We will be fine, there are far more keepers out of work than clubs after them.

Mingola is the player we need to get on a new contract.

Re: Summer Signings!

I dont feel like he'll be a miss at all.

He was neither a shocker nor a good un. Just a keeper.

That sounds a bit disrespectful to keepers but in every league you have 4 or 5 good uns, 4 or 5 bad uns, and the rest are unnoticeable. They dont make many worldies and dont make many howlers.

He was young and his confidence will be up after half a season as number 1. He WILL get better and more commanding but equally (despite improving) could end up lower down the pyramid. I'd be very surprised if he did an Elliott or Randolph.

Werid couple of tweets from the boss Andy from his Twitter account!

First about him saying it feels like end of junior school with half his mates going to different secondary school (obviously means the players)

2nd is new crop of lads for next year and grow the revenue and hopefully keep more end of next season, hard For coley at this time

3rd great that we have managed to keep a good number of players for next season!

Aaron Chapman a free agent wouldn't mind him back if over his injury problems was better than both that have left neither of them were out special Macca your right loads of keeper's available another that springs to mind is Eastwood just released by Rovers.

Stevo 26-05-2016 11:09

Re: Summer Signings!

Well I didn't rate Etheridge all that highly at all.He was average at best, especially if you look at the Wimbledon goals. He also dithered a lot in distributing the ball out. Mooney was a much better GK more dominant and commanding, and had a good kick and kept the ball in play more too. His. Downfall was the Portsmouth game were he completely lost it.
Aaron Chapman was the one who impressed me, if he has recovered from his injury.

Copied this list from Baldy's earlier post with his suggestions...
.... but I have edited it, (as far as I know), with who has signed or been released or have been offered contracts. (I do appreciate that I may have got some of these wrong or that I might have got some bits wrong and overlooked some players!)
Anyway..... please edit and then we can keep up to date with the 'Comings and Goings!'

Etheridge - Gone to Doncaster Rovers!
Mooney - Released

Pearson - Already Signed
Davies - Offered a Contract
Winnard - Offered a Contract
Buxo - Offered a Contract
Hughes - Offered a Contract
Wakefield - Released

Piero - Offered a Contract
McCartan - Offered a Contract
Rommy - Offered a Contract
Sean Mc - Already Signed
Conneely - Already Signed
Brown - Offered a Contract
Barry - Offered a Contract
Proctor - Offered a contract
Shaw - Offered a Contract

Billy - Already Signed
Terry - Offered a Contract
Carver - Offered a contract
Little - Offered a Contract

So as far as I can see we can only turn out FOUR players at the moment!

ie Next Seasons Squad;

Keepers;
?
?

Defence;
Pearson
?
?
?
?
?
?

Midfield;
Sean Mac
Coneely
?
?
?
?
?

Forwards;
Billy Kee
?
?
?

Can those of you... 'In The Know'... keep it updated please?

Is there any substance to these departures & re-signings? Nothing on fishy site or twitter that I can see?
Had heard that Tom Davies was going but hoping the rumours about the other two are just that, why would Buxton go to Tranmere - aren't they still in Conference?
That said, would be happy if it's true that Scott, Shay & Mark Hughes are staying - would love to keep all the squad if possible (I know that won't happen but if we can keep the majority that'd do for me)

AS one of the few people who does not rate Buxton (his fitness is shocking for a league player), I am also surprised why he would step down to the conference at a club who will find it hard again next season to get back into the football league.

I can only assume they have more than doubled his wages?

Its a strong rumour here in Morecambe about Dean Winnard.

And after we have released all but 2 of the defenders we had it would make sense to sign experienced replacements.

can understand a player dropping down to the conference to a team like tranmere who must be one of the favourites for promotion. they are not tied by the fair pay system as lower football league clubs are so can pay stupid wages if they have a sugar daddy backer. as for dean going to Morecambe I can,t see his wages being much different from ours and in recent years players from Stanley who have moved there haven,t really set the world alight. better the devil you know.

We haven't had much luck with injuries.

Peter Murphy missed most of last season with cruciate injuries. I am expecting a big season from him.
Molyneaux was improving towards the end of last season so again he will be a big player for us next season.
Paul Mullin had a couple of decent seasons for us.

Tranmere with their crowds 3 times Stanley's can pay a lot more of their own earnings.

As I assume so can Doncaster, so stanley now have lost both keepers!

Re: Summer Signings!

