was not on the bench last night so unless injured something is going on. out of the 3 in then 1 will be a keeper, the other a replacement for the rotherham lad and the third a left back. doubt we,ll see an experianced new player upfront.

Again you have to feel sorry for Coley because I think he chased him a long time.

He is under contract.

Unless any other club makes a bid that is acceptable to the club he's going nowhere.
Every player has a price - even Premiership stars - and if Preston or Wigan are prepared to pay that figure then its good business for everyone.
I stress business because he'll take some replacing in the next three weeks if true.
If we set the fee at say £2 mill and they take the bait that's their concern.
I would think that would be enough to put suitors off don't you ?
If not it's good business.

Unless significant change, the transfer windows are here as part and parcel of football. We also need to accept our place in the football pecking order and that we will be viewed as a supply source for ‘bigger’ clubs, however, our ‘take’ from the situation now is better than ever as we’ve been able to place players on longer contracts and can benefit from transfer fees if we decide that the business is good for us.

We should also look at this from a players’ perspective. Come to our club with it’s unique character, a manager and coaching staff that want to play passing football, a philosophy where if you’re good enough, you’ll play in the first team, if you do well, a club that won’t stand in the way of your progression - Connor Ripley had enough about him earlier to realise, had it not been for his spell with us, he wouldn’t be at Preston now - that’s great progress for him in just 4 1/2 months.

We got loads of selling points to players who want to further their careers and can now start to evidence a track record (Jackson, Donacien, Ripley) to attract the next batch in.

Given that Clark has had an offer for some months on an extended deal and nothing announced i sense he won't. To be fair and frank to the lad, i would not blame him.

Maybe reading too much into it, i sensed a few weeks ago Coley praising his quality was an acceptance and a prelude to this window ?

Tactically the weirdest move from Coley.
Could easily have moved Brown or Conneely there and brought on a midfielder. He's not a full back but does great work in front of his full back breaking up play.
If we're talking second half performance let's not beat about the bush - every one of them !
Clark is with us for another season unless the club decides otherwise - provided they take up the one year option which will be astonishing if they don't.

Who’d have JC’s job it must be soul destroying, if he manages to sign a decent player we lose them in the transfer windows, if we loan players who improve under his care their parent clubs recall them to use or sell, then has to search for bargains in the loan pool to replace players he’s lost and all the time knowing he will have the same problem after the next transfer window,

I think that there are plenty of examples over recent years where good players have not had a reasonable opportunity. Strangely several of these have been involved in the left back position.

These two are typical Coley signings - good players who are young and hungry. It's a good opportunity for them to progress, but hopefully Stanley will benefit in a big way too. not really sure if he should go and thats not from the stanley point of view. first real offer from a club higher up. his wages would certainly be higher but cannot see him being more than a bench warmer at best at preston. get some more games under his belt for us and an even better offer may come along.

I would tend to agree. One of my criticisms of the club in recent times has been that we sell players for huge fees, but then refuse to enter the inflated market when buying players. It's expensive, but if we're willing to benefit from the inflated market through sales, then we should be willing to reinvest it.

We've had right back issues for a while, through injury, form loss etc. If he were to sign, there would be a big chance for him to play and nail down a spot in the side.

At the risk of being shot down, I'd say at this stage of the season the cash is not as important as having a decent replacement ready to take over - as having three changes to the back 5 showed on Saturday.
I don't mean that the new lads didn't do well, just that we can do without any more chopping & changing if we don't have to especially in defence

That was way back in 2005. Although he's only 32, goalies just seem to have a longer shelf-life. He's also played against us for Crewe (when we lost 5-1 in 2010) and a couple of times against us for the Brewers in 2010-11.

harvey rodgers back with us after his loan spell at hartlepool. certainly did not set the town alight with his performances for them. what the hell has happened to this lad who i was glad to see him back with us. wonder what will happen to him next. another loan away or just see his contract out as i cannot see him getting a chance with us again.

Di;

Bavs is at LFC

Suspect he'll be at St Helens on Monday.

Coley's put a bid in for a Conference winning GK; an ASFC hero;)

Rob Elliot hasn't played for Newcastle this season and was expected to be available in this Window.

I can assure you my post was entirely tongue in cheek Mark - hence the smiley face :)

I await the announcement of who our new keeper is with baited breath

I hope Janoi gets a fair run out, Piero has had very little, Ben has had a bit more. However you can not leave players on the bench and simply come on and be as match sharp despite training the same. They need match fitness. I wonder if we will get Kayden back on loan?

No, just realised. Their first match was against us and he didn't feature in their match day squad....... so OK to play for us if selected....:alright:

Nope, he's only played in the league & EFL cup for Ipswich

What kind of Happy Football Insanity is this? He leaves in the summer, we get paid for him 2 weeks ago, he's out of favour with the new Manager, and we loan him back today (plus get dressing rooms that won't scare Fulham off next time they come to ours! If you'd put that in a book or TV play you'd have been laughed off the page/screen!

Thank you, the Voodoo Gods

And Ipswich!

Can play anywhere along the back four fantastic player one of my Stanley favourites.

He was never meant to be a left back to be fair. Think this means that Johnson will be gone shortly.

Possibly, but they are both good players, but for me Donacien has the edge.

Great news to have Janoi back at Stanley. He will need his confidence boosting but John and Jimmy are masters at that job! As has already been said, Janoi is versatile and can play anywhere in defence and in midfield. Athletic and mobile he was one of my all time favourites in a red shirt.Welcome home Janoi.⚽

Good point as cover in case Callum does go but I think the money being offered will have to treble IMHO if he doesn't go still good business.
