Leyton Orient Match Thread
We've signed a winger from Reading, Tarique Fosu, According to Coley he's "Very Direct, Quick and a few tricks up his sleeve!
Coley is also hopeful Josh Windass and Terry Gornell will be available for selection! Massive game!! |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
should be one hell of a game i think.
|
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Also just signed Andy Little, Striker, Former Rangers player!
Not sure we need a striker with Billy, Shay, Rommy and now Gornell and Windass back in the frame... |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
I woulda thought a midfielder? but fair dos, this guys got class. Think the point is our league position plus Andy Holt is the only way we got these 2 lads i,m pretty sure of that.
|
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Promising news with the loan signings.
Mr.Kee's been brilliant but Stanley can't rely on a single player up front, particularly one who gets kicked and clobbered every game. And Windass and Gornell can't be expected to return and make an immediate impact. Hope the new winger has a left foot.:) |

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Love the way the fishy says Tarique is taking the squad number 30 and in the photo is wearing the number 27 shorts!! However, welcome to both Tarique and Andy Little. Astute signings IMHO. Could it be the messiah is going 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 for the last 9 games to get that promotion, instead of the 4-2-3-1 the team has been playing of late and been sussed out by the opposition. Good news that Josh and Terry could be back this weekend. Looking forward to the game tomorrow, here's hoping for a bumper crowd and another win closer to League 1.
|
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
No doubt tomorrow's game will be another nervy, gut churning affair -.forgot Orient now have Nicky Hunt in their midst but I don't think he did us much harm when he played for Mansfield against us.
Cant wait - even if I hide behind my hands for half of the game as I did against Wycombe, bring 'em on! :) |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
According to Reading fans on Twitter, Fusu should be in and around their first team so hopefully that's a good sign!
Think it will do Sean good to have a game or 2 on the bench to spur him on! |

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Gritty battling performance and I thought we managed the game brilliantly .
It was obvious from the start the bobbly pitch would dictate how both teams would play, and it was a cat and mouse game with both teams looking to counter attack. We eventually got on the front foot ,created all the chances and defended as a unit. They have prem league experienced players and up and coming players(on loan),add the leagues top scorer and this shows how good we played. Top of the tree for me was Kee and Pearson, absolute monsters, but you could pick anyone |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread

Matt Pearson was in the thick of everything down our left side. He defended superbly against tricky opponents but also knew when to put the ball over the main stand roof! For me Pierro was brilliant again! Always threatening their defence and working so hard defensively, chasing back and hustling opponents into making mistakes and winning throw ins. About 10 minutes from time Pierro chased down an opponent, won the ball and attacked, winning a corner and he just doubled over with absolut fatigue! Then he was up and running as soon as play got underway again. His spirit epitomised the spirit of the whole eleven today.:jimbo::jimbo::jimbo: Brad Halliday was another who ran himself into the ground. Late on, he got fouled by their full back high up the pitch, and as the full back rampaged forward I was urging someone from our midfield or defence to cover for Brad and to get a 'tackle in'..... but who got that important tackle in.?....Brad Halliday! Who had chased back, and not only did he get the tackle in, but he won the ball cleanly and then started another attack via Pierro!...... Awesome team spirit!:notworthy Ross had a solid game in goal but I hope that the knock he took late on is nothing serious. Hughes and Davies at the centre of our defence were rock solid and their forwards hardly got a sniff on our goal! The midfield players too worked so hard in order to compete for the ball against a well drilled unit including the quality of Kevin Nolan. The midfield might not be as slick as when Windass and Crooks were in fine form but there certainly is no lack of industry there. Seamus for me had another super game! He is so cool. He never panics even when in tight corners, and is so astute with his passes! Brown worked so hard and now looks fully match fit and he took his goal superbly, drilling the ball low and hard to score a well deserved goal!:ban: Shay and Sean also ran their socks off and although Sean made a couple of wrong decisions when getting into scoring positions I have to say that he fully played his part in the win today. With a bit of luck he could have a had a hat trick!:theband: In conclusion then, it was an impressive victory and was so important as some of the other teams around us a had good results too. There was a super atmosphere on the Clayton End and it was great to see more turning out to see the REDVOLUTION IN ACTION:s_gupjump:s_gupjump ON STANLEY ON:wave8::signbeer: KEEP THE BIG PUSH GOING:mosher::jimbo::jimbo::jimbo: |

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
McConville SHOULD have scored two, he played two AWFUL passes, but the rest of his game is spot on. He tucks in, tracks back, plays the tippy tappy stuff - all the things that he (and Piero) are asked to do. THAT is why he is picked every week. If he can do the frilly stuff on top then he gets a pay rise or a move. Piero WILL move on to bigger and better because he does his job plus extra. Sean does his job better than the alternatives but unfortunately hasn't got the frilly stuff on enough abundance to deter his detractors.

