Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Just checked Grimsby website nothing on there as to whether we can pay on gate
|
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
I've asked a Grimsby fan who came on another thread, he says he'd be surprised if our fans can't pay on the day but can't say for sure.
He's put a link to their website but the only thing I can find is that any tickets for concessions need to be bought from the ticket office |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Will be disappointed if JC doesn't play GTF against GTFC
|
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
it's not 100% clear on the information received from Grimsby; so e-mail has been sent to get some information.
For those that want to pre-purchase we do have some down at the offices. |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Rather complicated but here goes:
Adults can pay cash at turnstiles £20 Those wanting a concession price must go to their ticket office first. IF you buy over phone at Grimsby, on-line ( Official Website of the Mariners - Grimsby Town FC latest news, photos and videos) or in person before 1-30pm on the day you'll get a £2 discount ( except juvenilies) |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Mr T thanks for your effort on getting this information. at leased Stanley do answer phone calls, as for Grimsby they do not make easy to find out basic information for away supporters, shame on them
|
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Thanks for the kind words; we have been rather busy at the Wham as staff try and fit in the odd day of annual leave.
The Grimsby staff are finding the EFL rules and regulations very different on their return to League 2 |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Guys, pay on the day is always the case at Grimsby. I cannot honestly remember when a league game was last all ticket for away fans.
Discount available before 1.30 on match day at a £2 discount Visiting Blundell Park Also you have a bar in the away end, full of scarves/shirts etc donated by visitors, Sky TV, 2 pint glasses if required! |

Trying to think of some witty topical pun about Wham and Last Christmas and Accy to try to lighten the mood.
But I can't. Think I'll just eat some more feckin toblerone. |

Re: Grimsby Away match thread
I was there and we played well.
Omar slipped and let their guy run in on goal. Seemed to loose his footing. We pushed them right back in 2nd half and went for broke with Shay on for Brown. They scored on the counter.Game over. Same old criticism of low chances to possession ratio but on the other hand they showed a lot of heart even after the second goal went in. If this was a one off game Id say we were unlucky.Honestly don't know what to make of our current run. My best guess is that the Jam Butty House People have cursed us. |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Sounds a lot like last week's game, feel so sorry for our lads - they must be wondering what on earth they have to do to turn this bad run around & their confidence must be shot to pieces. Couldn't go today but will hopefully be at Gresty Road next week when surely we'll get the bit of luck needed so that our recent good performances will start to turn into the results we need & deserve

'Are you sure you were in Cleethorpes?'
TBH I'm not sure if I'm fooling myself or not. I appreciate the contradiction in playing well yet not scoring or being able to keep a clean sheet. |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
It does seem the same old story week in and week out. Coley has said that it may need a change of personnel in January. I hope something drastic happens to change our luck before the end of January or I am afraid the whole of the latter end of the season will simply be desperation football just to stay up. I have seen us play at home and like many others come away thinking we should have got something from the game. Sadly we got what we deserved and that I am afraid is nothing. Looking at the games overall and the tactics and personnel employed have made us an easy scalp now. Earlier in the season, I said we were just vulnerable to the sucker punch. I am afraid it is much more serious now that teams like Grimsby have sussed us out. A complete change of tactics is desperately needed. I did not go today but I can bet the passing was not as clean and sharp as it needs to be. I bet we clustered on one side of the pitch and rarely spread the ball wide to stretch the opposition. Whatever the problem it can't be all the players. The manager has to get inside their heads and restore the confidence. At the last home game Jonno could have sat in the stands with us and had a brew in the first half. He got about three touches worthy of mention. we can't keep leaving players like him out on a limb. We go again and we will play the same again. Even Coley knows drastic action is needed.