Looking around the leagues there is a surplus of good players available. Would they come to Accrington I am not so sure. We need to be signing players from at least league one just show ambition if nothing else. Last season was cruel but we all have our ideas and opinions on that but it is history. I am somewhat bewildered at the loss of two goalkeepers along with some good players through the centre. I am worried that if Piero goes a lot of fans will follow. The club need to start signing quality and quickly as we will only have the choice of whats left. There are far to many rumours flying about to be doing the club any good. We have a man who has invested in the club and is a supporter, we have heard rumours about JC&JB going off to Port Vale or Oldham or even Timbuck two. We have not had any denials from the club or personnel involved. We need some positive news quickly.

AccyMad 30-05-2016 17:27

Re: Summer Signings!

I agree that some positive news would be good but the club can only do that when there's something to tell, empty half promises would be worse than no news I think. Rumours will always abound about players &/or managers moving on especially when a club have had a great a season as we've just had.
And while most of us would be gutted if we lost Piero, me included - i don't think any real fans would stop supporting Stanley because of it, players come & go but no matter how good they may be no one player is bigger than the club

Quite right Lemur.

Coley never does any business at this time because he has no money to do so. This year is no different (and neither should it be). All players, ours and other clubs will be keeping their cards close to their chests in order to get the best deals they can. Clubs offering deals out now must have the money to just offer what the player has asked for.

In the past Coley has given the squad a week or so to make up their minds, but if Buxton, Piero, Winnard or Davies decide to sign on the 30th of June, would he turn them down on principle? Only if he has already got a better iron in the fire :-)

[QUOTE=Chrisr;1169718]Looking around the leagues there is a surplus of good players available. Would they come to Accrington I am not so sure.

why wouldn,t players come to Stanley especially a younger player like tom davies who,s career the club put back on its tracks. looking at players who have done the same and have gone on to bigger and better. at the same period last season we didn,t have a goalkeeper so why the panic. its the usual silly season when rumours are rife and only hope that we don,t loose half the team as 2010/11 proved.

Can't help but think Coley going to Rochdale, Southport and more so Sligo has widened Coleys knowledge of potential signings, Plenty of decent players in the Irish league that are looking for a break over in England to get spotted!

football19 31-05-2016 15:47

Re: Summer Signings!

There's loads of decent players, but with experience comes higher wage expectations, Coley is aware of this and that's why he's been successful.
Think you have to be a certain type of player at Acci,we're work ethic is key, hence what Cashy said, hungry young lads mixed in with a bit of experience

Change is part and parcel of football. We are likely to lose 2 of our better players in Devitt and Miller but I will wish them well if they do decide to move on. It does seem as though our "takeover" is imminent so hopefully Dean Winnard is the first of a number of good signings.

Totally agree Macca good luck to Deano but I too think we have had his best years unfortunately for him I think his injuries are starting to take their toll Coleman offered him a deal he,s chosen to go elsewhere probably thinking he will get more game time we move on and we will progress and unearth more gems and finish above Morecambe yet again.

I'd have him too, if only to stop him scoring against us in both games if he stays in League 2, or knocking us out of the cup playing for some "southern non league bankrolled outfit"!

Andy,26 and his best years are behind him?,should be at the top of his game !!!
His injury wasn't football related (torn his pec muscle) and prior to that,he was a regular !!.

Really sorry to see Deano go to pastures new but wish him the best for at least 44 games of next season. He's been a Stanley stalwart and deserves the respect of all fans.
That he's moved to Morecambe should not be cause for any ill-will in my mind, but then I've never really been into parochial rivalries in football. (Would it be better if League 2 was entirely southern clubs plus Stanley so there weren't any local 'rivals' to fret about?)

The quote was originally mine Ian. Deano is a top player and I'm surpised we held onto him for as long as we did. Without knowing the ins and outs I'd wager Diane had it spot on that Morecambe offered 2 years and we offered 1, probably a bit more cash as well. I do stand by what I said that I think we've had the best of him though. He's a warhorse and has played through injuries many, many times. Given the fact that he is a 100%er as well I think those injuries will start totting up.

I havent the stats in front of me (yet) but it will be interesting to compare his season on season appearances since he signed.

On another note it always saddens me when players move to 'rival clubs'. I know they dont have the same loyalty as fans do, but as a fan you always think the players first reaction would be "you can eff off if you think I'm signing fer t'cockle pickers"

And on another, another note, I'm glad you've said that you might hang around. One of the few sensible posters on Accy Web and I always enjoy your unbiased, (unless referring to Deano) opinions on a game. We nearly had to get the mods to put in a compo claim to Shrimpsvoices!

We offered Mark Hughes a 1 year deal with option of another year, Surely we would have atleast offered Deano that?

Good player and one of the more experienced even at 26!