What a great result on such a lovely day. The atmosphere was boosted by the big crowd. There were some folk there today i hadn't seen on the Crown Ground in years. Onwards and upwards for the boys in red!

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Ok lets have some honesty or are yeh incapable, how many times do yeh see that super player pull out of the tackle, not just today every match? thats as well as the mistakes yeh saw. I may be outspoken but ive never been blind.

People says ran should have scored,I was right behind in and he opened his body and tucked it in the corner only for Alex to save it with trailing leg.
If it's easy to score can someone tell me why Messi has miss so many from 12 yards this season !!! Thought he played his part today and he set the goal up with a great pass with the outside of his foot, real quality, which we needed to open them up |

If you watch the highlights of the game, Sean is involved in every attack shown, Coincidence?
Hopefully signing Fosu will keep Sean and Piero on their toes! |

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
I never called Sean a super player Cashy, football is all about opinions everyone's entitled to theirs - my point was others make mistakes, of course they do - they're human not robots but no-one else seems to get singled out for criticism like he does.
No need to call anyone incapable of being honest just because their opinion is different |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
know its all about opinions, my point being the times he pulls out of a tackle every game, sometimes leaving us in what could be a bad situation, that may be good enough for some, but it aint for me. none of his acolytes ever mentions his doing this, look back over many posts, i have said when he has done well. so the fact some dont to me is a lack of honesty, which ever way it cuts.

Just a few other random thoughts from yesterday. Scott Brown is such a very different player from Matt Crooks - far less flamboyant, far less prominent. But I would dare to suggest that we have not missed Crooksy at all - we have conceded only 1 goal in 3 games during his absence. It was interesting to compare the performance of our two full backs with that of Nicky Hunt. Brad and Matt were full of running and always posing a threat to the opposition. The sight of Nicky Hunt blatantly tripping Sean McConville (why wasn't he booked?) summed up a very lacklustre performance from the full back. Finally, I often have the opportunity to travel back with opposition fans. Most of us have to look at opposition websites and forums for their opinions but spoken words, person to person, are more telling than the thoughts of keyboard warriors. The group of Orient fans who accompanied me to Crewe were full of praise for Stanley. They were especially impressed by our organisation and our performance as a team. They thought our defence was magnificent - the first time that they had seen Jay Simpson look so anonymous. |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Orient's press team sat begin us had similar praise for our lads, (once they'd gotten over the cosiness of the space they were allocated :)) - was good to hear such comments from them, a welcome change from some who have occupied the press benches

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
We were very organised all game RR.
To be fair,Scott sits in so we have a true holding two, were crooks loves to join in all over the pitch. One makes us solid, one makes us exciting. For me,as playing surfaces deteriorate,I would be looking to be solid in our run in,but you have to play him as he's top draw. |

Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Well for one reason or another only my 3rd game this season, really enjoyable day out.
I actually enjoyed the 10 minutes queue to get a ticket for Clayton End........ Has the town FINALLY woken up?/ Or was it a combination of a nice day and no game at Turf Moor or Ewood? Not sure, but I haven't seen the ground so busy in a LONG time. As for the game itself, as others have said, it was pretty much a non-event, apart from or goal and Mr messiah Mcconville missing more sitters. In the end it didn't matter, but I really am staggered at how poor he is compared to the rest of the team. Quite clearly MILES off the pace for me. As for the rest I thought Mingoia, Kee and Halliday where absolutely magnificent. What a trio they are, if we go up it would be superb to keep hold of them next season. Also must mention Etheridge in goal.... he has had to wait a LONG time for a chance but really does the look the part to me. Will be at the Cambridge game next Saturday. On Stanley On. |
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
A belated YAHOOOOOOO. Had to catch a plane to Christchurch (daughters wedding) real early Sat.morn and when I left the score was 1-0. Had to wait till plane landed before I got final score.Been computer free for a couple of days, and wouldn't have cared in the slightest if wedding had turned to custard because Stanley winning was what this weekend is all about.
|
Re: Leyton Orient Match Thread
Glad to see you have your priorities sorted, KJ, and congratulations to your daughter. I'm sure she will love the Stanley shirt you got her as a wedding present.;)
