Re: VS Halifax
I was wondering where we would go. Never been in that stand, it is the one parallel with the main rd, all seated.
Any pub recommendations? I was going to go Ring O'Bell, right out of the station near the church, then the Railway, Upper George, Three Pigeons and Shears Inn. |

its the one next to the car park at the bottom end of the ground, usually at the right hand side looking towards the pitch for the entrance. |
Re: VS Halifax
Food available inside includes; 1/2lb Cheeseburgers (£4.50), 1/2lb Burgers (£4), 1/4lb Cheeseburgers (£2.90), 1/4lb Burgers (£2.70), Hot Dogs (£2.50), a range of Pies (Chicken Balti, Cheese & Onion, Meat & Potato, Steak & Kidney all £2.80) and Chips (£1.50).
There is a supporters club at the ground which admits away fans. However, it is rather on the small side and fills up quickly. Joe Martin informs me that 'the Three Pigeons Pub sells good beer and is only a few minutes walk away from the stadium'. This pub which is on Sun Fold Road is owned by the Ossett Brewery is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Further up from the Three Pigeons is the Pump Room which Andrew Birbeck a visiting Bristol Rovers says; 'was friendly on our visit to away supporters'. Also quite close to the ground, albeit a little tricky to find down some backsreets is the Shears Inn. This old pub is located on Paris Gates at the bottom of Boys Lane. It has six real ales on tap and offers food too. Otherwise the ground is in easy walking distance of the town centre were there are plenty of pubs to be found, including a Wetherspoon pub called the Percy Shaw. |

Re: VS Halifax
Sad to say it has been a poor pre season. We needed to be playing higher standard opposition. However the real action will start soon. Has Buxton signed yet, it looked liked he would after his tweet but does anybody know for sure?

Re: VS Halifax
That's a good workout.
It's always going to be hard when the centre forward of a conference north team is on more money than your highest earner !!! |
Re: VS Halifax
And to add insult to injury, Halifax's tannoy announcer at the end of the game thanked everyone for their attendance especially the visiting fans from . . . .
ALTRINCHAM!! |
