Cambridge United thread
Looking a pictures it looks very likely the game will be postponed
|
Re: Cambridge United thread
Game off
|
Re: Cambridge United thread
Shame as Cambridge will be here but looking at pics it's the right decision
|
Re: Cambridge United thread
OK - off to the Etihad for City v Monaco then.
Anyone fancy it? I've got a couple going spare (free) if anyone wants to go and can reply in the next 15 mins. |
Re: Cambridge United thread
Still think If the ref had waited it may have drained in time, the rain has stopped and had a decent chance to recover
|
Re: Cambridge United thread
Maybe the ref took up Lord Didsbury's offer!

Re: Cambridge United thread
I am a little surprised that all the drainage work does not seem to have cured the problem completely. The pitch has been very sticky in the corner on the main stand side for a couple of weeks. It does seem that the problem is on this side of the pitch. I hope it can be resolved sooner than later. Andy has spent a lot on the pitch already.

Re: Cambridge United thread
It's an absolutely, shocking, disgraceful, embarrassing state of affairs and I will be writing a strongly worded letter to the club :D
That should save you know who coming on!!! :D |
Re: Cambridge United thread
Where is Somerset he's been quiet lately ever since they had a game called off for waterlogged pitch
|
Re: Cambridge United thread
Andy holt himself has said he's sick of the drainage situation

Re: Cambridge United thread
Perhaps we should remember Accrington's claim to fame.
1. Its famous football club 2. Its famous 'iron' brick 3. It rains...........a lot! You can't make the world's finest engineering brick using sand. The clay beneath our feet supports the Empire State Building & Blackpool Tower. Unfortunately, it's impervious to water & no amount of sand on top will help improve drainage. The best thing that can be said about tonight's postponement is that it gives our boys a well deserved rest before the Doncaster game. |

And also the weather. Many is the time we've driven from a Sun drenched Manchester to a cold, rainy Accy.

The sooner the football league allow modern 3G pitches in the league, the better

Re: Cambridge United thread
It's a tragic case, of course, and no doubt my natural inclinations would be the same as the lad's dad, but presumably there would be other cases that have occurred if there's significant danger from these pitches? I looked on't tinternet and found reference to many studies in the US about these surfaces. Many say they are safe, some doubting the reliability of the research.
Hard to know exactly how to proceed when there are concerns like this. Probably with some caution, but you can't completely stop progress for the sake of what only appear to be one or two incidents that may not be linked in any way. My parents still won't use microwave ovens as they think they are cancerous for some reason. Sounds a bit bonkers to me, although there's plenty of cases in the past (e.g. Asbestos) which point towards a more safety first approach. |
