Itma !!.. A gillingham thread !.

ITMA...!

As well as welcoming another home win for the Reds tomorrow, I am more than certain that Gillingham's Manager.. the only Man to have had more clubs than Colin Montgomery !... Will be welcomed with open arms by many Stanley stalwarts as he wobbles along to the away dugout !.

Seriously, we meet another side who I am sure JC will prepare for with respect, and look forward to more of the great football which we all witnesed last Saturday !.

As for Steve Evans ?.. I didn't mean it... honestly ??. 🤔🤔😎😎

ON STANLEY!.. ON !!.

Pitch is fine, Coppice Terrace is rather wet, but we'll close that if it's still raining at kick off

choirboy 26-10-2019 09:11

Re: Itma !!.. A gillingham thread !.

Andy and Buzzer tweeted that the pitch is looking great and drains are working well.
Forecast is for more rain this morning but easing off a lot from noon.
Before Andy spent the £300k on the pitch and retaining walls the match would have definitely been called off IMHO.
Well done and massive thanks Andy.

COME ON STANLEY.
Back to winning ways today after the ‘Blip’ on Wednesday.

For various reasons couldn't make it today another home defeat by a club near us in the league Coleman said he doesn't like changing his starting 11 much that's ok when your winning and towards the top end of the table, why have such a big squad then are they good enough we are close to the bottom Bolton points deducted Southend look worse than us but the other bottom 3 spot is wide open we need some form soon.

Not sure, how we lost that one. Luck wasn't on our side along with a lack of preditory striking (I am hoping baker-richardson can be the answer) and discipline regards being onside. We created far more than the gills although the Kent team I felt always had a goal in them. Atmosphere was a bit flat in the Clayton end today, we need to be that 12th Man to Scrabble the points for another season of league 1. I felt we needed a bit of quality as well as the endeavour unfortunately we did have quite enough quality and luck today to get us the points.

Gills have to be the worst side i have seen at the Wham this season, no doubt at all, felt our side shoulda been freshened up long before football genius did, but thats nowt new. gills keeper did make 3 really good stops i thought.the correct MoM was chosen mind wasn't much to pick from today, the lineswoman should have stopped at home and done the ironing for all the use she was.

Posted on Friday night FM !... I suppose I could have fast forwarded and said 'today ' rather than 'tomorrow ' !
But if it had been tomorrow or Sunday then everyone would know what was going to happen in the afternoon and hence been better prepared for all that really happened today as opposed to tomorrow when I would have been able to post something about today not tomorrow which would have taken us into Monday,.. and Stanley never play on a Monday anyway !... just a thought !.

But apart from all that , did you enjoy the game today and have you any analysis to pass on to me to read and digest and help me to while away a long and cold October evening ?.

Keep em coming !.. VBW !. 😎

How can we afford the luxury of only playing Charles for the last 10 minutes per match? Why is he not starting? Is he carrying an injury?

Couldn't agree more Haggis !. In my humble opinion Zanzala's contribution amounted to nothing really and Colby seemed a little out of sorts, so the game cried out for someone to make a real effort !..

Still keep remembering Sir Bobby Robson's maxim ... ' Goals win matches get promotion. No goals lose matches get relegation !'

The Reds need goals... and points very soon !.

VBW. !.

I agree with you yonmon, I thought that it was not a game thet Zanzala was going be at his best and by half time it was obvious that he was cntributing very little as when he got the ball he was more often than not just pushed over, when they came out for the second half I presumed that they were just going to give it 10 - 15 minutes to see if he was any more likely to make an impact but it was when there was only 10 minutes to go before he was subbed.

How long you been going Coley does a great job but by his own admission ( his weakness in my opinion) likes a settled 11 and doesn't like making substitutions.

Would be great to get a discussion going - what are your thoughts on women’s involvement in men’s professional football?

Surely the time to make changes was after they scored in the 59th minute.
With 30+ minutes still left, Charles may have made all the difference.
In 9 appearances (131/2 hours of play) Zanzala's scored 2 goals, yet he keeps securing the role of lead striker.
Even more amazed by the Johnson/Carvalho switch - in the 88th minute????
On the subject of subs, does anyone know what's happened to the young midfielder on loan from Wolves - Sadou Diallo?
He gets a game against Oldham, scores a goal - now he doesn't even make the bench.

I thought that Helen and that ponytail which bobbed so seductively and shone with a translucent glow in the late afternoon sunshine. Not to mention her Matalan shorts which contrasted so lustily with her creamy white thighs, or the delightful wave she gave to me as she noticed me looking on with absolute admiration at the vision of radiant pulchitrude racing up and down the line which she presented throughout the match... I can't keep this up much longer !!.

Give em a chance I say can't be worse than most of the Male officials.

thing is with liners if they can overule the ref or say i saw it this way, then the ref has to instruct them too and many dont, thats what a ref that stands with us when hes free, tells us.

From my expose I reckon I made a very real, if slightly impassioned and selfish case for giving ' them ' a chance Andy !.

I have several friends who could be seduced into making regular trips to the Wham were there three attractive young ladies in skimpy shorts officiating (Here i go again ! )
Particularly if they included a sinuous dance as part of their watrm-up routine ( There I must stop !!.. or the wrath of Accymad is sure to descend on me ! ).

What I'm trying to say is , that it matters not whether they prove to be better or worse than Male Officials !... BRING EM ON !.

about time that the duties of linesmen are written in stone and not the whim of the referee who is in charge of the game. some just want you to do offsides and ball in or out of play.

I fully agree about the poor refereeing Monkey Hanger. Predictable ‘spoiling’ tactics from a Steve Evans side but the referee just allowed them to get away with it time after time. He didn’t show a yellow card to a Gillingham player until virtually the end of the match! He awarded 24 free kicks against Gills players, there should have been many more. The match was a very poor spectacle in terms of entertainment largely because of the constant attempts at foul play and so many free kicks which totally disrupted the flow of the game.
The referee only booked three players and probably went home thinking that he’d had a ‘good match’.

monkey hanger 29-10-2019 08:49

Re: Itma !!.. A gillingham thread !.

after the first few minutes it was obvious what their tactics were. if i put my referees hat on and not my stanley one i still would have cautioned a couple of their lot in the first 20 minutes would have made the game more enjoyable and easier for him. would it have changed the final result though is another question.

cashman 29-10-2019 11:19

Re: Itma !!.. A gillingham thread !.

Evans teams have always played that way cos he knows with the poor standard of refs, in the main they can get away with it imho.

Even Steve Evans , that paragon of dubious football tactics !, made three timely substitutions , who unlike Carvallo had time to make an impact on the game !.

i despair in nearly every game i go to at stanley because of this. the main reason i did not renew my season ticket this season. get totally fed up looking to see any movement on the bench. got to be a standing joke around me as the 85th minute seems the time for any action.
