What the article says is the club wants more for him than they got for Jackson.
It also confirms the club have the option to extend his contract by another year.
They won’t get more than the Jackson fee.
They will extend his contract and take up the option.
No assumptions only facts.

Jings, 28, you'd argue with yourself if there was no-one else in the room.

All I wrote was that I assumed Clark might be sold this year.

The article confirms precisely that Professor Coleman is thinking about this option - "[I]Coleman is mulling over what to do next because...he is mindful of getting good money for a player [Clark] whose value has the potential to exceed Jackson's"[I]

My understanding is that the Club have a one year option on Clark but have recently offered improved terms which as yet have not been accepted.
