one golden chance for them near the end but fluffed it! :bingobangWe should have won easily by SEVEN or EIGHT goals! :alright:
Pierro could have had a couple of goals as could Josh in addition to the well taken header which he did convert. Sean Mac had a great game and fully played his part in the teamwork BUT he really should have scored Three, or FOUR, or even FIVE goals today, if he only had that ruthless streak in front of goal. The most obvious chance came late on after a flowing move found him in the box one on one with the keeper. He had time to pick a corner of the goal or lift it over the on rushing keeper but he took so long in his indeciciveness that a defender actually clipped him from behind and Sean fell flat on his face! The ref perceived this as a dive by Sean and waved play on whereas I thought that it was a stone wall penalty, (yet another!) The truth is, he should have finished the move clinically and ruthlessly! This is the only shortcoming in our team at the moment. We really need to finish off these sort of teams without showing any mercy!
Having said that, The Daggers were a poor outfit today, but they did try to continue to play in a fair way and did not resort to foul tactics as some teams would have done when being thoroughluy outplayed!
Matt Pearson fully deserved his goal and by this time in the evening he may well be approaching TWELVE feet tall!!!
I thought that the disallowed goal headed in by young Joe Wright may have been a valid goal and I will be watching closely on TV tonight to see if he ran from behind Pearson who had the initial looping header. Joe would have deserved the goal as he too had a super game today!
The BBC Stats show something like 18 shots from us compared to 2 for The Daggers which indicates just how one sided the match was!
The ULTRAS were in fine voice too today and made the 'Extra Man!

ON STANLEY ON.....:theband:
with SUPER FOOTBALL ......
from JIMMY and JOHN and THE TEAM....

Re: Dagenham match thread.

Like you choirboy, I thought Joe Wright's 'goal' was a valid one, only for an assistant who was blatantly never up with play in the first half giving him offside. I also worried when Buxton was led off but Barry did a great job, until he too was injured. A little shuffling at the back and normal service was resumed. There was a scout in front of me watch Joe Wright and looking at his notes, he didn't think too much of him. Personally, I hope he stays with us for a couple of years! The forward play today was breathtaking and yes the team could have, nay, should have had 7 or 8 goals apart from the wayward shooting and a goalkeeper on fine form. Onwards and upwards, back in to the play-off positions and no real damage done regarding the 2 losses prior to this match. I suppose the real test will come against Orient next week.

Barry did pretty good considering lack of match practice, no warm up, it's not his natural position and apparently he's been ill.

Decent performance from the whole team, particularly kee. Feels like every game is a must win, gaps will start to appear in the table at some point and we need to make sure we are on the 'right side' of them.

We look a better, more composed side when Ant is in it, wherever he plays. Such a shame for him that Conneely is doing so well.

Re: Dagenham match thread.

When Barry came on what he did do was a lot of shouting and organizing a back line with a average age of 20 and limited leauge game experience which is a often overlooked big part of the game especially with younger players this I thought went missing on Tuesday. A sign of a good side when going infront is keeping composed keeping shape and keeping hold of the round thing called the ball even if this means passing backwards much to the annoyance of the get it upfield brigade who even moan when 3-0 up if this happens if you keep possession they can,t get back into the game and I thought we did this very well Saturday apart from a 5 minute spell when we let them score hope we learn to do this more often and we won,t be far away.

Re: Dagenham match thread.

Well I'm afraid I shall swim against the tide here and say that I thought the Barry was poor, notably his distribution. I can recall 3 occasions where he passed the ball about 15 yards directly to an opponent. A better team than Dagenham (and most teams are, I'm sure) would have punished us.

The mystery is Bucko. Did he have a fitness test prior to the game? Or was he played as a gamble? Sorry - I'll rephrase that . Was a chance taken on him being fit? To my simple mind, it was a gamble (oops, sorry again - I mean chance) not worth taking because it could well have exacerbated his injury problem.

You are probably correct, Dave. Being a fossil, I'm afraid I don't do twitter. I was going on the fact that he seemed to limp after the first tackle, and he walked off as though he was injured. Whatever it was, he seemed to my untrained, unmedical, unbadged mind to be unfit to start the game.

did come on Saturday and glad I did. forget the fact that they were rubbish lets concentrate on how good we were. could have scored double the number we did and still their keeper would have had a good game. better balanced side and barry had his best game for us. only downside apart from adam buxtons early substitution was the decision not to give a penalty for the foul on mcconville most obvious i.ve seen. keep it up lads promotion can happen.

Only a Twitter rumour but apparently Swansea are looking at Josh Windass, Would make abit of sense with James Beattie being a first team coach there!

Hopefully with the new investment we won't be rolled over for transfer fees like in previous years!

No doubt the powers that be will make brash statements with big figures mentioned, but when the cheque for 200k and a set of tracksuits is on the table it will be hard to tear up.

The statements on the website about the takeover and 'working capital'of around 600k can do a hell of a lot for a club like ours, couple that with a big wedge of player sales and we could have a rosy future. I too hope that we dont roll over and get our bellies tickled, and a nice FA cup run will help the ebay auction along nicely :-)
