Lincoln away match thread
Games being called off already all over any news on state of Lincoln,s pitch as temperature forecast for -5° real feel -11° will it go ahead long journey for Stanley.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
I share your concerns, but the club are being assured pitch on Friday PM is fit to play.
With Lincoln still in the PJT (EFL Trophy) both teams can't really afford another blank weekend |

Sunshine currently out near the Wham but it's like standing in a fridge.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Grimsby is off just down the road. All South Yorkshire games off.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
It makes you wonder, but it is the old conundrum, they will need decent covers on the pitch for it to be playable after going -4 c for several hours, but how do you inspect a pitch with covers on today?
If you inspect a section there is always scope for part of it to be frozen. I reckon it is 50/50 at best, and that is being optimistic. |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Currently -3° not rising above-1° all day in Lincoln real feel between -7° and -9° in the hands of Jack Frost again 50/50 chance I,d say hopefully they have a bit of sun forecast maybe we,ll be lucky.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Match off until Sunday evening
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
I wonder if they took the covers off and it was frozen as was entirely predictable.
I'm not sure Doncaster Rovers "had to be rearranged" or they will be willing to do so unless the EFL forces them to. |

Lincoln make 4 changes at the back. Now that's either strength in depth, or they don't think we are up to much?

Re: Lincoln away match thread
29 mins in: Stanley 59% possession, 6 shots, 2 on target, one corner, one goal ... Lincoln 41%, no shots (all on target) no corners, no goals
Have they dissed us, to their peril? :theband::theband::theband: |

Dominant half.
Smyth great. Pritchard might struggle to get back in ! |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Halfway there.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Good first half, Lincoln looked like they ran out of ideas trying to pass out of their own half. Expect a slight adjustment from them to get round our press in the second half. Nottingham impressed for me

Hughes what are you thinking ?? Massive height advantage 6 minutes to go. Fuming. |

2 goals conceded direct from corners!
Definitely our Achilles heel |

Hughesy get your cheque book out you owe Dion.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Well, in the wash up, its a pretty dam good result for us. good onya STANLEY.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Great Point......don't Lincoln look good.....
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Well done Stanley.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Fantastic advertisement for League 1 football. It was always
going to be tough against the league leaders so it's a good steady result. |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
From euphoria....to depression.... to relief.... all in 95 minutes!
A truly great performance against the runaway leaders. |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Anyone listening to Radio Lincoln's commentary would think that Stanley's MotM was 'an Accrington player'! Come back, Dan!
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Another great performance, but this time a better result. Very unfortunate and rare c**k up from Yosser, but what a battling effort to get that equaliser; fantastic left foot volley from Dion.
Well done to the entire squad and coaches. Awful commentary from BBC Lincs, guy was both clueless and biased. |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
2-2 charles great result for me.even though we gave it away.

That's exactly what I thought. He hardly ever mentioned any of the Stanley side by name. A really poor, unprofessional commentary. |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Good game 2 goals the result of mistakes and 2 excellent goals Smyth is a talented player frightening their defenders Charles great to be scoring bit concerned about how wide open we were in the left back position not sure if Burgess is an out and out full back new lad Morgan excellent pass for Charles equaliser, onto Wednesday no let up but playing like that and we'll be okay.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
‘twas certainly a ‘Game of two Halves’, With Stanley dominating the first half. Lincoln then dictated play in the second half :theband:
As others have already said it was a good advert for League One standards. The pitch was very good too. The I follow coverage was disappointing...constantly blurred screen and first half problems with local radio intrusions.:enough: A good point away at the League leaders though.:theband: ON STANLEY ON:theband::mosher: |

Re: Lincoln away match thread
would certainly have accepted a point at the kick off on top of watching a top game even though the stream and commentators tried to spoil it.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
I did get I Follow eventually, I had to change my password in the process, just hope I dont have the same probs on Wed night.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
BBC Radio Lincoln apart, most match reports that I've read have been very fair and complementary (see NewsNow), such as this one: https://staceywest.net/2021/02/15/st...ton-stanley/2/
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
the useless sods who commentated on the game did say a few times stanley had played very well.
|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Quote:
He was OK, but the commentator was like an over-excited fan, claiming “oh, brilliant cross field pass” seconds before the ball went five yards over the head of the Lincoln wing back and directly into touch. It became quite a laugh he was so biased. |

I recall Dan saying that because of covid restrictions, he can't travel to matches to provide live commentary so we are stuck with away commentary only for the time being.

Ironically, the chap doing the Plymouth iFollow was plagued with technical issues last Tuesday. Most Plymouth fans on social media were more than complimentary of Dan Jewell’s outlook. Long way on a Tuesday night for a commentator to travel and his equipment to fail! |
Re: Lincoln away match thread
he failed far more than his equipment he didnt know which stanley player had the ball or tackled for most times, he was useless

|
Re: Lincoln away match thread
Strange that other local BBC commentators can travel to the Wham but Dan isn't travelling to away games, unless it's a personal choice for him which would be completely understandable.
