Summer Signings!

Although our season isn't over yet, Seen as a few players have been released by other clubs, Anyone you'd fancy At The Wham Stadium?

I've just seen Grant Holt has been released by Rochdale...

Re: Summer Signings!

I reckon we'd benefit from focusing the majority of our recruitment in midfield. If we can keep the majority of our defence we'd be fine and have decent strikers (though more would never hurt). I think we should be looking for centre-mids, attacking-mids and wingers personally with who we're due, and who we're likely to lose.

Football league rules stipulates that all club's have to submit their retained list,s before Saturday the 21st of May does this include the team's involved in the playoffs or are they allowed more time.

I fully agree with you Monkey Hanger. No prospect of who will sign contracts until our 'Season' is finally over.
My worry is that if we don't get the promotion that we deserve then we will lose a few players! On the other hand if we do finally win promotion then I think our 'retained ' list will be somewhat healthier.:idunno:
Whatever happens in the next 2 or 3 weeks, John and Jimmy will have to build a new team as they have done every summer. This year we will 99.9% certain lose some excellent loan players such as Hetheridge, Fosu, and Halliday. One or two may also retire.....Procky, possibly to go into the world of Physiotherapy....... Hughes is our elder statesman and has done really well for us but who knows if he will be signed on again? That's five players which is nearly half a team!
Next season still seems along way off yet to me with the pending Play Off matches our main focus.

Let's just hope that we can achieve the impossible and win PROMOTION.:theband:

Well we now know which league we are in be interesting to see who Coleman offers contracts to he said in his post match interview last night players have been offered but he might lose 2 or 3, I think a few might be released as well and a couple more youngsters given their first pro-contracts personally would love to see a big forward to play alongside Billy because that,s one option we haven't had somebody to bully opposition defenses missing footy already can,t wait for preseason and a day out at Blackpool.

Who I'd offer deals to for next season...

Etheridge - Offer Contract
Mooney - Release

Pearson - Already Signed
Davies - Offer Contract
Winnard - Offer Contract
Buxo - Offer Contract
Hughes - Offer Contract
Wakefield - Release

Piero - Offer Contract
McCartan - Offer Contract
Rommy - Release
Sean Mc - Already Signed
Conneely - Already Signed
Brown - Offer Contract
Barry - Release
Proctor - Release
Shaw - Offer Contract

Billy - Already Signed
Terry - Offer Contract
Carver - Release

Think that's everyone...

Not sure who the 2/3 Coley is referring to who haven't signed deals but my guess would be Piero, Tom Davies Shay McCartan!

Message to Pierro....

We all love you Pierro....
Please don't leave us.....
If your girlfriend is as nice as you....
Then bring her up here and we'll love her and she'll love us too!

With respect to Pierro, he was released by Watford and initially with us he didn't seem to have 'The Fire' in his belly until Coley used his unparalleled 'Inspirational Qualities' to get the lad to have BELIEF in himself! Pierro will not find another manager anywhere who can do this as well as Coley does. It is what Coley does best! He takes players who have often been 'cast adrift' either as 19 or 20 year olds or as older players and he 'Turns Careers Around'!
Pierro has the chance to become a 'True Stanley Legend' by giving us a few more years of his infectious, enthusiastic and skilful play!:theband:
ps Pierro's goal the other night was 'MY GOAL OF THE SEASON'! WHAT A STUNNER!:alright:
STAY PIERRO STAY!

Exile on Spencer St 20-05-2016 08:36

Re: Summer Signings!

Totally endorse the sentiments above about Pierro; best news of the summer would be to hear that he's staying at Stanley. He's been a committed member of the squad for a few years and has always acted in a professional manner.

His dad and family have also been great fans of the club at many games.

I can't imagine there won't offers made, but he's had the decency not to go sniffing them out before the end of the season (unlike some) and to see out his current contract with Stanley before having to think about his future.

Given his loyal service no-one should begrudge him if he decides to move on and, although we'd all miss him, he will remain forever a Stanley legend and fans' favourite.

Recently failed an out-of-competition drug test. No ta.

Would take super Peter Murphy back in a heartbeat however. If he can get healthy and back to form it would go some way to replace Crooks. That's not to say anything against Scott Brown; Scott has been a brilliant addition and deserves a crack at the first team next year.

What is even more surprising is to see the likes of Matt Crooks and Josh Windass on the retained (players under 24 offered contracts) list. We all know they are off to Glasgow Rangers this summer. As for Proccy, I suspect he will sign on to assist Mike Newell with the first team coaching. Noticed last few matches he was running the warm up for the team. I have heard that Marcus Carver is off to pastures new as well. Before anyone asks, I don't know where, just told he was leaving the club. Feel sorry for 2 lads who signed deals after being with our youth side. What does that say to the kids signing on this year?

Re: Summer Signings!

Hoping Coley can get a Elliot/Bettinelli type season long loan keeper with Ross as back up!

Suprised about Carver and Proc, Barry isn't our best midfielder but don't think he's a bad backup.

Haven't we offered Crooks and Windass deals just so we get some compensation or does that not count if they're out of contract?

AccyMad 23-05-2016 14:27

Re: Summer Signings!

Not really surprised at the four leaving, I heard a while back that Jason's going home to get married so kinda thought he'd be leaving regardless of if he was no. 2 goalie or not - best of luck to all four & let's hope that most of those who've been offered contracts stick around.
Agree with Ozzy about Proccy, some sort of coaching role would be ideal for him - don't want to lose his experience & influence

The retained list isn't players who are staying, just ones you have made an offer to stay at least as good as their last one. It is needed to get compo.

That you have to be good and give 100%??

plenty of players have made it into the first team under Coleman, if you want to get into the first team of a club who finished 4th, you need to raise your game.

Crooks and Windass had to be offered deals to secure compensation.

Agree, Cashy, he was a big part of Stanley's good season.
So, once again, Stanley need to begin again with no established keeper (and no, Davo, we don't need to know that Dunbavin is available).

Re: Summer Signings!

Dan Jewell reporting that ASFC found out he signed for them on Twitter, which if true isn't good at all! Surely the club and certainly coley deserve more respect than that!

Ross was a great pro, never complained and took his chance when it came.
Couldn't split them at the start of the season, but he certainly finished the better keeper

Oh, poo sticks :(

Not a very mature reaction I know but it's a bit like having salt rubbed in a still open wound when the players start leaving - hope it's not 2011 all over again -not a happy bunny!

Really hope that wasn't the case - not the way to part company with your club :(

No of course it wouldn't, but if we had known / suspected Etheridge was going we might well have offered Mooney something instead of releasing him and leaving us scratching around for a new keeper.

Never filled me with confidence, always looked like a mistake waiting to happen, I will fall short of saying good riddance, but I am sure we wont miss him, more concerned about losing Davis, Buxton and Ming