Re: Grimsby Away match thread
We can't keep bemoaning bad luck and laying the blame at everything other than the one standout reason why we are where we are.....
We can't hit the back of the net..... In my opinion......we are a bit like Ronseal.........the opposition KNOW what they're getting....it's Stanley......we do exactly what Coleman puts on the tin !!!!:( Don't keep kidding yourselves that bad luck has a part to play........Cloughie was spouting that line when Forest eventually dropped out of the Premier League..... Too good to go down ...????? Our goalscoring record in recent times TOTALLY negates that argument !!!!:( We're in the deep brown stuff......it will require the manpower with the drive and ability to steer us clear this year...... To all those living in dreamworld who think there isn't a problem......wake up and smell the coffee !! We've been sussed.....we're too predictable....hence why we couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo at the moment !!! My gripe is....stop bemoaning bad luck......hope the manager does something drastic to make SURE it changes.......otherwise......hate to say it....but for a man who has had all the manpower (all paid good wages to be sat in the stands ) at his disposal......it may be time for change....:( |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Footnote to the above.....Nothing from next two league games and in my opinion ...... Mr Holt has a major decision to make.............
Gamble with sentiment........ or make a move to make sure we are a league club come 7th May 2017............:o Forget the cup game against Luton........I'd swap a win in that for 6 points NOW !!!! I realise this may not go down too well with those who blindly follow the "messiah" unconditionally.........but if we drop out of the league....I fear we may not return too easily...... |

Re: Grimsby Away match thread
I agree
Coleman needs to drop this over emphasis on his passing possession game and go back to basics. In colemans defence, this is exactly what he did when we were at risk in years 2 and 3 (2007-08 &2008-09) back in the league, 5 at the back away from home, direct to Mullen, make us hard to beat. I don't think anyone can say we are hard to beat, quite the opposite. Coleman has changed it before, he can do it again. |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
No one has mentioned tactics!! What formation was played yesterday?

Watching Grimsby's goals again Cashy, the defensive tactics, if any, didn't really achieve much !.. ( didn't rate the goalkeeping much either ....Does he ' freeze. ' at the optimum moment do you think ?... Certainly looks like it at times !). Better times round the corner ??. KTF !... |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
same old thing cashy. its like watching a repeat on tele. only the opposition is different. big decisions to be made in january as the writings on the wall for me. glad i,m not a football manager.

Second half for the first 20 mins was one way traffic, strong wind prevented Grimsby getting out and they sat very deap. Once again chances created, once again chances not converted. We then went to 4-4-2 with shay coming on and once again created chances only for their keeper the have a blinder. They hit us on the break as we went for broke to score and it was game over. It was very very similar to Plymouth whereby you'd struggle to say anyone truly had a bad game but things have to improve. On a side note the challenge on Seamus at half time looked a horror tackle but the whistle had literally just sounded as he committed it. Whether the ref saw it or not who knows. |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
The big problem with not being able to attend games due to family commitments at Christmas is your reliance on 'live text' from the BBC sports app.
I spent 90 minutes on boxing day following the game on the mobile and, believing the stats, was truly annoyed we managed to lose this game. Better possession for most of the game - 14 shots to their 6 - 10 corners to their 3. What the hell????? It would appear there are stats & then there are damn stats. But the stats that don't lie are as follows; Played 22 - won 5. Scored 20 - only Oldham, bottom of league 1 & lowly North Ferriby, rock bottom of the Vanarama have scored less in all 5 football leagues. Only Barnet's winner against Cheltenham kept us out of next to bottom spot. (Thanks also to the snake's team for coming back from 2-0 down to keep Newport bottom.) For one mad moment, let us imagine we were a premiership team and then answer this; Would Billy Kee be still leading the attack after 9 barren league games without a win? Come to that, would John Coleman still be in a job? |
Re: Grimsby Away match thread
We play like the elaborate swordsman Indy shoots in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Pretty but ineffective.

Re: Grimsby Away match thread
Yes, it's a little worrying at the moment but worrying moments are not alien to a Stanley fan, I just don't think that a change in management does that much good when the chips are down, neither do I think Billy has changed into an indifferent player in such a short time - he isn't getting the same quality of support that he had from Piero & Josh & so is finding it more difficult, that's no reflection on John O'Sullivan or Jordan Clark - but they're different players, not worse just different so yes maybe the tactics/formation should be changed but not necessarily the personnel.
I have every conference that we will turn this round & will stick my neck out enough to say I don't believe we will go down this season |

Re: Grimsby Away match thread
AccyMad, I wasn't suggesting for one moment we should change either manager or players, just trying to highlight the absurdity of the Premier League, where you can fire a struggling manager with a £3 million pay-off & league two, where we have to live within our means.
Every jack man of the team are giving their all every week, but we keep falling short. John Coleman needs to change tactics soon or the confidence will disappear altogether. As we can't score, maybe we should have a 9 man defence & punt long balls onto GTF's head. Perhaps 0-0 draws for the rest of the season will see us safe? |
