Kick Off

Why does the official website say we travel to Halifax on Monday afternoon? Anybody travelling in the afternoon will miss the 12.05 start.
Please Rob, have this changed asap and avoid another public relations gaffe (I refer to the "90% match on" shambles.

hi redraine, why was the "90% match on" statement a shambles? did you see the pitch on tuesday afternoon? i came back in the evening to have a look at it at 11pm, and it was perfectly playable then!

to be fair the site quite often states 'stanley travel to xxx on saturday afternoon' even though for every fixture with the exception of leigh we do the actual travelling either in the morning on the day before. i shall however make sure the kick off time is clear thus avoiding another shambles.

Redraine I was one of those shovelling snow on boxing day, the pitch was perfect. It is not the clubs fault that the ref was one of the 10%!!!

Sorry Rob, but am I missing something?
What relevance is Tuesday?
As I mentioned in my post re. the "Weather" thread last Saturday I strong-armed 3 new possible supporters to come along, only for other people arriving at the Crown to give us the bad news, and they said they had phoned the club only half an hour before and were told "Match on". Allowing for the fact that the ref must have been an absolute prat, surely there must have been some doubt, i.e., more than 10%? The "shambles" was in the minds of my companions and I didn't seem able to convince them otherwise. Things like these will never shake my resolve to get to games - I am only highlighting the way unclear statements can come over as misleading to those who take them at face value.
Still can't think what Tuesday has to do with it, though.

sorry redraine, i meant sunday afternoon, and i can assure you that we were more than 90% sure that the game would go ahead before mr tatton came and decided otherwise.

Perhaps in similar circumstances it could be announced that a match was 90% certain to be played dependent on inspection of pitch by dipstick referee in near future. Then, stamped all over the posting like the warning on a packet of fags, could be `BEWARE: Dipstick referees abound in the Conference. Do not approach. These men are dangerous - particularly with a whistle in hand!`