Macca, try to talk just football and stay away from the other rubbish !!.
Wont be joining any other forums thats for sure.
its weird how Acci gets in your blood, maybe its because ive been brought up watching Wigan from the northern prem days (never paid to get in !!),there are massive similarities.
Hope the new regime doesnt forget from what the clubs all about, but i cant see it as the owner is a top bloke.
Can see Coley coming back stronger then ever, and a new playing surface will only enhance his style of football.

Toto is out of contact at Grimsby although they have offered him a new deal.

Coley signed him when he was at Southport so obviously likes him, Could we compete financially?

Ay, but has he stopped getting caught in possession at the back? Gave us all palpitations more times than I care to count ............:D

Having palpitations is what supporting Stanley's all about :D - I'd have Toto back in a heartbeat

The same source that broke the news on Dean Winnard has now said that we have been talking to Liam Wakefield.

good luck deano and thanks for the memories. always harrier when his name was announced in the starting line up. as its been said probably the 2 year deal that had decided the move. hope those left to be signed up e.g. piero are offered 2 years and not one.

Quite possible - we released Liam last week, rumour had it he could be on his way to Tranmere but probably would rather stay in the league if he can, didn't play that much for us really but did ok when he did feature

Yes , I saw you had released him. Is he any good ?

Like I said, we didn't see much of him - seemed steady enough when he did play

Re: Summer Signings!

I wonder if there is any hope of getting Brad Halliday back, That would be a swoop. I understand it is rumour season but after the season we had, I was expecting a lot of early trading. I know the players go on holiday but Coley's holiday is at the end of a phone. I have to give credit to Andy Holt for spending big money on a little club like ours. Things like that get us noticed by players from higher leagues. There is a bright future if we can raise our games again. Sorry to hear that Deano is off to Morcambe. He had a bad season with injury. we have only a few weeks to get players in and bedding into the team. Then off we go again with some tough opposition this coming season. As for some of the players not coming to Accrington I was alluding to league one and championship players at this point.

Not signed for anyone Macca, always liked him,but the signing of Halliday and the form of Matty and Bucko limited his appearances.
Good signing for someone

Gutted about dean leaving, he was ever present before he got injured and always would be his first name on the team sheet! Brilliant player, morecambe will do well with him. But football is a short career and we don't know why he has moved be it for a change or money and things! But whatever it is wish him well, great player!

choirboy 01-06-2016 21:57

Re: Summer Signings!

Its sad to lose a committed, gutsy player like Deano but I can understand him leaving as his opportunities last season were limited, partly due to injury but also by excellent performances of other defenders. Good luck Deano. I am sure that you carry with you a lot of respect..........:mosher:
but I hope that you score a few own goals and give away some penalties when we play Morecambe next season!
:tongueout

As for Akinfenwa as a possible Stanley signing........
Absolutley NOT ....No Thankyou!:stop::knife::end::s_boom:
The style of play that we would have change to is not the kind of play that I would want to watch and I firmly believe that it is totally the opposite of what Coley and Jimmy believe in too!
:alright:

real shame Winnard has gone, hopefully he will re-sign for us next May after Morecambe narrowly avoid relegation and Stanley win the league!

Think many of us knew Piero's exit was on the cards, am gutted but wish him well - just think he could've done better than Cambridge tbh, no disrespect to them but we all know he's better than a league 2 player & have no idea how we held onto him as long as we have.Guess the move must be all down to being nearer to his family as he's said

cashman 02-06-2016 06:57

It certainly was that reason Piero moved, have known fer quite awhile, wish him all the best, a top player and a smashing fellow.:)

Outsiders bet for title? Decent strong club and must be preparing a squad to have talked him onto their team. Sad day

Compo?! He'd never play football in them wellies :D - sorry, too soon for jokes - I'll get me coat!

its getting like 2010/11 close season again. lost a decent keeper, deano gone and now our most exciting mid fielder gone to the land of the push bikes. seems a new team being on the cards for next season. its not been a good few weeks for us but hopefully coley has some rough diamonds ready for us next season. thought piero might have gone up to division 1 but as with deano we have our memories.

Chimer 02-06-2016 08:36

Re: Summer Signings!

I've not seen that many Stanley goals  but Piero provided two of the best - the winner against Pompey at Fratton after we'd blown a 2-0 lead, and the screamer against the Wombles a fortnight ago. All the best, but I wish you hadn't gone :(.

RedArmy1968 02-06-2016 08:36

Re: Summer Signings!

Is Piero not to old to qualify for Compo?

Please correct me if im wrong, but i believe it is players Under 24 and with Piero being 24 nearly 25 he is to old.

Out of the main starting eleven not counting loanees we have 5 signed up 4 have left leaving Buxton and Davies to make up thier respective minds believe Buxton on holiday for 3 weeks so might take a while, but if we can keep these 2 plus 4 or 5 decent signings I think we will be OK.
